Chapter 266: Gathering allies

Even though they had seemed fearless earlier, it didn’t seem like they were completely fearless.

Even though they were controlled, it seemed that they still had free will to a certain extent.

That made sense since it would surely take a lot of power to fully control all of these spirit beasts. So the only thing that would make sense was partial control over these spirit beasts.

That meant that once something pushed them over the limit, they would be able to break free of the thing restraining them.

In this case, it was fear that had pushed them over the brink.

After edging back for a bit and losing a few more of their compatriots, the spirit beast finally gave up and turned to run.

It was just too bad that there were no plans to let them leave.

The moment that they turned around, there was a wall of pink flames that appeared in front of them. This wall of pink flames was just too intense for the spirit beasts to charge through, though there were a few that did try.

The moment that they clashed into the wall of pink flames, they roared out in pain and retreated.

There were even some that just dropped to the ground in the middle of the flames. The way that they dropped was almost like they were puppets that had their strings cut.

These were the ones that had the vines burned away by Mu Bao Bao’s flames.

It seemed like her flames were strong enough to easily burn the vines, but she didn’t make a move until now because I had told her not to do anything.

I didn’t know what was coming, so I wanted her to save her energy.

But there was no doubt that she would explode if she was made to hold it in for too long. As such, I had her create this flame wall since it didn’t take too much energy.

I had to admit that her control of her flames really was good as the ones that fell were released from the flames. Even though they were surrounded in flames, Mu Bao Bao had created a gap in the flames so that they weren’t burnt by them.

It turned to them being trapped in flames to them being protected by the flames.

At the same time, there were gaps that appeared in the flame walls that allowed the others to attack the spirit beasts.

With the flame wall creating gaps for them, they were able to strike the blind spots of the spirit beasts and cut the vines.

In no time at all, the spirit beasts had all turned to our side.

There wasn’t a single red dot that was left on the minimap. Even the spirit beasts who had been attacking us previously had turned to green dots.

Like this, we turned our attackers into our allies.

Though it was better to say that they were my allies alone.

The spirit beasts just ignored the senior brothers and sisters who had actually cut the vines binding them. Instead, they all came to me as if they were looking for affection from me. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

It even reached a point where they were fighting over each other for my affection.

It seemed that the title was still working, it even seemed like the title might be a bit too effective with the way that the spirit beasts were acting.

Was there really a need for them to fight like this?

I calmed them all down before turning to the senior brothers and sisters.

They had all been waiting for me to finish with the spirt beasts. The way that they were waiting was almost as if they were all waiting for me to make a decision.

But I didn’t say anything as I looked at them.

That was because I still hadn’t come to a decision yet.

The vines were clearly dangerous and whatever was controlling those vines would surely be even more dangerous. As such, it wouldn’t be easy for us to deal with what would come.

These were the lives of my senior brothers and sisters, it wasn’t as if I could risk them that easily.

"Host, what are you hesitating for?"

The system’s voice suddenly rang out in my head which caught me off guard.

There was a very bitter feeling that filled me when I heard this before I said, "Isn’t it all your fault? You’re the one that wanted me to come here in the first place."

"Does the host believe that this wouldn’t have happened if the host didn’t come to this place."

I found that I had nothing to respond to this with.

I couldn’t refute the logic of the system.

Even if I didn’t come to this place, this would still have happened. The only difference was that since I was here, I was caught up in this mess.

"Would the host have been safe if the host didn’t come?"

The system didn’t even give me a break as it immediately refuted the next argument that I would have made.

This system...it really doesn’t hold back at all.

But there was no denying that the system was right.

Even if I didn’t come here, that doesn’t mean that this wouldn’t have affected me in the end. After all, it wasn’t as if whatever was causing this incident would just remain in the Myriad Beast Valley.

Once they had finished gathering the spirit beasts to control as puppets, there was no doubt that they would have looked outside of the Myriad Beast Valley.

So it was only a matter of time before this beast wave left the Myriad Beast Valley and went for the land of the humans.

When that time comes, there was no doubt that I would also be caught up in this.

The system really seemed to have planned everything...

Though it still felt like there was something that I was missing.

It was like there was something else that I didn’t know about that the system seemed to be hiding from me...

Still...

"Let’s go find some more allies."

The others all looked at me with confused looks, but they still followed me in the end.
