The power of the system was not something that I doubted.

I didn’t believe that these spirit beasts would be able to resist the power of the system and the title that I received from it.

So it didn’t make any sense at all that they were still aggressive towards me like this.

Just what was happening with these spirit beasts.

I knew that something seemed off, so I looked at the minimap and found that there was something strange about the red dots that represented these spirit beasts.

We had moved away from the swarm of vines coming out of the ground, that meant that we had moved far enough away from the sea of red. This allowed me to see the separate dots that the spirit beasts represented.

Though the strange thing was that for each spirit beast...there were two different dots. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

It was hard to tell at first, but I was able to see it clearly after looking at it hard enough.

There were indeed two dots for each spirit beast that seemed to be overlapping each other.

It was almost as if they were right on top of each other with the way that they were stacked.

Whatever it was should have been attached to the spirit beasts...

But there didn’t seem to be anything that was on the spirit beasts that should have triggered this.

That was until I looked very closely at the spirit beasts.

Or it was better to say that I looked closely at the ground under the spirit beasts.

Because they were green in colour, they seemed to blend in with the grass that was on the ground. The only reason that I was able to see it was because the green clashed with the fur of the spirit beasts.

There seemed to be vines coming out of the ground that wrapped around the legs of the spirit beasts.

As for where the vines went, I really couldn’t tell.

However, I could see that the vines were connected to the spirit beasts to a certain extent.

"They’re being controlled." I couldn’t help saying this out loud.

Everyone was surprised to hear this before Liu Ao Xue asked, "What do you mean controlled?"

I pointed at the spirit beasts and then the vines coming out of the ground before saying, "The vines are attaching themselves to the spirit beasts and controlling them. As long as we destroy the vines, they should be able to come back to their senses."

"Destroy the vines." Everyone slowly repeated before revealing slightly bitter looks.

I knew why they had these looks on their faces.

They had seen what happened when the other humans had tried to destroy the vines before. They knew that these vines weren’t that easy to break, not to mention that they would have to fight these spirit beasts at the same time.

It certainly wasn’t easy to do such a thing.

It would actually be better just to kill the spirit beasts.

But I didn’t think the same thing.

I knew that the vines were dangerous, so it was best to destroy the problem at its roots.

At the same time though, I knew that there was something to gain from freeing the spirit beasts from the control of these vines.

To take the lead, I pulled out the War God’s Spear and charged forward with the little monkey on my shoulder.

The little monkey had a terrified look and wanted me to retreat, but I just ignored it.

It was the little monkey’s own fault for being asleep the whole time.

I had to admit that it was kind of impressive how it was able to remain sleeping the whole time. Even with all the commotion that was caused by the fighting, the little monkey had never woken up.

It really was a deep sleeper.

With this War God’s Spear, I was able to cut the vine that was attached to the leg of the deer that was charging at me.

This deer wasn’t that strong in the first place since it was only in the Qi Condensation Realm, so it was easy for me to dodge its attack and get behind it. Though it was strange that the deer suddenly collapsed to the ground when I cut through the vine that was holding its leg.

However, it wasn’t as if I had the time to worry about this as more spirit beasts were heading in my direction.

Leaving the deer alone, I turned my attention to the other spirit beasts.

But before they could reach me, the deer suddenly stood up and charged at the other spirit beasts. It used its antlers to stop them from charging before looking at me out of the corner of its eyes.

It was as if it was telling me to take advantage of this opening.

I didn’t need to be told twice by the deer of this, so I went forward and used the War God’s Spear to cut through the vines that were holding their legs as well.

The moment that I did, they all collapsed to the ground just like the deer had done.

However, it didn’t take long for them to stand up again and face the other spirit beasts that were charging this way.

Some of them stayed with me and helped me block the spirit beasts while the others spread out to help the Star Peak Sect disciples.

The senior brothers and sisters were surprised to see the spirit beasts helping them all of a sudden, but they knew that this wasn’t the time to question it. So working with the spirit beasts that turned to their side, they started corralling the rampaging spirit beasts.

There were some that found that they could cut the vines, it was just a matter of using all their strength to do so.

There were some that were just too weak to cut the vines, so they had no choice but to work with those that could cut the vines to take down the spirit beasts.

In no time at all, more than half of the spirit beasts had been freed.

The remaining half started to back down as if they were afraid of us.
