Chapter 260: Meeting of spirit beasts

I could tell that everyone else was tense except for Mu Bao Bao who only slightly knitted her brows.

So I raised my hand to calm them down before saying, "Wait here. Let’s see what they are planning to do."

All of them gave a heavy nod before looking at all of the spirit beasts that were gathered in this large clearing in the forest.

Though the problem was...we couldn’t understand what they were saying.

In the back of mind, there was the thought that I should just walk out and use the title that I had to calm them down, but I didn’t do it in the end.

The situation was too strange that I didn’t dare guarantee that it would work in the first place.

As such, there was only one thing that could be done...

I turned to look at Mu Bao Bao.

She gave a sigh before she started translating for us.

...

"Do you really think that your crappy little pack can take what’s mine?" The Jade Crane said in an aggressive voice.

"Who says that it’s yours in the first place?" The Fire Badger snarled with its teeth showing.

"A bunch of children arguing." The Mist Peacock placed its wing in front of its face like a fan as it made fun of these two.

There was no doubt that there was hostility between the sides with how they kept talking to each other with taunting voices. It was as if they wanted the other side to attack just to get an excuse to deal with them.

But even though they talked with this kind of aggression, there wasn’t a single beast that actually did anything.

With the wary way that they looked at each other, it was as if they were afraid of anyone actually making a move.

So the only thing that happened was them taunting each other.

In a sense, it was almost like a cat fight.

But then there was a roar that suddenly cut through the air.

As soon as this roar rang out, there were no other spirit beasts that continued to argue.

The moment that this roar rang out, all of the spirit beasts felt this kind of instinct to be silent.

Though that instinct didn’t last long since they were leaders of their own groups and had their own pride. They wouldn’t be suppressed by instinct long enough that they would just bend over that easily.

But they did wait to see what the one that had roared out had to say for themselves.

A rough voice said, "What are you all freaking out for? Why are you trying to show off like this when you all know that there’s only one reason that we’ve gathered here today?"

This was a Sun Lion that had roared out to calm all the spirit beasts.

It had relied on its natural suppression over other beasts to make them fall silent.

There was a reason why lions were known as the king of the beasts after all.

All of the other leaders of the different spirit beasts group didn’t say anything in response to this.

However, the way that they looked at the other leaders made it clear what they were thinking.

They knew that the Sun Lion was right.

The reason why they had gathered here today was because they knew that there wasn’t much time before ’that’ appeared. So they were all looking for allies to take that for themselves.

It was just that they hadn’t expected that many tribes to appear at the same time, which was why they were trying to threaten each other.

They wanted to reduce the competition that they had to face.

Seeing that everyone had calmed down, the Sun Lion continued by saying, "I know that it might be a hard pill to swallow, but it is a fact that we need each other right now. There’s no telling how much of ’that’ will appear, so we can’t be certain how much each of us will get, but there’s one thing that is certain..."

After a pause and a sigh, the Sun Lion revealed a serious look to say, "Unless we group together, it’ll all be taken by the Four Kings. We have no choice but to work with each other if we even want to think about grabbing a slice of this pie."

All of the spirit beasts had grim looks on their faces when they heard this.

That was all because the Sun Lion had mentioned the ’Four Kings’.

There wasn’t a single spirit beast in the Myriad Beast Valley that didn’t know what the Four Kings were.

For them, it was even a taboo to mention it since that was just how terrified of these four Kings they were.

Though it couldn’t be blamed on them since the Four Kings had a special identity.

Simply put, these ’Four Kings’ were the four strongest spirit beasts in the entire Myriad Beast Valley. All of them ruled over a certain area that was deemed a taboo zone for other spirit beasts.

After all, any other spirit beast that wandered into the territory of one of the Four Kings would usually find their life cut short.

So no one dared to tread on the territory of the Four Kings.

But now that ’that’ was about to appear, there was no doubt that the Four Kings would also appear.

That was why all of the spirit beasts had grim looks on their faces.

There was a heavy silence that lingered in the air for a while before the Sun Lion finally broke that silence by saying, "All of you know that we have no other choice. Unless we work together, it will be impossible for us to even see ’that’."

All of the spirit beasts looked at each other with grim looks still, but the leaders of the various spirit beasts tribes eventually nodded in agreement.

The threat of the Four Kings was just too much for them to handle alone.

If they even wanted a chance at ’that’, they had to work together.
