Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 123: We’re leaving
The area that the mission was for wasn’t that far from the town.
It was an area that had several villages near each other.
When we arrived in this area, it was clear that things were bad here. There was all kinds of mess that were scattered all around the roads here, showing that there was some kind of commotion that happened here.
With how messy it was, it was clear that there was something that had been causing destruction in this area.
As for what that thing was, I had no idea, but that was what we were here to find out.
The mission was to investigate the mess that had been created here, which was most likely some kind of spirit beast.
Since it was a spirit beast, naturally it would be up to cultivators to deal with them, which was where we came in.
So the first thing that we did after arriving was head to the nearest village.
When we arrived, it wasn’t just me, but all the members of our group knitted our brows at the sight that was in front of us.
That was because the village was even more of a mess than the roads.
The houses completely collapsed and the fields were ruined. It was clear that whatever had come through here had completely destroyed the village.
The first thing that we did was find the village chief.
When the village chief heard that we were cultivators sent from the Falling Star Sect, his eyes filled with tears as he said, "Are you really? We’ve been waiting so long for you, my lords."
Then he started bowing to us as he said, "Please save us from those terrifying spirit beasts."
It was hard to console him with how emotional he was, but eventually we were able to calm the village chief down and ask him about what happened.
The village chief had a somber look on his face as he said with a sigh, "It just happened two days ago. There was this large creature that suddenly came out of the woods and started attacking our village."
At this, the village chief stopped and pointed in the distance at an area outside of the village.
When we looked over, we could see that there were a bunch of trees collapsed there like it was forming a path. This was most likely where the large creature that the village chief described had come from.
After pointing this out, the village chief said, "After it came out of the woods, it suddenly started rampaging through our village and destroying everything. All of our fields were torn up and our houses were destroyed. The men tried to fight it off, but they were no match for them and even now...many of them are seriously injured. We don’t know if they will even survive for much longer."
Hearing this, I said, "Take me to see them."
The village chief revealed a surprised look when he heard this, but seeing the serious look on my face, he nodded in agreement and took me to one of the few houses that were still intact in this village.
This house was filled with seriously injured people and women who were looking after them. At the same time, there were a few unconscious people that had crying people around them.
It was clear that the situation wasn’t good for them...
After seeing this, I said, "Clear out a space in the center for me."
The village chief was confused when he heard this, but he quickly nodded and had the women clear out a space for me.
I took something out of my system storage space and went to the center of the room.
This was something that I had exchanged for from the daily shop.
I put it right there in the center and then stuck a few blades of grass into it.
The lackeys and Elder Tian immediately recognized what these blades of grass were.
Nine Lives Grass.
This was the Nine Lives Grass that I had taken out before.
But they didn’t recognize the thing that I had put the blades of grass into since they weren’t from my previous world.
This was something from the system, but it was similar to something from my previous world.
A scent diffuser, that was what I had stuck the blades of grass into.
There was a refreshing scent that filled the room right away, but there was no one that could figure out what I was planning to do with this.
Still, I gave a satisfied nod when I smelled this scent in the air.
I turned back to my lackeys and Elder Tian to say, "Let’s go, we’re leaving."
The village chief was shocked when he heard this, but he didn’t let us go that easily.
He quickly came forward and grabbed my knees as he said, "My lord, is there anything that we have done to offend you? Please don’t leave us during our darkest moment!"
But I just pushed the village chief off and said, "We have other business to attend to, so stop getting in our way."
The village chief had a very aggrieved look when he heard this, but he could see that I couldn’t be convinced. So instead, the village chief turned to look at the others as if he was asking them for help.
The lackeys had no choice but to turn away.
Even though they had no idea what I was planning to do, they had no choice but to support me since I was their young master.
Elder Tian also had an awkward look on his face, but he also remained silent.
Like this, we left this village and headed off to the other villages.
In those villages, we did the same thing as the first village where I just put a scent diffuser with the Nine Lives Grass down in the area with seriously injured people.
But we never did anything else to help them and the same situation happened where the village chief would beg us not to leave.
I just ignored all of them.
When we were done touring the village, I said, "Let’s head back to town."
The lackeys all had very confused looks like they wanted to ask me what I was doing, but I refused to elaborate since time was of the essence.
