Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 122: Back on the road
With Jiang Yu Ning’s family settled, there was nothing left for us to do here.
I was still on a journey for experience, or rather I was on a journey to complete my mission.
There wasn’t time to waste here.
After what had happened in that town, I could see that my mission progress had surged.
It had gone from 30 all the way up to 99.
On the map that the system provided, I could see that it wasn’t just the town that I was in previously that was lit up. There was also red showing that my prestige had spread in the surrounding villages.
But thinking about it, that made sense.
After all, the Iron Head Gang and the Heavenly Trend Sect didn’t just operate in that town alone. They most likely also extorted and harassed people in the surrounding villages as well.
Since I was the one that had taken care of them, it wasn’t strange that my fame had spread to the surrounding villages.
That was the main reason why I had left the punishment for Iron Head to those people in the slum in the first place.
It was all to raise my own fame.
Though thinking about it, this had only increased my fame by 69...it really was a small amount...
Still, this was just the beginning. There was no doubt that this would spread and it would be a matter of time before my reputation was built.
The other strange thing was that...there was this red dot in the middle of nowhere showing that I had gained some fame in that place. This was a place that was far away from the area that the town and villages were in, so it shouldn’t have been a place where red would have spread.
It also wasn’t the place where the Star Peak Sect was located.
That was another patch of red that was on the map that was further away than this place.
So it was clear that this was some other place that had learned of me.
But why...?
Was it that the Heavenly Trend Sect had a boss that they reported to and they found out that I had destroyed the Heavenly Trend Sect?
If that was the case, wouldn’t it just be a matter of time before they came back with stronger people to take revenge or at least send people to find out what happened here?
With the fame that I had now, it would only be a matter of time before they found out that it was me who took down the Heavenly Trend Sect.
It seemed that no good deed went unpunished...
Still, it wasn’t as if I was worried.
If I was ever in danger, there was the system’s protection system that would save me. So if they came, it would actually be good for me since that would help me increase my fame. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
It was just a good thing that I knew about this potential threat.
But it turned out that I was thinking too much...
"I’m coming with you."
I was surprised when I heard Jiang Yu Ning say this.
I had offered to let her stay here and help her family settle for a few days, but she had insisted on coming with us to complete this mission even though she had no cultivation at all.
Of course, I didn’t miss the look that she gave Gao Fu Shuai during this.
It didn’t seem like I could convince her and I didn’t really want to stop her, so I said to Gao Fu Shuai, "You’ll protect her."
He was surprised to hear this, but he gave a nod before heading over to Jiang Yu Ning’s side.
Like this, we went back to the town.
It was early in the morning since we had stayed the night in the sect and I found that Elder Tian was still sitting there on the bed cultivating.
When he felt us appear, he opened his eyes and said, "I’ve already reported this matter to the Central Sect Alliance. They will send someone to verify this information, but you don’t need to worry about it."
I was surprised to hear this, but then I slowly put the pieces together.
The Central Sect Alliance...
So I asked, "When did you send the message to the Central Sect Alliance?"
This time, it was Elder Tian’s turn to be surprised since he never thought that I would ask him such a thing.
Elder Tian just casually said, "I sent it last night."
This wasn’t what I wanted to know, so I kept asking, "No, I mean, will they have already received it?"
Elder Tian had a trace of understanding in his eyes when he heard this before explaining, "There’s a special method that the Central Sect Alliance has given to each of the sects so they can communicate with each other if need be. As the great elder of our Falling Star Sect, naturally I have access to this. So it reached them as soon as I sent it."
There was a small part of me that felt impressed by this, but I gave a nod to show that I understood.
Though I didn’t know exactly what he used, I was sure that it was some kind of special method that cultivators used to talk to each other from large distances.
This was something that I couldn’t help feeling excited by since this was the kind of thing that I had only ever read about before.
To see it in real life was certainly something exciting.
But putting that aside, it was time for us to head off.
Since Elder Tian said that their inspector would come independently, then there was nothing for me to care about until they finished with that. What was more important to me was going out and establishing my fame as a prodigal young master, for my system quest!
So I didn’t waste any time and headed out of town.
