Walker Of The Worlds-Chapter 3559: Conditions To Enter The Mother Forest
Hearing Miyeon’s words, Daoist Chu nodded slowly. "That would make sense."
But his expression remained slightly uncertain.
"Although I am not completely sure how much influence my position carries outside the Western Immortal Court’s primary territories."
Lin Mu understood the concern.
The Immortal Court was vast, but its authority did not always carry equal weight in every region and world.
Some regions treated its envoys with immense respect while others were more independent. Not to mention Daoist Chu belonged to the Western Court and they were in the Eastern Court’s territory right now.
Lin Mu thought for a moment before asking another question.
"Is there any other way to gain entry?"
Huli Zu blinked.
Lin Mu added calmly.
"Money will not be an issue."
Cattaleya grinned slightly at that remark, but Miyeon shook her head gently.
"It is not a matter of wealth."
Her tone carried quiet firmness.
"The Mother Forest is sacred to the foxkin."
She looked directly at Lin Mu.
"It is not something that can be bought."
Lin Mu did not appear offended. He simply nodded.
"That is understandable."
Miyeon continued. "Besides foxkin, there are only a few others permitted to enter."
"Who?" Meng Bai asked curiously.
Miyeon answered.
"Envoys of the Guardian Beasts."
Meng Bai blinked in surprise.
"The Guardian Beasts?"
Huli Zu nodded proudly. "Of course."
His posture straightened slightly as he spoke.
"All foxkin and most other beastkin tribes are devoted to the Guardian Beasts."
"It is through their grace that our ancestors discovered this world and established our home here."
Miyeon added quietly. "The Western Beast Lands were declared a sanctuary for beasts by the decree of the Guardian Beasts themselves."
Lin Mu listened carefully.
Miyeon continued explaining.
"There are also rumors that certain powerful beasts living within the Western Beast Lands carry traces of the bloodlines of the Four Guardian Beasts."
Meng Bai’s eyes widened. "Descendants of the Guardian Beasts?"
Huli Zu nodded. "Some say so."
He shrugged slightly. "Though no one truly knows how much of that is legend. We have far too little contact with the Western Beast Lands. Perhaps only once in every ten years does the council get their reports from the outposts there."
Still, the idea was impressive.
Everyone at the table seemed intrigued. For Lin Mu, however, the news carried deeper significance. The Guardian Beasts held a special place in his own cultivation journey. Knowing that they were revered strongly within this world gave him an unexpected sense of relief.
If the Guardian Beasts had influence here, then certain... possibilities might exist.
Lin Mu thought quietly for a moment before speaking again.
"In that case," he said calmly, "would it be possible for me to visit a temple of the Guardian Beasts?"
Huli Zu’s ears perked up immediately.
"Of course!"
"There are many temples and shrines dedicated to the Guardian Beasts across our world. Both ones made by people on their own as well as those made officially by the Immortal Court."
He tapped his chin thoughtfully.
"But the largest official one nearby is located within the capital city of the Huli Kingdom."
"About six hundred kilometers from here." Miyeon added.
"That temple is maintained jointly by the Immortal Court branch and the foxkin administration."
Lin Mu nodded.
"Then I would like to visit it."
Daoist Chu glanced toward Lin Mu. He had traveled with him long enough to recognize that tone. Lin Mu was thinking about something. Probably more than simply paying respects.
Daoist Chu turned toward Huli Zu.
"The Immortal Court branch you mentioned... is it located in the capital as well?" he guessed.
Huli Zu nodded.
"Yes."
"The Immortal Court branch and the Guardian Beast temple are both located there."
Daoist Chu stroked his beard.
"Then that simplifies things."
Lin Mu nodded in agreement.
"It seems the capital city will be our next destination."
Just as they were about to continue planning, Miyeon spoke again.
"We will accompany you."
Huli Zu blinked.
"...What?"
He turned toward his sister in confusion.
"You mean we’re going too?"
Miyeon nodded calmly.
"Yes."
Huli Zu opened his mouth to protest.
But Miyeon raised a finger and cut him off.
"We need to submit the quarterly report anyway."
Huli Zu froze.
His fox ears slowly stood upright.
Then his eyes widened dramatically.
"That’s right!"
He slapped his forehead.
"I completely forgot!"
Miyeon sighed.
A long, weary sigh that suggested this was not the first time such a thing had happened.
"You forget every quarter," she said flatly.
Huli Zu scratched his cheek awkwardly.
"Well... it just slipped my mind this time."
Miyeon crossed her arms.
"Your job is literally managing the teleportation hall... You should probably remember when the reports are due."
Huli Zu laughed nervously.
"It barely slipped my mind."
Miyeon stared at him.
Silence filled the room for a moment.
Then she shook her head.
"You should focus more on your duties."
Her fox ears twitched slightly.
"Otherwise you might actually lose your position."
Huli Zu waved his hands quickly.
"Now now, let’s not exaggerate."
He glanced toward Lin Mu’s group with an embarrassed grin.
"See what I have to deal with?"
Miyeon gave him a perfectly calm smile.
"You deal with paperwork."
"You just forget to do it."
Cattaleya snorted loudly, Elyon hid a faint smirk and even Daoist Chu chuckled softly.
Huli Zu sighed dramatically.
"Ah, the suffering of elder brothers."
Miyeon rolled her eyes.
But despite the mild scolding, a faint warmth lingered between them.
Their sibling dynamic was clear.
Miyeon was the responsible one.
And Huli Zu... was not.
Still smiling, Huli Zu clapped his hands together.
"Well then!"
"It seems we are all heading to the capital together."
He looked toward Lin Mu.
"If you are ready, we can depart soon."
Lin Mu nodded.
"How soon is that?" He asked just in case.
In response, Huli Zu looked at his sister, who sighed again.
"Give me a few hours. I’ll finish some work, then get the guards to prepare for our departure." She shook her head and got up.
