Villainess X Villain: They are obsessed with each other!-Chapter 76 -: 75 Did they play me?
"Haaa, fresh air..." Julius muttered as he stepped out of his mansion.
It was a sunny day, and the warm breeze felt refreshing on his skin.
"Papa, are you still in pain?" Rosel asked worriedly.
She held his right hand tightly.
After she woke up and saw Julius awake, she had cried and hugged him tightly for hours.
"Don’t worry," Julius said with a smile. He knelt down so their eyes were at the same level.
"I’m as strong as a bull!" He smirked and gently rubbed her head. "Your papa is the strongest, after all."
Rosel blinked innocently. "But Mommy said she is the strongest. She even beat you!"
Julius laughed softly. "Well, she is the strongest woman. And I’m the strongest man."
He patted her head, then easily picked her up and held her in his arms. "You’re still as light as a feather. Are you skipping meals?"
Rosel shook her head quickly. "Umhm!" She started playing with his hair, twisting the strands between her small fingers.
Just then, Alfred approached from behind.
"My lord," he said, holding out a folded paper. "Here is the data you asked for."
"Oh? You already finished?" Julius raised an impressed eyebrow and took the paper with his free hand.
"Is everything written here? The dates and times too?"
"Yes, my lord. Everything is accurate," Alfred replied with a nod.
"Alright," Julius hummed as he scanned the paper.
It listed every spy Alfred had caught and questioned over the past months, along with exact dates and times.
"They didn’t say who sent them?" Julius asked, still looking at the paper.
"No, my lord. Their memories were erased. They didn’t know who gave the orders or why."
"It’s almost impossible to track them back to the source. From what I found, they seem connected to the black market... but even that trail goes cold quickly."
"Hmm..." Julius let out a small sigh as he kept reading.
"This covers the past four months, right?" he asked.
"Yes, my lord," Alfred confirmed.
Julius nodded. That made sense. He had only been in this body for four months.
Anything before that belonged to the old Julius, back at the family estate.
He continued reading the numbers: 1, 0, 2, 3... until his eyes suddenly widened.
"Fifteen?" he said, surprised.
It was only the second day of the second week since he had arrived at the academy.
"Alfred," Julius called again, his brows pulling together.
"You remember the day I proposed to Rosalina, right?"
"Yes," Alfred nodded as he stepped closer.
"How could I forget? When I heard the rumors that my young master had proposed to the daughter of that useless patriarch from the Valentina family, I was almost having a breakdown."
Alfred always looked calm on the outside, but that day he had felt completely lost and didn’t know what to do.
"Here," Alfred continued, pointing at the paper.
"I circled the important dates when you did something big."
"Hmm?" Julius’s eyes narrowed even more as he looked. "That’s the day before the fifteen spies appeared..."
He frowned. ’Why would someone send fifteen spies to watch me? Could it be...?’
He scrolled down the list with his eyes.
"Are these spies from the Valentina family? Because I proposed to their daughter?" Julius asked, his brows pulling together tightly.
After that day, the numbers stayed high, 13, 12, 10, 14... It went on like that for the next two weeks. Then suddenly...
"Fifty?" Julius’s eyes widened like they were about to pop out.
"Such a huge jump? And there’s a circle here too?"
He noticed a circle drawn around a date two days before the big spike of fifty spies.
"Alfred..." Julius called, his voice serious. "Is this the day I rescued Rosel?"
Rosel, who was still happily playing with Julius’s hair, looked down at him curiously. Alfred glanced at the paper and nodded.
"Yes, my lord. That’s the day. I even warned you that someone was watching you very closely... and they seemed desperate."
Julius stared at the paper for a moment, thinking hard. Fifty people just to watch one person? That wasn’t normal at all.
He looked back at Alfred. "Did you kill everyone connected to that black market deal?"
"Yes," Alfred nodded calmly.
"I even took care of the whole family of the noble who bought Rosel. He’s a noble from the Holy Empire... known as the Lustful Noble."
"What was the exact date?" Julius asked.
"It was right after the day we found Rosel," Alfred said. He gently patted Rosel’s head and smiled as he explained everything.
Meanwhile, Julius felt very confused.
If everything had been cleaned up right away, then why was there such a big spike in spies after he brought Rosel home?
Julius’s confusion kept growing as he scrolled down the paper.
The numbers went up and down in a steady rhythm for a while. Then, another big spike jumped out at him.
"Sixty-five?!!"
His eyes nearly popped out of his head. ’What the fuck? Are these people idiots or something? Why are they sending so many spies?’
This new hike happened two months later, right around the time the Saint candidate appeared.
His head was spinning.
The first big jump to fifteen spies happened the day after he proposed to Rosalina.
That one he could understand.
It was probably the Valentina family keeping an eye on him.
Maybe even Rosalina herself wanted to watch his moves and figure out his real motives.
But the jump to fifty spies was much harder to explain.
He had made sure to kill everyone connected to the group that had kept Rosel and the other slaves.
So this could be someone higher up in that dirty business, someone he hadn’t caught yet, watching him for destroying their operation.
’Still... why this new spike to sixty-five?’
He read the small note beside the number. They had even tried to sneak into the mansion disguised as a new maid.
’But why would someone watch me so closely just because a Saint candidate showed up far away in the Holy Empire?’
Julius’s head spun even faster with confusion.
’Is there any character in TST who can see the future better than me?’
He thought back to the original story, but no matter how hard he tried, nothing came to mind.
The only person who could predict things was the Great Sanachi through his divination abilities.
So... was there someone else with future sight that he didn’t know about?
His brows furrowed deeper.
And then there was that mysterious person who had sent the warning about the divination board being stolen.
That person hadn’t used Julius’s real name, but they knew exactly what he was going to do.
’They knew me like the back of their hand... Did they play me?’
