Chapter 109: 109:Parasite

Lucian looked around; he was back in the dark space, but everything was different right now.

There was light but it wasn’t from the first whisp, this was something entirely different.

It looked like a larger version of a light crystal as it hung there illuminating him.

Lucian’s gaze didn’t leave the light, it was as though something was compelling him to take it, mesmerising him.

The urge was so strong that he felt his body unconsciously step forward but he gritted his teeth and restrained himself.

"You should take it."

"What is it?"

"You’ll know when you touch it."

A small mysterious chuckle came. Lucian stepped forward and touched the crystals.

No reaction.

A few moments of studying it yielded no result. The urge to take it had not disappeared it was still there.

Lucian did the only thing he could think of, he squeezed it. The crystal shattered into pieces.

The dust escaped from his hand and floated a few steps from him. It started to morph as it formed figures. Legs started, then thighs then the lower body was completed followed by the hands and chest then the head was fully formed.

The figure that emerged in front of him was the younger Lucian from his memories.

Right now, his body was filled with burning scars and only his face remained untouched.

Tears streamed down his face as he looked at Lucian emotionally.

"What is that?"

"Thats part of your soul. The souls contain your memory and this has been what you were missing."

The other lucians face twisted and a silent scream escaped him before he launched at Lucian.

Lucian didn’t even react, he kicked his younger version sending him stumbling back.

At that moment, a pain hit his stomach, the exact place he had kicked the soul.

"Why am I feeling pain?"

He asked through gritted teeth.

"Uts your soul lucian, be careful how you handle it."

The twisted soul stood up and tried to run towards him again. Chains shot out from below it and held it down.

"What now, why is it attacking me?"

"Of course it’s to feed on you."

"What?"

Lucian couldn’t understand it at all.

"This soul is a parasite, a soul that gained sentience after you lost your memories. It feeds on your power to grow stronger. If you had stayed with it longer, it would have fully stunted your growth or even worse, started to devour your soul. "

Lucian went pale, it had never really occurred to him that his own soul would parasite on his main one.

"Would I have been able to get rid of it?"

He asked hypothetically.

"May be may be not. I’ve seen cases of it taking full control of the body after devouring the main soul. It takes time but it’s much easier on the weak. Its impressive how far you’ve reached while carrying a costly leech around with you."

Lucian didn’t even try to avoid or ask another question, this was enough shock for him.

His gaze remained on the struggling soul. Its face had twisted to full-on boiling rage and frustration as he looked at him.

Lucian couldn’t believe the cute little him had turned into this wraith.

’Trauma can really do a lot to people huh"

Lucian didn’t feel any pity. These were things he had lived through and gotten his revenge and whatever resentment that was left behind he seems to be unaware of it.

"Why did you abandon me, just like the others you.."

The soul mumbled while looking up at Lucian. His venom and resentment towards him were clear on his face.

’Interesting’

"So you can talk huh... Where were your manners when you tried to attack me like a mindless brute?"

The soul scoffed.

"Why should I, if you had only been a little late i would have eventually devoured your soul!" He shouted his voice ringing even worse.

Lucian clicked his tongueout.

"Are you stupid or just plain naive. Think about it yourself, would you really have managed to do it?"

Lucian mocked him. The soul snapped up at him as he growled at him in both frustration and rage.

"You know it right. We’re here because I’m both lucky and talented. I can’t imagine you treated me as a juice box?"

"You don’t have to be so harsh to yourself, Lucian, that’s called being mean."

The voice came but Lucian didn’t care, he placed a hand on his shoulder and chuckled on his own.

"This is nothing but a mere part of my soul. Though it comes from me, I do not see it as part of me."

Lucian said, disdain filling his tone.

"Then kill the boy Lucian Bloodmoor.....and let the man rise."

The voice whispered in his ears a temptation he was ready to fall over.

"There are no repercussions for the death is there.?"

He hesitated again.

"Haha.. you are really cautious aren’t. No there will be no repercussion this is more beneficial to you. A soul that has gained sentience from its own is of no use, killing it will allow it to naturally merge with your body."

Lucian didn’t wait anymore. He summoned his sword and swung down splitting the shocked soul into two.

There was no expected blood, the soul broke into pieces before they bursted in the air and the dust rushed to Lucian.

Lucian accepted it all. It wasn’t painful as he had expected it felt as though he was welcoming a lost child home. He could feel it, deep down in his soul was repairing.

His body felt warm and comfortable at the same time. Then he felt it, his power increasing at an astronomical rate.

The size of his mana pool expanded even more, the red water was boiling as though it were on hot lava.

He could feel it the source of all the power pouring into him.

His soul was pouring the excess power the other soul had absorbed into his mana pool.

Lucian burst into laughter. It had been so long since he had laughed this freely but he couldn’t help it. This was just too incredible.

He felt his power shoot from twenty first star straight to the twenty-fourth star without any of the usual blockage.

His soul had fully repaired and was the normal black without any cracks.

"Look at that, you keep on exceeding my expectations, but you’re still too weak for this world."

Lucian didn’t pay too much attention to her words, he was still in the high of gaining sudden power.

He had suddenly become as powerful as his mother. He really couldn’t help but laugh inside even more wildly.

’Finally ’

He had expected it to take a year or two to reach the top but it seemed luck was on his side.

He looked up at the whisp and felt a sense of gratitude he had never felt before.

"Do you want to form a contract with me?"

He asked, a gamble. He wasn’t sure if she would even accept him but it doesn’t hurt to try.

The whisp was quiet before another chuckle escaped her.

"Why would I go through all this trouble if I wasn’t planning on forming a contract with you?"

"Okay, but I don’t even know what you are, I’ve only been communicating with a voice."

Lucian said. The space went quiet before the whisp started to expand becoming almost twice as big as him.

Lucian didn’t fill amy heat from the whisp despite being so near it.

The whisp pulsed for a second before it started to mold and shape itself. The head appeared, body, feet, and a tail.

What was left standing in front of him left Lucian stunned. Something so rare that it never crossed his mind that she might be it.

"I thought you were a fire dragon but..this ..ha.. I’m speechless.. A phoenix a bloody phoenix. "

The bird in front of him was beautiful. Red features that seemed to spill fire, orange eyes that looked at him as if he were an ant, and a tail that curled in the air beautifully.

At its head was a small crown that didn’t fall no matter how she moved.

"Take the crown and wear it on your finger, that will mark the start of our contract."

"And whoever breaks it?"

"Will be burnt in the ashes of nirvana."

They both agreed. Lucian placed the ring into his own hand. At that moment their was a small ripple in the air before the seal was formed curved into their brains and heart.

A small drawing appeared on the back of his hand marking their contract. Lucian smiled at the bird, finally, after going through all that, he had her in his grasp.

A phoenix, a bird that represents Rebirth. This was better than getting a dragon, much better.

The contract they had formed was a master and servant contract but it didn’t give either of them an advantage over the other.

They each had an equal say in the decision but what made Lucian sigh in relief was the fact that he didn’t have to worry about her loyalty.

She couldn’t betray him. If he were to die, she would follow right beside him. He didn’t know if she would reincarnate but that was more than enough for him.

"Can I ask for your name?"
