Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 226 - 220 Han Country Han Youzhen
Senior Brother even knows foreigners? And she’s a...
Even to Chairman Kang’s eyes, this woman from Han Country was a beauty. As expected of a former tributary state of our country, this Han Youzhen possessed a touch of our nation’s classical beauty. Drawing on his years of medical knowledge and observing her behavior, Chairman Kang concluded that while she’d had some cosmetic treatments, she hadn’t undergone plastic surgery. In a small country like Han Country, that was indeed a rarity.
As for why this woman knew his Senior Brother while he acted like he didn’t recognize her, Chairman Kang was utterly puzzled.
After Chairman Kang brought Wang Lei and the others to the hotel, he finally learned about the previous night’s incident.
The evening before meeting Han Youzhen, Wang Lei and Yu Yen had already planned everything. When Han Youzhen met them at the train station, she was walking right into a sweet trap set by the two of them.
If I had known about this in advance, I would have definitely talked some sense into Wang Lei, urging him not to listen to Yu Yen’s nonsense. Back in the day... I was persuaded by Yu Yen to come all the way from Capital City to Paigou Village to chase after Ren Yu. If it had actually worked, I might have revered Yu Yen as some kind of love guru. But as luck would have it, not only did it fail, but I was also seen as a pervert or someone who wasn’t all there. After I became good friends with Wang Jian, I even specifically asked him about it. As far as I’m concerned, for Wang Jian to get along with so many women, he must have some special talent. He claimed it was slander and that he didn’t have that many women, but in my eyes, that was just a blatant cover-up.
But I digress. From what he learned from Wang Jian, Chairman Kang realized that his actions—chasing her directly to Paigou Village—would have terrified any normal person. It was anything but romantic. How many trashy romance novels would someone have to read to think that was a romantic gesture?
After that disaster, Chairman Kang felt he had finally woken up. He didn’t consider himself a fool, so he would never do something so stupid again.
It was just a shame for the young lad, Wang Lei. When Chairman Kang found out that Wang Lei, "inspired" by Yu Yen, had prepared a surprise for Han Youzhen on the train, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He figured that unless something went completely sideways, this surprise was bound to become a scare.
And that’s exactly what happened. If Han Youzhen hadn’t been so good-tempered, Wang Lei and his accomplice might have been "invited for tea" by the authorities.
Since it wasn’t peak travel season, their sleeper car was mostly empty. As Han Youzhen was a young woman traveling alone, she had a compartment to herself. Yu Yen’s grand strategy was to have Wang Lei hide in the compartment beforehand, then suddenly jump out with a gift. After all, women love surprises and romance. With a double assault of both, how could Han Youzhen not be won over? Yu Yen was utterly confident, possessing an air of guaranteed victory. Even Wang Lei was swept up in it, dreaming of winning the beauty’s heart and saying goodbye to his virginity that very night.
One had the guts to teach, and the other had the guts to learn.
When an excited Wang Lei crawled out from under the bunk to surprise Han Youzhen, she happened to be changing her clothes. It was early autumn, and she was wearing something thin. All Wang Lei saw was a flash of white and some floral underwear before she kicked him unconscious. The last thing he heard before blacking out was her piercing scream.
The incident even attracted the train attendants and railway police. It was ultimately dismissed as a farcical misunderstanding, but Wang Lei suffered a complete social death. If Han Youzhen hadn’t been so kind as to not press the issue, he would have been facing charges of sexual harassment and indecency at the very least. He would have become infamous throughout the school in less than a day. At that point, forget about dating—his entire future would have been in jeopardy.
Both Wang Lei and Yu Yen were mortified. In the end, they offered to cover all of Han Youzhen’s travel expenses, which served as a way for them to atone and channel their overwhelming guilt. As the "Boss," Yu Yen insisted on shouldering the entire cost, covering Wang Lei’s share as well.
After hearing their story, Chairman Kang was speechless. I almost became a stalker thanks to his advice...
In the hotel room, after listening to their tale, Chairman Kang said earnestly, "Boss, you should really stop giving people advice. I’m afraid you’re going to get someone sent straight to the police station."
Taking his cue, Wang Lei jumped in, adding fuel to the fire. "Exactly! Last time it was Chairman Kang, this time it was me. I’m seriously worried you’re going to get Number Three sent to jail next."
Hearing this, Yu Yen’s entire face flushed a deep red. He looked embarrassed and wanted to argue, but after a moment of reflection, he seemed to realize he really wasn’t cut out for being a strategist. He gave a firm nod, finally taking Chairman Kang’s words to heart.
With that matter settled, Wang Lei’s ambitions toward Han Youzhen had mostly evaporated. Now, he just hoped they could remain friends, and that was that.
Once that was resolved, Chairman Kang remembered something else about Han Youzhen and quickly asked, "Right, Wang Lei, your goddess Han Youzhen..."
"Whoa, wait a second," Wang Lei cut in, a look of lingering fear on his face. "Let’s not use that title. Han Youzhen is just Han Youzhen. Don’t you dare call her my goddess again. This monk has found enlightenment. Amen." He shot a glare at Yu Yen before turning back to Chairman Kang.
Chairman Kang chuckled. "I was just wondering about her. When I picked you guys up earlier, did you notice how she looked at my Senior Brother? It was like she’d seen him before. But when I asked him, he said he’d never met her."
"Really?" Yu Yen looked stunned. He wracked his brain but couldn’t recall seeing anything like that. He hadn’t been paying attention.
Wang Lei looked over as well. Like Yu Yen, he had been too busy dwelling on his social death on the train to notice anything else. "I didn’t see it either. But your Senior Brother used to work at Kyoto Hospital, right? Maybe he treated Han Youzhen there?"
It was a plausible theory, but something about it felt off to Chairman Kang. He countered, "When you go to a doctor, do you remember who they are unless you see them every day?"
"That’s true," Yu Yen and Wang Lei nodded. Wang Lei then added, "Youzhen is from Han Country. Has your Senior Brother ever been there?"
Chairman Kang shook his head. As far as he knew, Wang Jian had never been abroad or studied overseas, so that theory was out.
"So it seems Han Youzhen and your Senior Brother, Wang Jian, couldn’t possibly know each other," Yu Yen concluded.
Then could it be... the girl fell in love with him at first sight? Damn!
The thought made Chairman Kang look at Wang Lei with a new sense of pity. This is all too familiar. When I was pursuing Ren Yu, didn’t I almost push her into Wang Jian’s arms? Thank God they’re siblings, even if not by blood... Surely Wang Lei’s girl, Han Youzhen, isn’t about to fall for my Senior Brother too?
He hadn’t considered it at first, but now he recalled Han Youzhen’s strange expression when she saw Wang Jian. She had even blushed before striking up a conversation with him. All the signs seemed to point to his suspicion being correct. Chairman Kang couldn’t bring himself to say it out loud, so he swallowed his theory. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Of course, he had no way of knowing that Han Youzhen had indeed met Wang Jian before and had been left with an impression so deep it was impossible to erase. In fact, for several nights afterward, she was haunted by dreams of the noises she had heard on the train. So, upon seeing Wang Jian again, she was both startled and inexplicably shy, and found herself talking to him before she even realized it.
Over the years, Wang Jian had honed his ability to chat with strangers, so the two of them easily fell into conversation. This was the illusion that Chairman Kang had witnessed.
If he ever found out that Han Youzhen’s unforgettable impression of Wang Jian was formed because she had overheard the "two-player game" between him and Ren Yu in the bunk below, Chairman Kang would surely be completely and utterly astounded.
