Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 180 - 175 They are being unreasonable
What kind of woman was Song Tianran? She certainly wasn’t the type to blush at a crude joke. If you tried to engage in some risqué banter with her, her speed would outmatch yours and go straight to the fast lane.
So after hearing Wang Jian’s "compliment," she simply rolled her eyes, fully aware he wasn’t being sincere.
Seeing her roll her eyes at his comment, Wang Jian couldn’t lie still any longer. "What’s with that look? I can feel the disdain."
"HAHAHAHAHA."
That remark made Song Tianran burst out laughing. "You’re just telling me what I want to hear. As if I’d believe you."
"So you’re not happy even when I say nice things?"
The two of them bantered back and forth until they eventually dozed off, sleeping all the way until noon. The hotel’s blackout curtains were extremely effective. If it hadn’t been for a phone call, the two of them might still be asleep.
Clearly, Song Tianran had come prepared, as not a single person from the Song Family had called her. Or perhaps Song Yijin knew something and had deliberately arranged for their peace and quiet.
In any case, the call was for Wang Jian. The caller ID displayed Peng Qing’s name.
Seeing the name, Wang Jian’s first thought was that something might be wrong with Peng Pingan. After all, Ping An was his disciple, so Wang Jian answered immediately without a second thought.
"Hello?"
As soon as he spoke, Peng Qing’s voice came from the other end. His tone was calm and a little apologetic, which immediately put Wang Jian at ease.
"Doctor Wang, sorry to disturb you," Peng Qing said. "Did you just wake up?"
Peng Qing could naturally detect the slight laziness in Wang Jian’s voice.
"Mhm, I’m at a hotel. I lost track of time and didn’t realize it was already noon when I woke up."
A hotel?
Peng Qing was curious but didn’t press the issue, instead asking, "I heard from Lao Cai that you’re in Capital City, is that right?"
"Yes," Wang Jian replied, not surprised that Peng Qing knew his whereabouts. Cai Qiong knew he was bringing Ren Yu to school, so it was easy for Peng Qing to find out through their family. It wasn’t a secret. "I dropped my sister off at school and had some business of my own, so I decided to stay for a few more days."
"Oh?" Peng Qing frowned, worried that Wang Jian’s business would interfere with his request. He asked tentatively, "I was wondering, do you have any time today?"
"Today?" Wang Jian thought for a moment. He had planned to go to the hospital for a follow-up to check on his sister-in-law and the fetus. Other than that, his schedule was clear. Hearing the tone in Peng Qing’s voice, he could tell the man needed a favor, so he didn’t beat around the bush. "I should have some time. Is something wrong with Ping An?"
"No, no." Relieved that Wang Jian was available, Peng Qing continued, "Ping An is fine... It’s just... well, this is my fault."
As Peng Qing hemmed and hawed, Wang Jian reassured him, "You don’t have to be so polite. Just tell me what’s on your mind."
"Well, I brought Ping An back to Capital City, right? A group of doctors ran some tests on him and discovered that all of his illnesses are gone."
"Isn’t that a good thing?" Wang Jian asked, puzzled. "I told you before, as long as he can control the qi in his body, he shouldn’t have any problems."
It had only been a short time, so Wang Jian himself was a little surprised. His disciple’s talent truly embodied the term ’exceptionally gifted.’ This innate qi provided a starting point far beyond what one could achieve through training alone.
Peng Qing quickly agreed, "It is a good thing, but not only are his old ailments gone, his body has also been steadily recovering. The speed of his recovery terrified that group of doctors. They kept saying it was unscientific."
Hearing this, Wang Jian had a pretty good idea of what the problem was. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Let me guess, those doctors want to know who cured Ping An, and they want to know how it was done?"
The moment Wang Jian said it, Peng Qing laughed hastily. "That’s exactly it! I was originally planning to dismiss them, but you wouldn’t believe it... these people started acting like spoiled brats and refused to leave. If it were just one of them, I could have used some force and sent him packing. But this is a whole group of internationally renowned experts. If this blows up, I’ll have no choice but to stand by and watch. I never expected a group of professionals to act like children."
Peng Qing’s tone was filled with helplessness toward the eminent doctors. It was a rare situation for a powerful man like him to feel so powerless. It must have been what it felt like for a scholar trying to reason with a soldier.
Wang Jian chuckled to himself but offered a suggestion, "Did you tell them that Ping An was never actually sick in the first place?"
"I did, of course I did," Peng Qing said with a bitter smile. "It was only after I told them that they started throwing their tantrum. I really was at my wit’s end... Sigh. I had no other choice but to call Lao Cai and vent. Who knew he’d mention you were also in Capital City? So, I called you right away. I was hoping to ask if you had some time. Maybe you could come over and talk to them yourself? Do you think that would work?"
Wang Jian mulled it over. Even through the phone, he could sense Peng Qing’s desperation, so he didn’t hesitate for long before agreeing.
Hearing his consent, Peng Qing quickly gave him the address. After hanging up, he even sent Wang Jian a follow-up message on WeChat, emphasizing that he could come whenever was convenient and that there was no rush. He even offered to send a driver to pick him up as soon as Wang Jian gave the word.
Wang Jian merely glanced at the messages before setting his phone aside.
He was still curious about the woman beside him. Throughout their entire encounter, he hadn’t even felt the faintest trace of body hair. While this was enjoyable in its own way, Wang Jian couldn’t help but wonder.
How did she maintain her skin? It was darker than that of most women and constantly exposed to the wind and sun, so it should have been much rougher. Yet, her skin was far better than most. And despite being nearly thirty, she had the texture of a college student. Just how tender was it? This was a sensation that, perhaps, only he could ever know.
The two of them didn’t get out of bed until they were both starving.
After a few light bites, Song Tianran gave up. "No, I can’t," she exclaimed. "I’m too exhausted. I need to sleep." That was only after Wang Jian had fed her a couple of mouthfuls of breakfast. If she had been left to her own devices, she wouldn’t have even had the strength to eat.
Song Tianran glanced weakly at the hotel clock and smiled in satisfaction. It was already one in the afternoon. "You have things to do. You should get going, it’s getting late."
She shooed him out of the room.
Wang Jian chuckled mischievously but didn’t tease her any further.
According to her original plan, she was supposed to go shopping with Wang Jian today, but now she didn’t feel like moving a muscle. Luckily, Wang Jian had his own business to attend to in the afternoon, so she was more than happy to have some peace and quiet. Just sprawling out on the bed was the perfect activity for the day.
Not long after she watched Wang Jian leave, she fell fast asleep.
