Chapter 44: Miss Silvia is an aviator

’How on earth could Miss Silvia be a former Aviator?’

The thought burned in his mind, making his senses flare with a mix of shock and pure adrenaline.

He knew something had to be wrong. Miss Silvia was just a teacher at the school, a target of perverts like Alex and the Vice Principal.

She couldn’t possibly be one of the legendary Aviators.

But as much as he wanted to deny it, he knew the System didn’t make mistakes.

It wasn’t a person; it didn’t have feelings, and it didn’t tell lies to make people feel better.

If the System labeled her as an Aviator, then that was the absolute truth.

Trevor began to pace frantically back and forth in his small room, his footsteps heavy on the floorboards.

The legends of the Aviators were famous throughout the land. Everyone knew the story: they had all been wiped out in a great catastrophe, leaving only his mother behind, cursed and destined to fade away within a year.

But what if those legends were wrong? What if the history books were filled with lies?

He stopped pacing and took a long, deep breath, trying to force his brain to connect the dots.

Everything was finally starting to make sense, but the picture it painted was terrifying.

Either Miss Silvia had been part of the group that betrayed the Aviators and set up the mission to kill them, or there was a massive secret hidden from him and every other person that knew about the aviators.

At this point, Trevor realized he couldn’t trust anyone.

"I have to get into the Guild Trials," he whispered to the empty room.

That was the only way. Once he joined a guild, he could get his hands on classified information and restricted files.

Only then could he find out who had truly destroyed his family and why Miss Silvia was hiding in plain sight.

"For now, I have to play it cool," he told himself, finally sitting back down on his bed.

’Even if she is a suspect, I can’t let her see that I’m suspicious. I have to act like the same student she thinks I am’

He spent the next few hours planning out the next few days of his life with cold precision.

First, he would finish his books on Ancient Magic and Dungeons tonight, no matter how tired he got.

Then, tomorrow morning, he would ask Caroline to teach him combat. She had a raw, powerful combat essence, which was exactly what he needed to sharpen his physical skills.

He was a hundred percent sure that if he could combine his magic with her fighting style, he would have more than enough experience to crush the trials.

Trevor opened his system space one last time. He saw that he was already at Level 12. It was a remarkable achievement.

He knew most of the students in his class were struggling to stay above Level 10. Even Levi, who acted like he was the king of the school, was only at Level 11.

Knowing he had already surpassed the "top" student gave Trevor a much-needed boost of confidence.

He actually had a real chance to survive what was coming.

Without another word, Trevor picked up his book on Ancient Magic and began to read.

He didn’t want to waste another second dwelling on his fears. What he needed now was action.

He got comfortable and immersed himself in the study ancient magic.

hours and hours ticked by.

By the time he finished the book on Ancient Magic, he was buzzing with excitement.

He wanted to jump up and try out the techniques immediately, but he knew better. He still had a massive book on Dungeons to get through and he honestly didn’t want to waste any time

The morning sun rose high into the sky, sending bright rays of light through the window to wake the world.

Trevor was still in his bed, sleeping soundly while clutching the Dungeon book against his chest like it was his most prized possession.

Slowly, the warmth of the sun hit his face, dragging him out of his deep sleep.

Trevor opened his eyes and blinked at the ceiling.

At first, he was just confused, but then he looked at the clock and nearly jumped out of his skin.

realizing he was running out of time. He hadn’t even finished half of the Dungeon book.

He jerked out of bed and began rushing around the room, preparing for school while cursing himself for falling asleep.

He quickly made breakfast for his mother, kissed her goodbye, and sprinted out the door.

He was definitely late, but with the Hunter Recruitment trials coming up, he couldn’t afford to miss a single day.

He wasn’t planning on becoming a hunter for the government, but he needed to go to the recruit sessions.

It was important to know exactly how his enemies prepared to fight.

When he finally made it to class, he slumped into his usual seat beside Caroline. His eyes were red and heavy, and he kept sleeping off while the teachers spoke.

He tried to hide his Dungeon book under his desk to keep reading, but he was too exhausted. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

He ended up sleeping through almost every single period of the day.

Caroline watched him the whole time, giggling quietly to herself.

She spent most of the day playing with his face, poking his cheeks or adjusting his hair while he snored softly, completely unaware of what she was doing.

By the time the last class of the day arrived, Trevor was finally starting to wake up. He stretched his stiff arms and looked at the board.

Miss Vincent was teaching Essence Mastery, a branch of Modern Magic. Trevor didn’t care about it anymore.

Modern Magic felt weak and limited compared to the ancient powers he had been reading about all night.

"Are you alright? It looks like you haven’t slept in ages," Caroline said with a wide smile on her face.

Yesterday, Trevor had been the main topic of the class group chat because of how he had acted with Caroline.

He had seen the messages—the ones that tagged him and the ones that didn’t. He saw Levi trying to talk trash and turn people against him, but none of that mattered.

He had too much on his plate to care about school gossip.

"Yeah, I’m fine. I just stayed up a little too late last night," he said calmly, flipping through the pages of his book.

They talked and joked around for a while as the class finally came to an end.

"So, who are you meeting today?" Caroline asked playfully as she packed her bags.

"Is it Miss Silvia? Or maybe Chloe? Who is the lucky lady today?" Caroline tried joking around

Trevor paused, turning to look her directly in the eyes. He wanted to make sure she knew he was serious.

"Well, I was actually wondering something," Trevor said, his voice steady.

"I was wondering if you could teach me combat. I mean, tomorrow is Saturday, and it would be a really great day to learn some new moves. What do you think? Would you be willing to help me out?"

He looked at her with a desperate, hopeful smile, waiting for her answer.
