Chapter 187: Master looks pretty.

Han Xin, who had been typing on his phone, froze, listening in. Xiang Yu corrected her, "No, I am a single dad."

The woman’s eyes shone with interest. "Which school are they going to?"

"Ridgeview Academy," Xiang Yu replied. It was the prestigious school where politicians and the wealthy sent their kids, thanks to old Song’s connections. For the girls’ safety, he preferred the most secure school money could buy.

The woman’s eyes beamed. "What a coincidence! My Yeiju is going to the same school. Here, let me add you to the parent group. It’s mostly filled with moms, but since you’re their only parent, I can add you."

Xiang Yu smiled and took out his phone, swiping away the annoying notifications on his lock screen. He scanned the code and added her on WeChat. "Done," she said after adding him. She suddenly remarked, "Too bad I am married. A lot of single moms are going to love you."

Xiang Yu chuckled, finding it amusing. The woman then said, "Is it me, or did it get a little chilly? They said the weather would be good today. What’s going on?"

Xiang Yu didn’t feel the chill but noticed clouds gathering outside despite the forecast for a sunny day.

Han Zhan sat opposite Little Bai in the coffee shop, an evil smile playing on his lips. He hadn’t invited Little Bai just for coffee; he had a more insidious purpose. He wanted Little Bai to spill the tea on Xiang Yu. Unaware of the true reason for the meeting, Little Bai sipped his iced coffee, a new experience for him.

"So, do you like it?" Han Zhan asked, his voice smooth.

Little Bai nodded, sucking on the straw. Han Zhan’s smile widened, revealing his sharp canine teeth. "So, what does Xiang Yu do in his spare time, other than going to the Pink Cherry?"

Little Bai choked on his drink, coughing violently. Han Zhan handed him a paper towel, his smile never wavering. Why did Han Zhan care about Xiang Yu’s free time? It was his job to know everything about the people working for Han Xin.

Little Bai wiped his mouth, his eyes wary. "Why are you asking this?"

Han Zhan shrugged, taking a leisurely sip of his coffee. He knew more than he let on, even about Peng Xiu’s secret body pillow of Han Xin, though he had never mentioned it to his cousin. "I don’t think it’s appropriate to tell you about Yu-ge," Little Bai said cautiously.

"Okay," Han Zhan replied, seemingly unfazed. But later on as they left the coffee shop to join the others for dinner, Little Bai was unusually quiet, the weight of the conversation lingering in his mind.

***

Lian and Mei were bubbling with excitement as they left the hair salon, their new haircuts bouncing with each step. "Master, do we look pretty?" they asked in unison, their eyes wide with anticipation.

Xiang Yu smiled sweetly. "Yes, you look very pretty," he assured them.

Mei glanced at Xiang Yu’s freshly manicured nails. "Master, your nails are so pretty! They look like mine."

Lian chimed in, "And mine too!"

Mei turned to Han Xin, who was walking behind them. "What do you think, does my master look pretty?"

Xiang Yu was about to tell her to stop asking silly questions when Han Xin suddenly took his hand, studying the nail art as if it were a priceless canvas. Xiang Yu’s breath caught in his throat, the chill from Han Xin’s fingers searing through his skin. He had a strong urge to intertwine their fingers but restrained himself. In his mind, he muttered to the divine emperor, Don’t blame me, old man, he touched me first but the old man seemed offline and didn’t witness this little incident.

Han Zhan, who had just received a call from his cousin, froze upon seeing Han Xin holding Xiang Yu’s hand. When had Han Xin ever touched someone of his own initiative? Xiang Yu pulled his hand back after noticing Han Xin holding it for too long. Han Xin snapped out of it and said, "It looks nice. Pink is really your colour."

Xiang Yu was speechless. Seeing his reaction, Han Xin smiled slightly, seeming proud of himself. They walked to the car, and Han Xin announced, "I will treat you all to dinner."

Lian and Mei cheered, "Yay!" as they climbed into the car. Xiang Yu clenched his fist, the tingling sensation from Han Xin’s touch still lingering on his skin. He was truly struggling to keep his distance from Han Xin. At this rate, he might defy the divine emperor and pursue him. He took a deep breath and entered the front passenger seat.

As he buckled his seatbelt, Xiang Yu asked, "Where are we going to have dinner?"

"Somewhere special," Han Xin replied.

Xiang Yu arched an eyebrow. "Okay," he said, looking away.

Han Zhan, sitting in the back, narrowed his eyes, sensing something off. Why did it look like Han Xin was the dad, Xiang Yu the mom, the twins the children, and he and Little Bai the third-wheel uncles with no life? He turned to Little Bai and whispered, "Is Xiang Yu into men as well?"

Little Bai, feeling guilty for divulging too much earlier, stubbornly shut his mouth. Han Zhan sighed. "It’s not like I am asking if he’s a criminal," he muttered, but Little Bai made a motion like he was zipping his lips.

Han Zhan, "..."

He could only shake his head in frustration.

Han Xin pulled the car up to the entrance of a five-star seaside hotel. "We are here," he announced as the valet opened the car doors for them. Handing over the keys, Han Xin led the group into the opulent lobby, the scent of fresh flowers and the sound of a grand piano filling the air.

They stepped into the elevator, and Xiang Yu instinctively moved to the back. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Han Xin had deliberately waited for him to enter first, just so he could stand beside him. It was a small gesture, but it made Xiang Yu’s heart race.

"Where are we going?" Lian asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"There is a restaurant on the rooftop," Han Xin replied, his voice calm and reassuring.

Han Zhan remained silent, his mind a whirl of thoughts. This restaurant was Han Xin’s favourite, a place he rarely shared with anyone. It would make sense if he were bringing a woman he liked, but bringing Xiang Yu was unexpected. Even though they weren’t alone, it felt as if Han Xin was courting Xiang Yu. Han Zhan resolved to ask him about it later; Han Xin’s sudden change in behaviour was too significant to ignore.

The elevator doors opened to reveal a stunning rooftop terrace, the ocean stretching out in a breath-taking panorama. The setting sun casted a golden glow over the scene, making it feel almost magical. Han Xin led them to a table near the edge, where the view was the most spectacular.

As they settled into their seats, Xiang Yu couldn’t help but steal glances at Han Xin. The way Han Xin had held his hand earlier, the subtle touches, and now this, everything felt like a carefully orchestrated plan.
