Yunah’s POV
The hug my brother gives me feels different.
It’s the hug of a liar.
I know he has lied to me all my life but now it feels...hurtful.
"Let me tend to your wound" I say softly as I pull away from the hug, trying my best to hold back the tears that threaten to fall, I don’t want him to see them and lie more to me.
"Yunah-yah" he calls and I look at him a smile plastered to my face, "don’t cry" he says and hold my chin, his thumb rubbing my cheekbone in circles.
"Oppa is just fine" he says with a smile that is too perfect, too unreal for me, the smile for father’s client.
I drop my eyes from his eyes to his torn cloth.
Jaehyun oppa.
My brother too far gone in this bubble of pain to realize the tattered state of his cloth.
"Take it off" I say and gesture to the cloth and he does, moving slowly and barely winces from the pain, I can hear the cracks of his joints, and he can barely feel it.
I open the box and silently sort through the tools Jaehyun oppa showed me.
Yujun oppa doesn’t say a word or even flinch as I tend to him as best as I can, only following the steps taught to me minutes ago.
He doesn’t even realize when I finish, he remains as still a statue, the only thing moving is his chest and his hair with the wind.
I blink away the tears again but too late, a single drop lands on his leg and he looks up slowly.
"Sorry" I whisper and shut the box, rushing over to his wardrobe to find a new shirt for him to sleep in.
"YuYu" he calls and I pause at the wardrobe, "Oppa, please don’t lie to me...I want you, but not like this" I say with my back turned to him.
I turn slowly to look at him.
He looks broken in a million pieces, he looks damaged and under the silver light of the full moon, he is ghostly beautiful.
Like an angel of death.
What did we ever do to deserve this?
What can I do to bring us out?
Smiling is hard right, hope is there but its struggling to shine with how dark my brother’s eyes look.
"I’m right here, Yuyu" he says and I walk over to him to give him a kiss on his cheek.
"I love you so much, Oppa" I say and I hear his breath stutter.
Briefly in his eyes, a flicker of light shines but dies as soon as it does.
He will be back.
My Oppa will be back to me in no time, I just know it.
I kiss his other cheek.
"I love you, Oppa, you are my entire world" I say, meaning it with my heart and he doesn’t respond, he only lifts his head to look at me.
"I’m right here" he says again.
"I know, I know" I say and give him a smile, a real one of heartbreak.
"Goodnight" I say and leave the room without waiting for him to say anything.
I walk down the bright hall without bursting into tears like I really want to do, instead I hold it till I get to room and open the door.
Immediately I am engulfed in a warm bear hug.
"It hurts" I say as I break into the tears that have been choking me up.
"We will figure it out, I promise" Jaehyun oppa says as he rubs my back, I let him console me as I sob till his phone rings and he curses.
"You curse a lot" I say wetly and he chuckles softly before patting my head, "I will try to do that less" he says with a soft smile.
We are both hurting over the one love of our lives and can only lean into each other in this time.
The phone rings again and he looks at me guiltily.
"I will be fine oppa" I say to him and wipe my tear with the back of my hand.
"Don’t forget to check him again and clean the injuries" he says and I nod, "I won’t" I say and he sighs.
"Oppa, if anything happens, I will call you" I say and he gives me a nod before going to the window, the way he had done when he came out of my brother’s.
With Jaehyun oppa gone, I lay on my bed and pull my blanket up to go to sleep when I feel the pain that keeps me up on most nights.
My eyes fly open as I lay on my back and bite down on my lips with tears filling my eyes.
A pain I haven’t told anyone about, it doesn’t matter as much as what my brother is going through right now.
It’s my mating bite, it burns and hurts so bad, and I just know she’s at it again.
She is with someone else.
My mate, the one I have given my love to without reserve; Yoon Sehwa.
She has been torturing me this way every day since the engagement announcement.
Since it got exposed that she deceived me and used me like a pawn in her sick and twisted game.
I am tempted to go to my brother and say, "oppa you were right, that love is not real", but then...Jaehyun oppa loves my brother to death.
If not he wouldn’t risk his high status, his reputation or his life for my brother.
Just because love didn’t work out for me doesn’t make it less real...I chose to believe.
I get out of the bed and put on a jacket over my nightdress.
When it hurts this bad, a walk under the clouds, a soft song and the cool breeze never fails to help.
"Yesol unnie" I call my personal maid at the bottom of the stairs, "yes" she responds immediately, "I am going for a walk" I say softly and she rushes to pick her footwear.
"Your eyes are swollen lady, are you okay?" she asks as we walk out of the mansion gates, I put my hands in my jacket pockets.
"I want ice-cream" I say and she smiles, "aigoo, you never change, stay here and I will get it" she says and pat my cheeks before rushing over to the convenience store.
I stand on the other side of the road with the soft breeze messing up my hair.
"Woah, as expected of the Choi clan’s beauty, even with bare face, you still look stunning" Sehwa unnie’s uniquely charming voice says and I turn around immediately.
"Unnie..." I say and step backwards in fear.
She terrifies me.
Even with that disarming smile on her face...she scares me to death.
"Yesol unnie!" I shout for my maid who looks up from inside the convenience store, the glass dividing us makes her clueless of the danger I’m in as she smiles and waves at me.
"Yesol Unnie" I call again and Sehwa’s smile drops as she walks closer to me, slow and predatory.
"Yunah-ah, playing with you was fun, say bye bye everyone" she says and suddenly everything goes black as strong hands from behind covers my nose.
