Yujun’s POV

Holding Gawon close to me, we both walk out of the room.

Chan doesn’t come after us, I keep looking back to see what he would do, he is still standing by the door with his arms folded.

The level of calm he possesses scares me.

It makes me worried how easily he is watching us leave: make sure you never hear my voice.

"Yujun-ssi" Gawon whispers as we approach the gate.

"Hmm?" I ask her.

"Don’t you have anything you would want to take?" she asks and I look back at the looming building.

It’s big, beautiful, well built but a waste to me. It’s full of expensive things and people who have been brainwashed, but it’s empty to me.

"I have none" I say and she nods her head.

"What about you? Do you have anything you want to take?" I asks her.

"No, I have nothing here, I don’t want anything to do with this place ever again" she says and I loop our arms.

Together we walk out of the gate into a new world, into a new life, I feel a sense of satisfaction for bringing her out with me.

No one deserves to live in that place, it’s not hell, it’s something worse. Hell disguised as heaven, angels with demon bloods and a deranged god.

"Do you think they’ll come after us?" I ask her and she looks over her shoulder.

"They won’t, Chan is proud and has drilled his list for authority into them, they don’t breathe unless he commands it" Gawon says.

We don’t have money, all I have is the phone he gave me, a phone that was given to keep me tied.

"Shit, we’ll have to walk for a bit" I say to Gawon and she huffs, "I don’t mind, as long as we’re not going back to that place" she says.

We keep walking and keeping watch, just in case Chan changes his mind and sends his minions after us.

A taxi drives by, kicking dust into the air.

"We’ll get a taxi, explain to them and pay when we arrive at our destination" I conclude.

"Not many drivers will agree" Gawon says logically, "we’ll figure it out" I say.

Once we are at a good distance away from the Kang mansion, I look at the girl beside me.

Gawon’s face is set like a girl that knows what she’s doing and isn’t deterred by pain and suffering.

Her hair is thick, curly and hanging down to her waist.

"How did you end up with the Kangs?" I ask her and she looks at me before looking forward at the road.

"We thought we had a pack, a family...something to look forward to" she says vaguely and I frown.

"We? You have other people still stuck there?" I ask, stopping in my track in case we have to go back.

I will die trying to save people from that man.

"My Unnie and I" she says and keeps walking.

When she realizes I am no longer moving, she turns around slightly to look at me, the look in her eyes is devasting.

"Let’s go, there’s no one to save. It’s already too late" she says and I frown but move anyways.

Too late? I believe it can never be too late to go back and save anyone who needs to be saved.

"Gawon..."

"It’s too late because she’s dead" she says and clench her fist.

She doesn’t stop walking but I hear the soft sniffles, she’s crying silently and it hurts in a way I can’t explain.

"I’m sorry" I say softly, walking beside her and her lips curl into a small smile as she wipes her cheek.

"I’m just glad she didn’t die clueless" she says, "she died trying to set herself free from that man".

"What’s your sister’s name?" I ask her softly, wanting to be part of the people who will carry the memory in my heart, even if I never met her.

"Cho Yujin" she says and I blink, "what?"

"She was Chan’s girlfriend...that was why I dared to tell you everything I did..I saw what that bastard was doing" she says with bitterness.

"I couldn’t let anyone else experience it, the pain, the manipulation...Yujin lost their baby and he..." she stops speaking as she looks at me.

"Yujun-ssi..." she calls my name softly.

"What is it...?" I ask her, ignoring the way everything around me seems to double, triple and then return to one.

"You’re bleeding" she says and I draw in a sharp breath and pain forces me to the floor.

It feels like a key has opened a locked up memory and it’s flooding my mind, hitting me like an hurricane.

I lift my hand to my nose, and sure enough, there’s thick sticky liquid leaking out and I gasp.

"Your body must be fighting against the alpha voice" I hear Gawon’s voic, it sounds like it’s coming from above me.

Like I’m underwater, like she’s speaking to me and moving me around like a rag doll.

"Arghh" a shout rips out of my throat from the pain in my head, it hurts too much, I can’t breath properly.

’Fight! We’ll fight!" My omega says inside me and howl loudly.

A full day’s memory returns to me; Me and Chan in the hospital, Chan telling me about Cho Yujin...she found out about his identity, she got scared.

Chan boldly saying that she broke him by her reaction, and Chan saying he broke her.

"Taxi! Please help us" I hear Gawon saying as she hold me.

Trying to save me the way she wasn’t able to save her own sister, Cho Yujin.

"Gawon..." I say her name, I want to tell her she doesn’t have to worry anymore...I will take her to a place where she can be happy and loved.

"Yujun-ssi, what’s the address? Can you hear me?" Gawon asks as she shakes my body, it feels like I am not in my body.

"Hwangyeon" I manage to say before everything goes black and the pain swallows me up.
