Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Resolving the Knot

The text message was clear: "Be careful of Black Scorpion. Their target is Fan Bingbing, and they’ll make their move at the stadium." That was the content of the message, and it forced Lin Kuang to be on high alert.

Black Scorpion again? Or was their real target Fan Bingbing all along, and I was just collateral damage? Lin Kuang considered this. No matter the answer, he had to be cautious.

Fine. Since you’ve come, you can all just stay here for good, Lin Kuang thought, a contemplative look in his eyes.

After a moment, Lin Kuang stood up and walked out of the dressing room, where two men responsible for protecting Fan Bingbing were standing guard. They remained silent as he emerged. After a quick glance to ensure they were alone, Lin Kuang asked in a low voice, "Are you two the only ones who came?"

The two men paused at his words. One of them spoke up, making no attempt to hide the truth. "No, sir. Eight others will be blending into the crowd to protect the young lady’s safety."

Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded. "Good. Be careful. I received intel that someone is going to make a move against Bingbing today." He kept his voice low, not wanting Fan Bingbing to overhear and get worried.

At his words, both men’s expressions hardened, and a murderous glint flashed in their eyes.

"Who is targeting the young lady? And how would you know?" the man who had spoken before asked again.

"I have my channels. The ones coming after Bingbing are from Black Scorpion. You should have heard of them," Lin Kuang said nonchalantly.

Hearing this, the men’s expressions changed once more. They had been sent by the family precisely because of Black Scorpion.

"Is this information reliable?" the man asked, lowering his voice even further.

"Of course. Do I have any reason to lie to you about something like this?" Lin Kuang replied.

Hearing this, the two men nodded. "Alright, we know what to do. We’ll leave the young lady in your care for now." They weren’t ordinary men and could sense the formidable threat emanating from Lin Kuang; he was clearly no average person. That was why they spoke to him with such deference.

"Right. As long as I’m here, nothing will happen to Bingbing. You two be careful as well," Lin Kuang said. He then turned and went back into the dressing room.

The two men immediately began making phone calls, obviously getting their preparations in order.

"Zhao You, when are the fans being let in?" Lin Kuang asked, seeing Zhao You sitting and resting nearby.

Zhao You was startled, seemingly surprised that Lin Kuang was talking to him. But seeing his somewhat serious expression, he quickly replied, "Seven o’clock. Why do you ask?"

At that moment, Zhao You’s tone wasn’t overly effeminate, which was still within Lin Kuang’s range of tolerance.

"Just something I needed to know. Go back to what you were doing," Lin Kuang said indifferently.

Hearing this, Zhao You rolled his eyes but said nothing more. He was still quite scared of him.

Seven o’clock? No need to rush then, Lin Kuang thought quietly.

At ten in the morning, Fan Bingbing finished her makeup. She changed into a long, purple gown and walked over to Lin Kuang. She gave a little twirl in front of him and asked with a smile, "Am I pretty?"

"Yes, very pretty. Like a noble queen," Lin Kuang said with a smile, looking her over.

"Really?" Fan Bingbing asked, her eyes squinting slightly in a grin.

"Of course. Why would I lie to you?" Lin Kuang replied with a smile.

"Alright, I’m heading to rehearsal. You can wait for me here, or you can come and listen to me sing," Fan Bingbing said, smiling.

"Alright, I’ll go and listen," Lin Kuang responded with a smile.

Hearing his answer, the smile on Fan Bingbing’s face grew wider, as if she was very pleased with his response. Fan Bingbing turned and left, and Lin Kuang followed. He found a suitable spot in the vast stadium and sat down quietly.

Onstage, Fan Bingbing had already begun to sing. From start to finish, her eyes never left Lin Kuang, and her voice seemed to carry a hidden message meant just for him.

Even someone as dense as Lin Kuang was beginning to understand. Fan Bingbing was starting to fall for him, despite the short time they had known each other. Then again, feelings aren’t determined by the amount of time you spend with someone.

The rehearsal lasted until the afternoon, after which Fan Bingbing and her team finally had a chance to eat. They only had boxed lunches, and Fan Bingbing ate very little, knowing she had to sing that evening and couldn’t have a full stomach.

After the meal, they finally had a rare moment to rest. They were alone in the rest area, as Fan Bingbing had sent everyone else away.

"Lin Kuang, did you like my singing?" Fan Bingbing asked with a smile as she looked at him.

"Yes, it was wonderful. I’m really looking forward to the concert," Lin Kuang said earnestly. He wasn’t just being polite—he truly thought her singing was beautiful.

"That’s good to hear. It’s just... after this concert is over, I’ll be leaving the stage for good." Fan Bingbing spoke again, her voice filled with reluctance. She didn’t want to leave the stage she loved, but sometimes, your life isn’t your own to control.

"Is it because of the Business Alliance?" Detecting the helplessness in her voice, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask.

Fan Bingbing paused but didn’t try to hide it. "Well, yes and no," she admitted. "I’m one of the heirs to my family, and there are certain duties I must fulfill." Her words were laced with that same helplessness.

"Well, in that case, you should give it your all," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "If you want true freedom, you have to break free from the people who bind you. Or, you have to reach a height that surpasses them. Only then can you do what you truly want to do."

At these words, Fan Bingbing’s delicate frame shuddered, and she nodded emphatically. "Thank you, Lin Kuang. You’re right," she said earnestly. She had always harbored a rebellious attitude toward her family’s affairs. Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, she finally realized just how willful she had been.

"You’re welcome," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

As he spoke, he took the initiative and pulled Fan Bingbing into his embrace, his hand easily circling her slender waist.

Fan Bingbing’s body trembled again. The next moment, she leaned her head against his shoulder. Her trembling hands wrapped around his waist, and a look of blissful enjoyment appeared on her flushed face.

"Bingbing," Lin Kuang called out softly.

"Hmm?" Hearing him, Fan Bingbing instinctively looked up, her beautiful eyes meeting his.

Just then, Lin Kuang lowered his head. He held her by the shoulders as his lips drew near to hers.

At this, Fan Bingbing’s pretty face flushed a deep crimson, and even her delicate earlobes turned red. A moment later, she closed her beautiful eyes.
