Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 82: Astonishing Information
Hearing Lin Kuang’s praise once again, Fan Bingbing’s smile grew even wider, and she felt truly happy. Just as she was about to say something, Zhao You walked in.
"Bingbing, we need to go to the stadium for rehearsal now."
At the sound of Zhao You’s effeminate voice, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but shudder slightly, his expression turning sour.
Seeing Lin Kuang’s expression, Fan Bingbing let out a light laugh. "You, go ahead and get ready. Lin Kuang and I will be right there," she said with a smile.
"Okay, but be quick," Zhao You said again, his voice carrying a whiny, complaining tone that was quite uncomfortable to hear. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
After he left, Lin Kuang let out a quiet sigh of relief. That sissy, he thought.
"Oh, come on, You is just like that," Fan Bingbing said with a chuckle, looking at Lin Kuang’s displeased face.
Lin Kuang rolled his eyes. "I know, but it’s a bit much for me."
"Alright, let’s sit for a moment. We should get going soon," Fan Bingbing said with a smile.
Lin Kuang nodded and sat down naturally beside her. As he inhaled her faint, sweet fragrance, he couldn’t help but recall the last time they had sat together here that night. At the same time, a blush crept onto Fan Bingbing’s pretty face, as if she, too, was remembering the events of that night.
"Bingbing," Lin Kuang’s voice suddenly broke the silence while she was lost in thought.
"Huh?" she exclaimed in surprise.
"Don’t we have an unfinished kiss?" As he spoke, Lin Kuang’s deep, vast eyes gazed quietly into Fan Bingbing’s, a faint, elusive smile playing on his lips.
Hearing his words, Fan Bingbing’s face turned an even deeper shade of red, and she lowered her head completely. His directness made her extremely shy, yet for some reason, she also felt a tiny flicker of anticipation.
Lin Kuang said no more, seeming to wait for her reply. After a long moment, she finally spoke. "N-not right now. You might come back in." Her voice was a mere whisper, as soft as the buzz of a fly; if Lin Kuang didn’t have such excellent hearing, he would have missed it completely.
A smile spread across Lin Kuang’s face. "Then we’ll continue some other time."
"Mhm," Fan Bingbing replied softly, her shyness reaching its peak.
Lin Kuang said no more, simply reaching out and taking her palm. It was slightly damp with nervous sweat. When she felt his hand—not large, but reassuringly solid—envelop her own, Fan Bingbing grew even shier. Still, she didn’t struggle, letting him hold it.
The atmosphere in the room grew a little peculiar. Lin Kuang remained composed, while Fan Bingbing sat with her head bowed and face flushed, creating a rather interesting scene.
After what felt like a long time, Zhao You reentered the room. Seeing them holding hands, an almost imperceptible flicker of resignation crossed his eyes.
"Bingbing, the car is ready. We can go now," Zhao You’s effeminate voice rang out again. It sounded slightly more normal this time, and Lin Kuang didn’t have any adverse reaction.
"Yes, let’s go," Fan Bingbing said, standing up. She didn’t withdraw her hand, allowing Lin Kuang to continue holding it as he stood up as well. They followed behind Zhao You, shoulder to shoulder.
"Bingbing, there’s a crowd of reporters waiting outside. Won’t leaving like this cause unnecessary trouble for you?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, looking at her flushed face.
"It’s... it’s okay," she said, her face still red.
In truth, them leaving together like this would indeed cause a lot of unnecessary trouble for her. In fact, that trouble had already begun, though neither of them was yet aware of it.
"You’re lying. It will definitely cause trouble. I’ll just stand beside you," he said, voluntarily letting go of her hand.
Hearing this, Fan Bingbing felt a sense of relief, yet also a pang of reluctance. Her feelings were complicated. As a member of the Business Alliance, she knew very well what her future entailed. Even her marriage was not hers to control. For her, being with someone she liked was an extremely difficult, if not impossible, thing.
As she was thinking this, they arrived at the door. Dozens of reporters were waiting outside. The moment they saw Fan Bingbing, they swarmed forward like hungry wolves. The security guards, already prepared for this, did their best to hold the reporters back. The two men who had been standing guard at her door quickly escorted Fan Bingbing and Zhao You through a cleared path in the crowd and into the waiting Rolls-Royce Phantom. As for Lin Kuang, he slipped through the chaos effortlessly. How could a crowd like this possibly stop him?
Once they were settled in the car, Lin Kuang glanced at Fan Bingbing. "Dealing with this every day must be tiring, right?"
Fan Bingbing was stunned for a moment, apparently not expecting him to ask such a question. "It’s alright. You get used to it," she said with a smile.
This was the path she had chosen, so what good would complaining about the fatigue do? Besides, this concert in East Sea would be her last. She would be saying goodbye to the entertainment industry afterward. She wasn’t getting any younger and needed to start handling her family’s affairs. After all, as one of the heirs to the Fan family, she didn’t have much time left to be willful.
Hearing her words, Lin Kuang said nothing more and simply sat there in silence.
About half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of the East Sea Stadium. Hundreds of people were gathered there—some were reporters, but most were fans. Lin Kuang was a little surprised by the impressive sight.
"Alright, let’s go. You have to protect me, okay?" Fan Bingbing said with a playful smile, glancing at Lin Kuang.
Lin Kuang nodded. "Of course."
With that, they all got out of the car. Lin Kuang stayed close to Fan Bingbing’s side as security guards cleared a path. She occasionally waved and greeted her enthusiastic fans. After finally making their way through the crowd, they went directly into the stadium and headed for the dressing room.
"Phew, I can finally breathe," Fan Bingbing said with a smile, sinking into a chair. She glanced at Lin Kuang. "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine, don’t worry," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.
Fan Bingbing then began her makeup preparations, getting busy while Lin Kuang sat quietly to the side.
After some time, Lin Kuang’s phone vibrated. He pulled it out to see a text message from Zhang Lianmei. His heart stirred as he quickly opened it. After reading the message, his expression changed completely.
