Chapter 55: Chapter 55 A Message

The little Witch didn’t say anything. In truth, she was only there to watch the show. However, she hadn’t expected Lin Kuang to be so ruthless. That had definitely exceeded her expectations. At the same time, Lin Kuang’s image grew tremendously in her eyes, though she was extremely reluctant to admit it.

By the time Lin Kuang drove the little Witch back to her school and returned to the Yashi Lingerie Company, it was nearly four in the afternoon.

Returning to Liu Shilin’s office, he found her rushing over to him, her beautiful eyes filled with gratitude.

"Lin Kuang, thank you. Thank you so much," she said. Her words were simple, but they carried the most sincere gratitude from the bottom of her heart. The little Witch had called Liu Shilin to report she was safe as soon as Lin Kuang dropped her off, not wanting her older sister to worry. That was how Liu Shilin knew she had been rescued.

Lin Kuang offered a small smile. "Shilin, there’s no need to be so formal. I’m your bodyguard; it’s what I’m supposed to do."

"Still, I have to thank you," Liu Shilin insisted with a smile. "Let me treat you to dinner tonight as a token of my gratitude." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Lin Kuang didn’t put on any airs and readily agreed. "Alright, if you insist on spending the money."

Liu Shilin simply shook her head with a smile, indicating it was nothing.

They sat in the office for a short while longer until it was time to leave work. Lin Kuang and Liu Shilin then walked out of the room, side by side. Seeing them from behind, one might have mistaken them for a couple.

After leaving the company, Liu Shilin called the little Witch. The three of them didn’t go to any fancy hotels, opting instead for a restaurant in East Sea known for its local specialties. Lin Kuang had never been picky about food; as long as it filled his stomach, it was good enough for him.

They found a small private room, ordered four dishes, and quietly waited.

The little Witch glared at Lin Kuang, seemingly still fuming over what happened the previous night. In any case, the girl was thoroughly displeased with him. Lin Kuang paid her no mind, viewing her as nothing more than a child. When she saw Lin Kuang ignoring her, the little Witch grew even angrier and began to huff in frustration.

Sitting beside her, Liu Shilin sighed helplessly. "Shiyu, what are you doing? Lin Kuang saved you today. Not only are you not thanking him, but you’re also glaring at him like that. That’s going too far." As she spoke, her expression turned serious.

"Sis, you have no idea! This guy is the worst!" the little Witch complained pitifully. However, she didn’t know how to bring up what had happened the night before; it was simply too embarrassing.

"You’re just holding a grudge against him. You can’t act like this in the future. No matter what, he’s the one who saved you," Liu Shilin said again, her tone now carrying a hint of a lecture.

Hearing this, the little Witch had no choice but to sit there obediently. However, her glare toward Lin Kuang only intensified, as if he were the one who had just scolded her. This left Lin Kuang feeling quite exasperated.

At that moment, the waiter brought their food.

"Go ahead and eat, Lin Kuang. Have whatever you like. Don’t be shy," Liu Shilin said with a smile as the dishes arrived.

"Okay, Shilin. You eat too. I won’t be shy," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.

True to his word, he wasn’t shy at all. He ate whatever he pleased, and his table manners were a bit wild, but he made no effort to hide it in front of the two beautiful women. A smile touched the corners of Liu Shilin’s lips, as if she found his hearty appetite charming. The little Witch, however, glared daggers at him, thoroughly unimpressed with his boorish table manners.

Lin Kuang just kept eating, paying no attention to the two women’s gazes. His only priority was to fill his stomach.

Like a whirlwind sweeping away scattered clouds, Lin Kuang devoured two large bowls of rice and single-handedly finished half of the four dishes.

Liu Shilin and the little Witch were nearly done as well, though the younger sister was visibly upset that Lin Kuang had polished off some of the best dishes before she’d had her fill.

"Take your time, there’s no rush," Lin Kuang said with a smile after wiping his mouth.

A closer look would reveal that while his table manners were somewhat unrefined, he hadn’t left a single grain of rice in his bowl.

"Like we need you to tell us that? We weren’t in a rush to begin with," the little Witch retorted irritably.

Lin Kuang merely shrugged, ignoring her bad temper. Liu Shilin, on the other hand, just smiled faintly without saying a word.

"Sis, why are you always taking that scumbag’s side?" the little Witch complained with a sense of injustice when she saw her sister’s silent smile.

"Because he hasn’t done anything wrong. Now, hurry up and eat," Liu Shilin said, still smiling.

"Hmph! He’s a total jerk!" the little Witch huffed.

Just then, Lin Kuang’s phone chimed. He pulled it out and saw a text message from Zhang Lianmei.

"Be careful. Liu Tiecheng is going to make a move on you. He knows you’re at the Little Fisherman Village and has already sent people."

The message was short but direct. The Little Fisherman Village was, of course, the name of the restaurant they were in.

Upon reading the text, Lin Kuang’s expression remained calm, and a faint smile even touched his lips.

Liu Tiecheng wants to kill me? Has he figured something out? Or is this about that dead Scarface? Whatever. If they want to come after me, they’d better be prepared to die. Some people will never give up unless you teach them a painful lesson.

"Sis, look! Look at his disgusting smile! He must be up to no good, or maybe he’s cheating on you with another woman!" the little Witch exclaimed, irritated by the sight of his smirk.

If Lin Kuang knew what she was thinking, he would have been utterly exasperated. He thought his smile was perfectly innocent!

Hearing her sister’s wild accusations, Liu Shilin’s pretty face couldn’t help but blush, and she shot the little Witch a fierce glare. "You silly girl, stop spouting nonsense!" she chided, her face flushed red. The way her sister phrased it made it sound as if there were something actually going on between her and Lin Kuang.

The little Witch paused for a moment, then playfully stuck out her tongue, seeming to realize she had misspoken.

"I was just kidding," she muttered under her breath.

"Waiter, the check, please," Liu Shilin called out after they finished eating.

After paying the bill, the three of them left the Little Fisherman Village restaurant.

Once in the car, Lin Kuang asked, "Where to? Home?"

"Well... Shiyu, is there anything you need to buy? If not, we’ll head home," Liu Shilin asked, turning to her sister.

"I want to buy a house so I can kick this guy out," the little Witch grumbled.

Liu Shilin shot her sister a helpless look before turning to Lin Kuang. "Don’t get angry, Lin Kuang. Let’s just go home."
