Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Intangible Confrontation

"Stop! Mr. Chu invites Mr. Lin in!" π˜§π˜³π˜¦β„―π“Œπ˜¦π’·π˜―π‘œπ‘£π˜¦π“.π’Έπ˜°π“‚

Just as more waiters and security guards were about to rush over, a man in his thirties stepped forward and shouted. Upon hearing his words, the security guards and waiters all stopped, staring at Lin Kuang with unfriendly eyes.

Lin Kuang paid them no mind, simply looking at the burly man before him.

"Mr. Lin, please!" the man said with a slight bow, gesturing with an open palm.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang nodded and followed the man into the Xiangya Club.

After Lin Kuang went inside, a small commotion ensued as someone in the crowd recognized him. In an instant, news of his arrival spread throughout the club until almost everyone knew.

Lin Kuang followed the burly man to an office on the fourth floor. The man pushed the door open and said, "Mr. Lin, please."

Lin Kuang nodded and stepped inside.

In the office, Chu Zhongtian sat behind a desk with a smile on his face. Standing beside him was Han Qiaoqiao. When Lin Kuang entered, Chu Zhongtian’s expression remained unchanged, but Han Qiaoqiao looked distinctly displeased, her beautiful eyes filled with venomous resentment.

"Mr. Lin, welcome to the Xiangya Club," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile as Lin Kuang approached. He didn’t stand up; it was clear that in his eyes, Lin Kuang wasn’t worth the courtesy.

Lin Kuang wasn’t bothered. He smiled and replied, "I suppose I have you to thank for this, Mr. Chu. If it weren’t for you, I doubt I’d be coming here a second time."

With that, Lin Kuang looked at Chu Zhongtian with a grin.

Hearing this, Chu Zhongtian’s expression shifted slightly before he broke into a laugh. "Mr. Lin, you certainly know how to joke. Please, have a seat. Qiaoqiao, pour Mr. Lin a glass of water."

Although Han Qiaoqiao was reluctant, she didn’t dare defy Chu Zhongtian. Meanwhile, Lin Kuang coolly took a seat on the sofa.

Han Qiaoqiao brought the water over and slammed it down in front of Lin Kuang, her displeasure obvious.

"Mr. Chu, this woman of yours is quite disappointing. She has no manners when it comes to treating guests," Lin Kuang said with a smirk, draining the glass of water.

"I apologize, Mr. Lin," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile. "Qiaoqiao is feeling a bit unwell. Please don’t take it to heart."

"It’s fine. I’m not one to squabble with a woman," Lin Kuang said with a grin.

Hearing this, Chu Zhongtian was taken aback. If you’re not one to squabble with women, why did you even bring it up?

"Mr. Lin, may I ask what brings you to see me today?" Chu Zhongtian asked, feigning curiosity as he toyed with a pen on his desk.

"Mr. Chu, you’re quite talented at putting on an act. Your performance is good enough to win a Best Actor award," Lin Kuang remarked with a derisive smile, looking at Chu Zhongtian’s feigned curiosity.

"Oh? What do you mean by that, Mr. Lin? Please speak plainly, because I truly don’t understand," Chu Zhongtian responded, his brilliant smile never wavering, as if he hadn’t detected the sarcasm in Lin Kuang’s tone at all.

At this, Lin Kuang smiled faintly. "Since you don’t know, Mr. Chu, I’ll get straight to the point. You had the Quality Supervision Bureau frame Yashi. Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?"

As he spoke, his deep eyes bored into Chu Zhongtian.

Chu Zhongtian’s heart skipped a beat. He had guessed Lin Kuang was here for this matter, but hearing him say it aloud still sent a jolt of shock through him. Despite the inner turmoil, his face betrayed nothing. He simply maintained his gentle smile.

"Mr. Lin, one shouldn’t speak so carelessly," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile. "Besides, I hold an official position. Slandering me like this is a serious crime, you know."

"Is that so? Then how do you explain this?" As he spoke, Lin Kuang took out his phone and played the recording of Guo An’s confession from his earlier interrogation.

As Guo An’s voice recounted all the facts from the phone, Chu Zhongtian’s expression finally darkened. He had assumed Lin Kuang had just recklessly come to ask questions. He never expected that in less than a day, Lin Kuang would have already uncovered the entire truth.

At this thought, Chu Zhongtian felt rattled. His estimation of Lin Kuang rose a few notches.

"Mr. Lin, you’ve completely misunderstood. I have nothing to do with this," Chu Zhongtian said, his voice laced with feigned anger. "Guo An must be trying to drag someone down with him before he dies. The man is despicable!"

Lin Kuang watched Chu Zhongtian with a smirk. He knew the man was determined to deny everything, no matter whatβ€”something he had anticipated before even arriving.

After all, this was Chu Zhongtian, a prominent figure from Yanjing sent to East Sea to burnish his credentials. As long as such a person denied everything, nobody could touch him. Even if he got into trouble, the powers behind him wouldn’t just stand by and watch. Besides, this was such a minor issue; trying to take him down with it was simply unrealistic.

"I see. In that case, Mr. Chu, what do you think should be done about the Yashi affair?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.

"Since you have evidence, Mr. Lin, I will certainly handle the Quality Supervision Bureau. Those who do wrong must be punished, and those who are wronged must have their names cleared. Please rest assured, Mr. Lin. I will hold a press conference tomorrow to clarify the injustice Yashi has suffered," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile, adopting an air of magnanimous justice.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang nodded with a smile. "Just as expected of you, Mr. Chu. In that case, I’ll take my leave. I look forward to you restoring justice for Yashi." As he finished speaking, he stood up.

"Of course. It’s what we should do. I have some other matters to attend to, so I won’t see you out, Mr. Lin. Cheng Fu, please show him out." With that, Chu Zhongtian glanced at the burly man in the corner, the same one who had led Lin Kuang in.

"Yes, Mr. Chu!" Cheng Fu acknowledged, then turned to Lin Kuang. "Mr. Lin, this way, please."

Lin Kuang nodded and followed Cheng Fu out of the office.

After Lin Kuang left, Chu Zhongtian’s expression turned grave. Beside him, Han Qiaoqiao’s eyes burned with intense resentment and indignation.

"Mr. Chu, you’re just letting him go like that?" she asked resentfully.

"There’s no choice but to let him go for now. This guy is more formidable than I imagined," Chu Zhongtian chuckled, a cold light flickering in his eyes. "Tsk tsk. I was just getting bored. Now that such an interesting opponent has appeared, I can take my time and play."

He didn’t want Lin Kuang to die so quickly; that would spoil all the fun. More importantly, Chu Zhongtian didn’t know Lin Kuang’s true background and was wary of what this man was truly capable of. Chu Zhongtian was not a reckless man. On the contrary, he was very careful and cautious. He would not make a move without absolute certainty.
