Chapter 363: Chapter 363: Old Mrs. Fairchild Pays a Visit

Seraphina Sinclair felt a bit embarrassed as she quietly explained, "I was with a client yesterday, so I had a few drinks. I didn’t expect the alcohol to hit so hard afterwards..."

"So that’s why you drank this much? Godmother, I’m telling you, if you care about your health, you can’t keep doing this," Camille White said, sighing as she couldn’t help but complain about Desmond Fairchild a few times, "Wasn’t David Wade with you? Why wasn’t he watching out for you?"

Seraphina secretly thought to herself that it really wasn’t Desmond’s fault yesterday. He was actually helping her avoid drinking, but she insisted on drinking with Alex, so she couldn’t blame Desmond.

"Here’s some sobering soup, please have it," Camille White said helplessly, signaling Chloe Irving to bring the soup to Seraphina Sinclair.

Seraphina took the soup and glanced around, furrowing her brows, "Where’s Desmond? Why isn’t he here?"

"President Fairchild went to the office early in the morning, he asked you to rest well at home. He’ll help deal with Kevin’s matters."

As soon as Camille finished explaining, Seraphina muttered softly, "He really manages to keep everything on track; doesn’t he ever get tired?"

"What did you say, Godmother?" Camille couldn’t hear what Seraphina was saying, so she asked.

Seraphina quickly shook her head, "Nothing, what time is it now? Is it lunchtime?"

Chloe Irving smiled and said, "Madam, your guess is spot on, lunch is ready, please move to the dining room."

"Really?" Seraphina’s red lips curled into a smile, she hadn’t eaten all night and felt a bit hungry; she wondered what delicious dishes Chloe had made today.

After freshening up and changing clothes, Seraphina went to the dining room, her eyes opened slightly in surprise, and she froze on the spot.

There sat Old Mrs. Fairchild in a traditional outfit at the head seat, smiling warmly at Seraphina.

"Grandma, why are you here?" Seeing Old Mrs. Fairchild, Seraphina suddenly felt a bit ashamed.

Back when she broke up with Desmond and even after making up, she hadn’t taken the time to visit the old lady; that indeed was her fault.

"Why wouldn’t I come see you if you won’t visit this old lady?" Old Mrs. Fairchild continued to smile kindly and beckoned Seraphina, "Come over here, let Grandma take a good look at you."

Seraphina quickly walked over and stood in front of Old Mrs. Fairchild, "Grandma, it was my fault not visiting you, please don’t hold it against me."

"Look at what you’re saying, what kind of words are these? Am I that petty?" Old Mrs. Fairchild gave her a playful glare and reached to hold Seraphina’s delicate hand.

Looking at Seraphina’s hand, so slender, she couldn’t help but feel worried, "Oh dear, it’s only been a while, how did you get so thin? Are you engrossed in work again, without eating well or resting?"

Seraphina hurriedly shook her head, "No, Grandma, I’m doing well."

"You, just like Desmond, when you work, you don’t care about your lives. Does Grandma not know that?" said Old Mrs. Fairchild, holding Seraphina’s hand lovingly, "Child, why don’t you come live with me? At least there’ll be someone to take care of you."

Seraphina didn’t expect Old Mrs. Fairchild to suggest such a thing; she thought she would scold her.

But moving into the old Fairchild residence was something Seraphina had never considered, as she cherished her freedom and disliked constraints.

As long as Desmond and Jude were around here, even if she didn’t live luxuriously, she’d be happy.

Just as she was about to refuse Old Mrs. Fairchild, she heard her lament, "Ever since Desmond got together with you, you both are so busy with work that this old lady is left home alone, without even someone to chat with..."

Old Mrs. Fairchild let out a deep sigh, a look of worry etched on her wrinkled face.

Seraphina quickly sat beside her, anxiously asking, "Grandma, did something happen?"

This was something Old Mrs. Fairchild had never spoken about before; she always felt that grandchildren have their own blessings and never asked Desmond and Seraphina to live at home or complained.

On the contrary, when Seraphina previously suggested visiting often, not only did Old Mrs. Fairchild decline, but she also urged Seraphina and Desmond not to disturb her peace.

What was going on today? Could it really be that living alone for too long had made her lonely, so she came here to express her feelings?

"There’s nothing wrong, I just miss you all. Now, I’m old, my legs and feet aren’t nimble anymore, can’t move around much, so I want you three to move back home," said Old Mrs. Fairchild, patting Seraphina’s hand, her eyes ever more clouded.

Seraphina furrowed her brows, feeling something wasn’t quite right, but couldn’t pinpoint it.

Old Mrs. Fairchild had always been healthy; although in her seventies, she rarely fell ill.

Her sudden remarks made Seraphina feel uneasy.

"Grandma, it’s not that we can’t move back, but the old residence is quite peaceful and a bit far from downtown. It might be inconvenient for me and Desmond to commute to work, and Jude to school. How about you move here to live with us at Azure Cloud Shores?"

Seraphina looked at Old Mrs. Fairchild affectionately, thinking it would be better if she stayed here with them.

"Move here to live with you?" Old Mrs. Fairchild looked around, seemingly dissatisfied with the Azure Cloud Shores environment.

Azure Cloud Shores is in the city center, though the finest villa district in the wealthy area, it’s slightly noisier compared to the serene Fairchild residence.

Seraphina knew that the old Fairchild residence was a great place to retreat and cultivate oneself, having lived there for decades, Old Mrs. Fairchild naturally wouldn’t want to leave.

"Never mind, I was just saying. I won’t trouble you," Old Mrs. Fairchild realized Seraphina was being thoughtful, and refrained from saying more.

Seraphina didn’t know what Old Mrs. Fairchild was really thinking; she assumed the old lady feared loneliness. Since she hadn’t mentioned it again, Seraphina felt it wasn’t right to continue the topic.

After dinner, Old Mrs. Fairchild insisted on returning to the old residence, refusing to stay at Azure Cloud Shores.

Seraphina had no choice but to escort her home with Desmond.

Sitting in the living room of the old Fairchild residence, Seraphina looked solemn.

While helping Old Mrs. Fairchild to her room, she had noticed a bottle of medicine on the bedside table. Just as she was about to take a closer look, the old lady discreetly pushed it into the drawer.

"Young Master, Young Mistress, let me show you out," said a servant after tending to Old Mrs. Fairchild, standing respectfully before Seraphina and Desmond with their coats.

"Aunt Clara, we aren’t leaving tonight. Please prepare a room for Desmond and me," Seraphina tugged on Desmond’s hand, her gaze subtly hinting.

Aunt Clara hesitated for two seconds, then heard Desmond say, "Aunt Clara, please go ahead."
