Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 364: Grandma Is Acting Strange
After Aunt Clara tidied up the room, Seraphina Sinclair immediately pulled Desmond Fairchild into the room and closed the door.
"Do you feel like something’s off?" Seraphina Sinclair said with a furrowed brow, her expression grim.
"Indeed, I haven’t seen Grandma for a while, and she does seem different from before." Desmond Fairchild also noticed the issue at hand. He patted Seraphina Sinclair’s shoulder, signaling her not to worry, "I’ll have someone investigate, don’t think too much about it."
Seraphina Sinclair shook her head, feeling anxious despite herself: "I just saw a bottle of medicine on Grandma’s bedside; she put it away quickly, and I only caught a few words. Have a doctor friend of yours check what this medicine is."
"What words did you see?" Desmond Fairchild’s eyes sharpened.
"Acetylcholine something inhibitor?" Because Old Mrs. Fairchild put it away so quickly, Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t quite see it clearly, but she vaguely remembered those words.
"I’ll have someone look into it, don’t worry too much, Grandma will be fine." Desmond Fairchild immediately sent a message to Quentin Jennings to inquire, feeling a sense of foreboding.
He felt like he’d heard the name of this medicine somewhere before.
Trying to recall it now, he couldn’t remember.
Seeing the late hour, Desmond Fairchild comforted Seraphina Sinclair, "Let’s rest tonight, there will be results tomorrow."
"But..."
"Even if the sky falls, I’ll be here, no need to worry." Desmond Fairchild gently patted Seraphina Sinclair’s back in an attempt to coax her to sleep.
Seraphina Sinclair nodded slightly; with Desmond Fairchild by her side, he was her source of comfort.
The following morning.
Desmond Fairchild was called out by Quentin Jennings, while Seraphina Sinclair got up early to care for Old Mrs. Fairchild.
However, Old Mrs. Fairchild, who usually rose early, was still not up by nine in the morning.
"Aunt Clara, when does Grandma usually get up recently?" Yasmine Sinclair sat in the dining room, unable to muster any appetite.
"The old lady has mostly been waking up around noon; at the earliest, it’s about ten in the morning." Aunt Clara respectfully answered Seraphina Sinclair’s question.
Seraphina Sinclair’s brows furrowed, sensing something was amiss: "How long has this been going on?"
Aunt Clara thought for a moment and replied cautiously, "It’s been about over a month."
Seraphina Sinclair carefully observed Aunt Clara’s demeanor and expression, noting no abnormalities; could it be that Aunt Clara was unaware of Grandma’s condition?
She usually served closely by Grandma’s side, and logically, she should be aware.
Seraphina Sinclair deliberately probed: "Aunt Clara, Grandma always used to wake up early, what’s happening recently? Why is she sleeping so much?"
As people age, they usually sleep less; Old Mrs. Fairchild’s situation seemed peculiar, and she couldn’t believe Aunt Clara hadn’t noticed.
However, Aunt Clara truly seemed unaware, looking at Seraphina Sinclair with confusion: "Indeed, she used to wake up early, but lately, she does seem to sleep longer; maybe the cooler weather makes it more comfortable to sleep?"
Aunt Clara’s attitude suggested she really didn’t know, which was strange. Aunt Clara should be the closest person to Grandma lately. If even she was unaware, who else would know?
This breakfast was tasteless to Seraphina Sinclair, and she settled it quickly before going to check on Old Mrs. Fairchild in her room.
Approaching noon, as the rainy season settled in, Old Mrs. Fairchild was still asleep. Seraphina Sinclair sat at the bedside, watching her grandmother’s serene sleeping face while her gaze gradually shifted to the cabinet where the medicine was placed yesterday.
What kind of medicine was hidden inside? What did Old Mrs. Fairchild suffer from?
All this sparked Seraphina Sinclair’s curiosity.
Actually, she already began to have doubts since Old Mrs. Fairchild held a charity auction acknowledging Eric Holt.
Old Mrs. Fairchild had always supported Desmond Fairchild, and she had never mentioned acknowledging Eric Holt before.
Other than that, Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know much, but the matter involving Eric Holt was indeed suspicious.
Old Mrs. Fairchild was always upright; as the son of a mistress, Eric Holt would surely find no favor from the older-generation.
The more Seraphina Sinclair thought, the stranger it felt. This matter seemed unaddressed by Desmond Fairchild; what secrets did the Fairchild Family hold? It seemed she never truly understood Desmond Fairchild or the entirety of the Fairchild Family.
Suddenly, Seraphina Sinclair found herself bewildered, unable to find her direction forward.
In work, she always handled matters well, but in relationships and family, those seemed to be her weaknesses.
"Madam, lunch is ready." Entering deep thought, Seraphina Sinclair was interrupted by Aunt Clara who walked in. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Seraphina Sinclair’s delicate brows furrowed, looking once more at the sleeping Old Mrs. Fairchild on the bed. She shook her head slowly: "I don’t have much appetite, just take it away."
"Yes, Madam." Aunt Clara respectfully bowed slightly and went out, quietly closing the door behind her to avoid disturbing Old Mrs. Fairchild’s rest.
In the afternoon, receiving a call from Irene Rowe, Seraphina Sinclair learned that everything was ready, just awaiting her command to reveal the truth to the public.
Seraphina Sinclair’s lips curled into a cold smile: "Since Grant Group acts without conscience, don’t blame Kevin Group for acting without morality. Call a press conference immediately to restore Kevin Group’s name."
"Yes, boss, I’ll get right on it." Irene Rowe nodded slightly.
Kevin Group’s product issues were originally made out of nothing, and after days of investigation, Seraphina Sinclair finally had results. Now that it could be proven as Grant Group’s fabrication, how could they just swallow their anger?
Grant Group hopes to acquire Kevin, what a delusion.
Seraphina Sinclair put on her jacket, and before leaving she instructed Aunt Clara: "Aunt Clara, take good care of Grandma, I’ll be out for a while."
"Rest assured, Madam." Aunt Clara kept a polite smile on her face, maintaining her respect for Seraphina Sinclair.
Seraphina Sinclair rushed to Kevin Group where Irene Rowe had everything ready, waiting for Seraphina Sinclair’s arrival.
The news of the press conference had already spread, and since it was to be held suddenly, the location was chosen near Kevin Group.
Scheduled for three in the afternoon, notified media learned that Kevin Group had significant announcements and began preparations; as soon as the notice was out, a good number of reporters had arrived at the venue with their equipment.
At precisely three in the afternoon, Kevin Group’s press conference took place as anticipated.
Irene Rowe was the first to take the stage, wearing a light blue pencil skirt, her elegant tailored blazer accentuating her efficiency and allure.
"Welcome media friends to our press conference. Kevin Group holds this conference mainly to address an issue: First, we must respond to the previous electronic product explosion incident, for which we are indeed very apologetic."
Before she finished speaking, a buzz started below as the crowd fired questions one after another like costless bombs aimed at Irene Rowe.
"Please, everyone, don’t be agitated, let me explain. The occurrence of such product issues is undeniably our mistake; we’ve already recalled all products and are conducting inspections one by one, providing treatment and compensation to those injured. While it’s our responsibility, we surely will bear it, even at the risk of company closure, never allowing consumers to suffer any grievance."
