Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 354: Resolving Nina Kerr
"Indeed, it’s not right for us to waste so much of your time; it’s all because of Desmond’s mistake. After all, he couldn’t really help an outsider seize his own son’s inheritance, so you’ve been wronged." Nina Kerr was all too aware of Seraphina Sinclair’s tactics; she knew that getting angry at such a woman would only make her more pleased with herself.
"Seraphina, that’s not quite right. How could I ever do something like that? It’s just that in today’s world, the capable ones take action. How old is Jude? At such a young age, let’s not even talk about whether he’s suitable to be the White Family’s heir—what can he really do for them?" Nina smiled slightly, though her expression wasn’t pleasant.
If it were a fight for inheritance among adults like Joel White and his brothers, it would be easier to talk about. Contending against a child for inheritance rights is indeed a bit embarrassing.
However, the White Family’s assets are a huge piece of meat. Embarrassment is something she has long learned to ignore. If she hadn’t been shameless, how would she have the good life she has now?
Moreover, although the matter of the heir is settled in words, there hasn’t been an actual press conference yet. Who knows who will laugh last? Why should she give up?
"I understand your motives for working with Desmond, but you’ve also used him to do quite a few things. This ends now, and I won’t pursue it further. I hope you take care of yourself and stop bothering him," Seraphina Sinclair yawned. She had no interest in dealing with people like Nina and wanted to resolve this quickly and go eat.
"You might not get to decide this, Seraphina. After all, it was Desmond Fairchild who approached me first, not you. Collaborate with me when needed and kick me to the curb when not—I, Nina Kerr, am not so easily discarded." Nina dropped the pretense in front of Seraphina. Since Desmond didn’t want to continue cooperation, he should at least give her something; getting something for nothing is not the way this works.
Seraphina glanced at Desmond, with an air of reproach, and said to Nina, "Do I need to remind you how many things you’ve done under Desmond Fairchild’s name? Without him, your reputation would’ve been ruined on Diamond Island long ago—what standing would you have in Bayside City to speak to me?"
Speaking of this matter, Seraphina was filled with anger. If Desmond hadn’t pretended to help Nina do so many things back then, she wouldn’t dare confront Seraphina now.
Desmond knew he was wrong in this matter and didn’t dare argue with Seraphina, so he could only wait on the sidelines for her judgement.
Nina was left speechless by Seraphina’s words, but she was reluctant to let go of Desmond, who could shield her from the storm.
She wanted to threaten Seraphina but was pre-empted: "Nina, if you keep pushing, don’t blame me for leaking your old scandals to the media. You might still have protectors on Diamond Island, but now that you’re on Bayside City’s turf, who do you think will care about you?"
"You!" Nina hadn’t expected Seraphina to be so ruthless, she gritted her teeth and said, "Seraphina Sinclair, I’ve never done anything shameful, stop threatening me."
"You know best what you have or haven’t done. If you don’t believe me, feel free to try." With that, Seraphina hung up the phone and added Nina to the blacklist.
She found it disgusting to even have such a woman in Desmond’s contacts.
Desmond found Seraphina’s actions extremely endearing; a faint smile played on his lips, growing wider by the moment.
Seraphina used to be indifferent about these things; he even thought she wouldn’t ever get jealous. Now, she was paying attention to the smallest matters, and Desmond found it quite pleasant. The feeling of being constantly cared for was truly delightful.
As he took his phone, he said to Seraphina, "There are still a few more women in my contacts, do you want to..."
"I’ve already checked. Apart from Grandma and Anna, there are hardly any men, let alone women," Seraphina shot him a glance, unsure of what point he was making.
Though, to be fair, Desmond’s phone didn’t have much to see. His private phone barely had any contacts saved, showing how little he interacted with others.
With clear eyes, she looked at Desmond seriously, "About you and Nina, I don’t think she’ll let it go easily. Could you find a way to resolve it? Now that we’re back together, shouldn’t we deal with this so-called girlfriend quickly?"
Honestly, Seraphina was annoyed every time she thought of Nina.
Thinking of the past between Desmond and Nina made her feel even more uneasy inside.
Desmond playfully pinched her neck, his smile faint, "Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied, how about that?"
"That’s your promise. If you dare stay entangled with Nina, I’ll tear you apart," Seraphina said, raising her fist playfully like a jealous girlfriend.
"Alright, whatever you say." Desmond’s large hand enveloped her small, chilled fist, "But isn’t our top priority to feed ourselves first?"
With a shy smile, Seraphina leaned into Desmond’s shoulder, "Then let’s go, President Fairchild."
After dinner, they returned home to find Jude and Pomelo eagerly waiting for them, evoking a sense of guilt.
While they had reconciled and rediscovered their blissful romance, they had somewhat neglected the two children. Jude seemed used to it; after all, his parents were in love, and he was an accident.
But Pomelo was different. She was young and had a turbulent fate, needing much more companionship.
Despite Jude and Fiona’s company, Pomelo still longed for her days with Seraphina. So, as soon as she saw Seraphina back, she threw herself into her arms.
Seraphina couldn’t help but feel for Pomelo; she was a good child, orphaned and uncertain if she had any relatives left. For now, Seraphina was all she could hope for. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Lying in bed that night, Seraphina pondered deeply over this issue.
She turned her head to Desmond, "Pomelo has no parents and has lacked a sense of security since she was little. Even though she’s living with us, she’s well aware that without a status or a name, she’s afraid we’ll abandon her at any time."
"You want to adopt her," Desmond’s low voice sounded in Seraphina’s ear.
"Pomelo is all alone, and no matter what her parents did before, she’s innocent and needs a home," Seraphina wrapped her arms around Desmond’s waist, her tone tender with affection. Pomelo had experienced so much by the age of five and needed more care and love.
Desmond hugged Seraphina’s slender waist and understandingly said, "If you want to adopt her, I’ll proceed with the adoption process."
Seraphina looked up at him, "Does that mean you agree?"
"Even if I didn’t, you would still do it, wouldn’t you?" Desmond lightly curled his lips. Seraphina was always decisive in her actions. Asking him was just a formality; regardless of his response, she was determined to go ahead.
