Chapter 555: Chapter 35: Alien Species Demon 2

In the empty hall, a fleet of warcraft lay idle.

Some appeared to have been stored for a long time. Unfortunately, Su Ziyu did not find the interstellar spaceship he wanted; instead, he saw quite a few silver-white drop pods here.

"This base cannot maintain interstellar spaceships," Empress Isabella said, seemingly guessing what Su Ziyu was thinking, turning her head.

No problem for ten or twenty years.

But if it’s several decades or even a hundred years, even the best interstellar spaceship would be close to being scrapped without dedicated maintenance.

Su Ziyu noticed one thing when it came to robots, mainly synthetic technology; the Wasteland Plane might be slightly more advanced than this planet because the synthetics made by the academy were practically indistinguishable from humans on the outside. Of course, other technological aspects were not comparable to this planet; the gap was still quite wide.

In the spacious hall.

The further Empress Isabella walked, the darker her expression became, until she stopped and said, "Be careful. The base might be in trouble."

Su Ziyu sniffed the air; his Death Divinity told him that many people had died ahead.

"Over there," Su Ziyu pointed.

Soon,

Empress Isabella used her authority to open the door in front of them. Seven or eight sealed metal doors opened one after the other, revealing a special room ahead. Upon entering, she cried out in anguish, "No!..."

Rows of dusty hibernation pods appeared in front of them.

Most of these hibernation pods were opened; within Su Ziyu’s line of sight, he saw mummified corpses, some of which had presumably been dead for over a decade, practically turned to dry husks.

He walked over and glanced at a corpse beside him, his expression gradually turning grim, "These people all committed suicide!"

"This... this is impossible!..." Empress Isabella shook her head, "We contacted them three years ago."

Corpses don’t lie.

Su Ziyu looked up at the hundreds of hibernation pods filled with corpses; the entire hall resembled a grave that had been sealed for ages.

These people all committed suicide.

Under this blow, Empress Isabella appeared to have lost control emotionally; she flipped open one hibernation pod after another, then impatiently pushed open a door on the right, heading toward the base’s central control area.

Su Ziyu quickly followed.

Vigilantly observing his surroundings, he said in a deep voice, "When was the last time you came over?"

Empress Isabella paused, then said in a low voice, "On my coronation. Sixteen years ago."

That long?

Su Ziyu shook his head, not voicing certain thoughts.

As the heavy metal gate in front opened, a completely enclosed command room appeared ahead. Once someone entered, a projector above illuminated, displaying a series of chaotic information.

"Ulric Ivan..."

Empress Isabella’s emotions gradually calmed. She walked toward the central console without expression, picked up a handgun on the floor, and her gaze fell on the corpse in the chair.

The corpse was relatively fresh. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

The time of death should not be too long ago; it also died by suicide, with a bloody hole at the temple, yet its expression was strangely peaceful, almost as if relieved.

"The base’s artificial intelligence has been destroyed," Empress Isabella said, moving the corpse aside to open the console. After quickly inputting some commands, she said solemnly, "The base detected multiple abnormal spiritual fluctuations!..."

"The most recent was three days ago."

"Level 10 spiritual fluctuation."

Three days ago.

Could it have detected myself?

Su Ziyu walked over to take a look, suddenly furrowing his brow and pointing to the waveform projected, "What about these earlier ones? What are they?"

"I don’t know," Empress Isabella shook her head.

The most recent spiritual wave was likely Su Ziyu himself; his spiritual output was very stable, directly maintaining a level 10 peak value, so the wave fluctuation was small, resembling a normal EKG. In contrast, the dozens of spiritual waves detected by the base previously were quite bizarre, initially only level 7, peaking at level 9, then dropping back to level 3, with substantial ups and downs akin to a roller coaster, with a highest peak also being a level 10 spiritual fluctuation.

"Something seems to be approaching," Su Ziyu suddenly stiffened, then communicated telepathically.

The spiritual fluctuation projected by the detector showed special changes again; the bizarre spiritual wave reappeared, his intuition also warned of an imminent unknown danger.

—"Mind Prediction!"

A flash of white light appeared in Empress Isabella’s eyes; then her expression turned serious as she communicated, "I saw a hazy shadow."

"Just below the base."

"Energy center."

"There is a void battery of the Ancient Lost Empire near it."

Prophetic Spiritual Energy.

It’s said that some powerful beings can even see fragments of the future; unexpectedly, Empress Isabella could too, although given her current predicament, she likely hadn’t foreseen this. These abilities have significant limitations and questionable accuracy, but are still quite useful at times.

"What is a void battery?" Su Ziyu shifted his steps, his intuition warning growing clearer.

Empress Isabella communicated telepathically, "A creation of the void possessing infinite energy, Subspace Energy materialized on the Material Plane, Ancient Lost Empire once made some energy batteries, said to be technology from the Ancient Saint Era."

"They can maturely and perpetually, supply extremely stable energy externally without consumption."

"This energy is nearly inexhaustible."

"But the output energy must not exceed the void battery’s power limit."

"They are the central operational core of the base."

What the hell!? There is such sophisticated black technology?

Su Ziyu’s expression showed a hint of surprise; this kind of violation of the energy conservation law was beyond his comprehension.

"Where were they found?" Su Ziyu couldn’t help but ask.

Empress Isabella moved her fingers, communicating, "Ancient Lost Empire’s relics; they are energy sources for ancient ruins, sustaining the operation of ruins for thousands of years."

"It’s not the time to discuss these."

"It’s coming!"

A sudden gust of eerie wind blew through the passage ahead, but nothing could be seen with the naked eye; only spiritual perception sensed a chilling aura.

—"Spiritual Vision!"

A faint golden light flashed in Su Ziyu’s eyes, as he said, "The target is a spirit body!... No!... It’s a Void Life Form!..."

Empress Isabella did not respond at all. When Su Ziyu turned to look, he saw her somewhat dazed expression, appearing slightly drowsy, with a struggle and unwillingness on her face, then slowly closing her eyes.

"Alert! Alert!"

"Host under attack by Void Nightmare!... Mental consciousness invaded!..."

"Divine Immunity [Sleep] activated!..."

"Resist all sleep-related negative states!"

A dim shadow flashed past, Su Ziyu’s mental consciousness briefly faltered, then he fully sobered up. A dazzling golden lightning appeared in his palm, chasing after that dim shadow; amidst the rumbling noise, the lights throughout the command room dimmed.

Subtly, Su Ziyu heard a peculiar scream.

—"Void Nightmare [Alien Species][Demon][Soul Devourer][Consciousness Invasion]!"

This ghostly thing seems completely non-corporeal.

Its figure resembled swirling black smoke, with the upper half having a demon-like shape but not flesh; rather, composed of gathered black clouds. Upon Su Ziyu’s counterattack, it immediately turned into a billow of black smoke, attempting to engulf Su Ziyu again, seemingly trying to invade his body anew.

—"Domain: Lightning!"

Golden currents started appearing on Su Ziyu’s body, as he charged toward the dim shadow.

His current Divine Immunity abilities included immunity to electricity, sleep, disease, paralysis, and instant death effects.

The ability of this creature seemed like consciousness invasion, forcing people into a sleep dream realm, against which Su Ziyu was completely immune to these types of negative effects.
