Transmigrated with my corruption system-Chapter 37: The Young Lord’s Legend Begins [III]
Crunch! The sound of a Golden Wolf’s skull being torn apart echoed across the platform as the rest watched blankly.
The terror grew in their eyes. One moment, the black-robed figure was charging forward.
The next, another one of their own had fallen lifelessly. And the worst part being they couldn’t do anything about it.
Unleashing all those golden claws had drained a huge amount of their energy, leaving them helpless before the being up ahead.
Still, they didn’t give up, charging again, a glimmer of hope tugging at their eyes with whatever chance they had of survival.
"Now that’s more I like it," Ulric growled, watching the beasts charging back at him again. It wouldn’t be fun if they just stood there and waited for death.
But that didn’t change anything. If they thought they could overpower him with raw numbers, he was about to prove them wrong yet again.
Watching as the charging front two beasts lunged simultaneously, aiming for his neck and head, trying not to give him a chance to react.
Ulric smiled. It seemed even after all this, the Wolves still underestimated his strength.
Charging forward, he rushed to meet their attacks as he extended both his hands, grabbing their massive necks mid-charge as he continued his charge, carrying them as if they weighed nothing.
Their eyes widened at the unexpected turn of events, and before they could even begin to claw at him, he tightened his grip, cutting both their air supply as he watched them flare madly before he sighed to himself.
Even after controlling his rationale so his instincts wouldn’t devolve into that of a beast while tapping into his physique, it seemed the cruelty and desire for bloodlust remained.
Was it innate to his physique? He didn’t care about it now. He was done fighting it, so he embraced it. Unleashing all the maniacal desires, and almost instantly after, the strain he felt keeping his mind in check noticeably reduced.
Causing the chuckle bubbling from him to erupt into full-on maniacal laughter as the life slowly slipped from the two beasts in his hands.
He suddenly stopped, bringing his hands together as he smashed the two beasts together. Repeating the gesture until they were reduced into scraps of bone and flesh.
Ignoring the notifications that blinked into his eyes as the beasts died, he tapped the ground, launching into the sky to avoid the multiple charging beasts as they clashed into each other in a mad frenzy into the spot he once stood.
Only one thing flashing at the back of their minds: death was certain. But if they could bring the dark-robed figure down with them, then their death wouldn’t be without meaning.
But Ulric seemed to disregard all this. Navigating his fall, he landed on the back of one Golden Wolf.
It jerked abruptly, trying to throw him off its back, but it didn’t have much time to resist.
One blow and he smashed its head into pieces as it collapsed to the ground. He instantly picked it up by its tail, using it as a crude weapon.
Rotating it to send the pack of beasts clawing at him flying away.
Having established distance, he averted his gaze, slowly picking off one Golden Wolf after the other in the most brutal way possible as he conducted a bloody massacre.
Back at the entrance of the dungeon tunnel, Lena stared blankly. Her faint black eyes blinking rapidly. She’d thought she had seen it all, but this... this was just different.
At first she had been scared at the young lord charging at the arena with the level 25 Golden Wolves, but after the first clash she had found her fears to be unfounded.
Still, over the course of the battle, her anxiety couldn’t help but flare a couple times, such as when he was covered by an array of golden claws. When he had stepped out again, yet unharmed.
She couldn’t help but stare blankly. If she didn’t know better, she would have thought he was indestructible.
How strong did one’s physique have to be to easily shrug off an attack of such magnitude?
The thought froze her in place, the carnage being wreaked by the young lord only fueling the barrage.
Her thoughts were cut short when the battlefield ahead suddenly grew silent.
"Already over," she muttered, trying to suppress the shock on her face. With all she had seen accompanying the young lord, she thought she would have grown used to it at this point. But she couldn’t help but marvel, staring at the gory sight.
Before the dungeon suddenly trembled violently.
"He’s doing it..." she stuttered, her breath catching in her throat. He was about to face the final dungeon boss.
Barely a few seconds after the words slipped from her mouth, she felt the dungeon behind her trembling violently.
Only this time, not because of the phenomenon. But the hundreds of awakened rushing from the dungeon tunnels. With her hand on the dungeon wall, tracing the vibrations. She could see them.
And it wasn’t long before they came into sight. The previously empty dungeon tunnels leading to the arena were soon packed with youths.
A great commotion stirring as their eyes laid sight ahead. Before a great silence fell.
In one dungeon tunnel, a youth in a simple robe, clenching a bow in his hands, stared blankly.
At the massive arena, a single youth stood clad in a black robe. His hair trailing softly behind him as he clenched both his hands behind his back, staring at the deepest part where the mist was slowly clearing to reveal the dungeon boss.
What was shocking was the strewn corpses laying around him.
Massive Golden Wolves, or what remained of them, smashed into bits of blood. Still, even in this state they could sense the auras seeping out of their beings.
"Level 25 Golden Wolves," Kaiden muttered, a wry smile hanging across his lips as he shook his head softly. The gap was more massive than he had feared.
All he could think of while staring at the sight was that the young lord had really earned his title.
Defeating such a pack by himself sparked a sensation foreign to him as he looked up to the figure.
Curious to see him replicate the feat as he faced the final boss.
At another dungeon tunnel, an adorable girl came into view as she clenched the massive shield in her arms tightly.
Across her excursions in the dungeon tunnels, she had grown only to respect one thing. Strength. As to why she had chosen to be a warrior.
And now, feeling the figure ahead exude monstrous strength just by standing, she couldn’t help but extend her hand dreamily, lost in her fantasies.
Defeating a level 7 beast to her was already exceedingly difficult. What about a pack of level 25 Golden Wolves?
She gulped at the thought before a fiery glint lit up in her eyes. She wanted him. Almost drawn to him like a cat to a shiny object.
At another dungeon tunnel, a golden-robed youth ground his teeth repeatedly.
His eyes growing bloodshot as he sank into a mad rave, muttering to himself.
Asher behind him staring listlessly as well.
"T-this... how... I don’t understand." It had only been a day. Yet his power had grown to these heights? Cedric hissed, his eyes glowing with an orange glint. The temperature around him rising dangerously.
Before he suddenly stopped.
"You’re strong... but are you strong enough to face the dungeon boss by yourself?"
All previous times, it took all the awakened to face the Golden Wolves and final boss together.
Its strength was far more monstrous, and Cedric was counting on it as he tried to calm himself.
With the pride burning in Ulric, he knew he wouldn’t back down when he realized he wasn’t a match for it.
This strength others looked up to in awe would be the rope he would hang himself with. And he would be here to watch it unfold.
At yet another dungeon tunnel, a blue-robed maiden came into view.
Her piercing blue eyes falling on the black-robed figure, recognizing him instantly.
In the short time span they had been apart, he had grown stronger. Massively.
Seeing no visible wounds on his body, she exhaled faintly, clenching her fingers tight.
She just hoped he was strong enough to face the dungeon boss.
Across the dungeon tunnels, the awakened youths all stared at the arena where one figure stood.
Their faces twisting with shock, awe, and disbelief, trying to process the level of power the figure wielded to even make this possible.
The youth in question inhaled sharply as he singled out one notification.
[You have leveled up]
[Level 25: 300 / 50,000] (Peak F-rank awakened being)
A single step from E-rank, he mused before breaking from his thoughts.
As the mist cleared, the outline of the beast came into sight. Even without fully seeing it, the aura it radiated caused his face to tighten.
Something about this one was different.
The notification from his Basic Appraisal only confirming it.
[Sanguine Blood Wolf]
[Level: ???]
[Threat level: ???]
As it got closer, his premonition was confirmed, a whisper parting from his lips.
"It has a... bloodline."
