My Dragon King System-Chapter 392: Edging Towards The End
The next day arrived, and the colosseum was filled once more. Today was a contest for the kingdom which would appear as the opposing finalists against Xathia.
Adam rose from his seat, and the crowd fell silent.
"The second round of Stage Two will now begin," he said in a voice that carried across the entire arena.
"The first match, Dragonhold versus Yul’thera."
The crowd erupted into murmurs and cheers aftwr.
From the Dragonhold section, three figures stood and began making their way toward the arena floor.
King Oberon walked at the front, with his expression calm and focused. Behind him came Talen, the Grand Magus, his katana strapped to his side.
And finally, Greyfus, who cracked his knuckles as he walked.
From the Yul’thera section, three women rose.
At the front was Queen Thalyra herself. She was tall and powerfully built, with braided black hair that fell past her shoulders.
She wore leather armor reinforced with metal plating, and a massive spear was strapped to her back.
Beside her walked General Kyra, second-in-command of Yul’thera’s forces, and she held twin swords
The third was another Amazon warrior, younger but no less imposing. She held a war hammer that looked far too large for her frame, but she carried it with ease.
The six champions stepped onto the arena floor and took their positions across from each other.
Oberon glanced at Talen and Greyfus. "They’re Amazons. Do not attempt close combat. Keep your distance and we can make this quick work."
Talen nodded. Greyfus grinned wider.
Across the arena, Queen Thalyra raised her spear and pointed it toward Oberon. "Let’s see if you, Oberon, is as strong as I always assumed."
Oberon said nothing but simply stared back at her.
The lesser god at the edge of the arena raised his hand.
"Begin!"
——
The moment the word left his mouth, the Amazons moved.
Queen Thalyra launched herself forward with explosive speed, forcing the ground beneath her feet to cracked from the force of her movement as she closed the distance between herself and Oberon in an instant.
She swing her spear downwards in a vertical strike aimed at his head.
But then oberon had bluish lightning erupt around his body after which he vanished in a flash of light and reappeared several meters to the side.
Thalyra’s spear struck the ground where he had been standing, and the impact sent cracks across it.
She pulled her spear free and turned toward him without hesitation.
——
General Kyra had already engaged Greyfus.
She dashed forward, swinging both her swords in rapid succession.
Greyfus dodged the first strike, then the second, before raising his hand and releasing a controlled explosion that sent him backward through the air, creating distance.
But Kyra was already on him again. She moved with incredible speed towards the captain, making another attempt with her swords by aiming for his midsection.
But right, Greyfus released another explosion from his feet, launching himself upward and over her strike. He flipped through the air and landed behind her.
Then he thrust both hands toward her back and released a concentrated blast.
The explosion struck her directly, and the force sent her skidding forward, but she didn’t fall.
Instead, she planted her feet, turned with a gritted teeth and charged at him again.
Greyfus’s grin turned into shock. Did she just tank that?
——
The third Amazon, the one with the war hammer, had engaged Talen.
She swung the massive weapon in wide arcs, forcing Talen to keep his distance. Each swing was powerful enough to shatter the ground, and the air itself seemed to tremble with the force of her strikes.
But at some point, the grand magus raised his hand and activated his distortion magic. The space around the Amazon warped, bending her trajectory and throwing off her balance.
She stumbled but recovered quickly. Then she slammed her hammer into the ground, and the shockwave rippled outward, disrupting Talen’s distortion field.
Talen’s eyes narrowed at just how raw her power was, but she grinned and charged at him again.
——
Oberon moved around like lightning as Queen Thalyra swung her spear in rapid strikes, each one aimed with deadly precision and force.
After avoiding a couple attacks from her, he activated Godspeed technique and white lightning engulfed his entire body as his movements became almost impossible to track. He blurred to the left, then to the right, then above her entirely.
Thalyra’s eyes widened as she tried to follow him, but he was already behind her.
Oberon thrust his hand forward and released a concentrated bolt of lightning.
The bolt struck her in the back, and the force sent her flying forward until she hit the ground hard and rolled several times before coming to a stop.
But she pushed herself up almost immediately. Thankfully, her armor had absorbed most of the impact, and her skin showed no visible damage.
She wiped blood from her lip and declared, "We’re Amazons. We don’t go down easy."
Then charged at him again.
Oberon had been trading blows with Queen Thalyra for a few minutes now, and neither had gained a clear advantage.
She was strong, fast, and incredibly durable. Every strike from her spear carried enough force to cause fissures, and her reflexes were sharp enough to keep up with his lightning-enhanced speed to an extent.
Although right now Thalyra was currently on one knee, breathing hard.
Oberon reappeared in front of her and raised his hand, preparing to finish the match.
But in that moment, she drove her spear into the ground, with her left hanf and used it as a lever to launch herself forward while swinging her right fist.
This punch connected with Oberon’s chest, and the force of the blow sent him skidding backward.
Oberon gasped, as the wind knocked out of him. He looked down at his chest and his face contorted into a frown as the white lightning around his body intensified.
He vanished in a flash of light and reappeared directly in front of her with his fist, supercharged while simultaneously driving it into her chest.
The impact was devastating and Thalyra’s eyes went wide as she gasped for air. Her body lifted off the ground from the force of the blow, and she was thrown backward across the arena.
She hit the ground hard and didn’t get up after which a flash of light consumed her.
——
Greyfus on the other hand was breathing hard now.
General Kyra had landed several hits on him, and his ribs ached from where one of her swords had caught him. He had managed to avoid serious injury, but she was relentless.
She came at him again, with her swords flashing and swinging in rapid succession.
Greyfus released an explosion from his right hand, creating a shockwave that forced her to leap backward.
Then he followed up with another explosion from his left hand, then his feet, launching himself into the air.
From above, he released a barrage of controlled blasts that rained down on her position.
In response, Kyra raised both swords and deflected the explosions one by one. However, the force of the blasts drove her backward, and cracks began to form in the stone beneath her feet.
Greyfus landed on the ground and immediately released another concentrated blast aimed directly at her chest.
This time, the explosion hit.
Kyra was thrown backward, and she crashed into the arena wall with a heavy thud. Her armor was scorched, and blood dripped from a cut on her forehead.
But she still pushed herself to her feet.
Greyfus stared at her in disbelief. "How are you still standing?"
Kyra grinned, blood staining her teeth. "Because I’m not done yet."
But right then, Oberon who had just eliminated Thalyra blitz passed Kyra in one straight lightning motion and took her out.
Her body disappeared in a flash afterward. Kicking two Amazons out of the field.
——
Talen had managed to create distance between himself and the hammer-wielding Amazon.
He raised his hand and activated his distortion magic again, this time focusing the effect directly on her weapon.
The war hammer warped in her grip, and she gasped as the handle bent at an unnatural angle. She tried to swing it, but the distortion threw off her balance, and the weapon slipped from her hands.
Talen didn’t waste the opportunity. He raised his other hand and activated another distortion field.
The Amazon’s knees buckled as the space around her lower body compressed. She fell to the ground, unable to stand.
Talen then stepped forward and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Yield," he said quietly.
She gritted her teeth, then nodded. There was honestly no point with her continuing this any further especially as both her Queen and General had been taken out.
A flash of light consumed her right after.
The lesser god then raised his hand. "Dragonhold wins!"
The crowd erupted into cheers.
Talen walked over towards his King and Greyfus.
"That was tougher than I expected," Greyfus said.
Talen nodded. "They were strong."
Oberon said nothing in reply, instead he simply turned and walked back toward the gate.
