Chapter 259: Hell Raid Arc [ 2 ]

Hearing those cringy words, I decided not to waste any time, so I tore my scroll, and in the next instant, I felt my body being pulled across space. Not to mention, the energy stored in my Mind Realm began reacting to the outside.

I didn’t realize it at first, but it seemed like the Mind Realm managed to speed up the teleportation, and once the surroundings shifted, I knew I was back in the human realm.

And when my vision returned, I was standing atop a large cliff, God knows where. I was overlooking a massive chasm, and down below, I could feel not only the energy of several dozen humans and demons, but also tens of portals leading to the Demon Realm.

Whatever this location truly was, it was definitely not what Ren and Wilhelm had advertised. But then again, when I spotted Kai, Lana, Liam, and even Sylas, coupled with the rest of the retainers, I knew this was the right place.

They were talking amongst each other, not really paying attention to me. But the one person that truly caught my interest was Clementine, who was just sitting on the edge of the cliff, completely unbothered by her enemies by the side.

Morr was also on her shoulder, but he wasn’t doing much aside from resting. Even then, Morr soon flapped his wings and just landed on the cliff beside her.

When Clementine realized that I was there, she exhaled a relieved breath and stood up, approached me, and said:

"How’s the Demon Realm?"

"Mm... So-so. Can’t say I liked it much, but I’m guessing we’re going to be heading down there to fight inside it."

She glanced down at the chasm.

"You reckon they actually made their base inside the Demon Realm?"

"Yep. Though, that’s not really important now," I said.

Then, while she was a little confused by my words, I approached her, wrapped my hands around her from the back, and then gave her a kiss on the back of her nape, then a soft kiss on the side of her neck.

"I missed you."

She let out a giggle and put her hands over mine.

"I missed you too."

I let go of her, and she turned around. Our eyes met, and we stared at each other’s lips. But right as we were about to kiss each other, Wilhelm appeared beside us, ruining the mood entirely.

"Sorry to interrupt, but this isn’t really much of a dating environment, as you can probably tell."

Clementine scoffed at him.

"The scenery’s pretty nice."

Wilhelm rolled his eyes. "Well, you can enjoy the scenery after we wipe out everyone down there."

He then turned to me.

"Now listen up, Amon. I’m sure Ren already told you a bunch, so make sure to do your best today. Also, we’ve been getting word there’s someone else searching for these people we’re about to kill, so if we run into them, kill them on sight."

That was a little strange.

"Who is it?" I asked.

He simply shrugged.

"I have no idea. The only thing we know is that whoever it is can kill Demon Dukes in a single attack, which means they’re at least as strong as us. In fact, they might even be as strong as a Demon Emperor. That’s why, if it ever comes down to it, I want you and the others to prioritize your own safety, meaning you can run if you want to."

Huh.

Well, that wasn’t very reassuring.

Who knew we’d be dealing with some kind of powerful being on the side? Well... it was only a theory, from what I understand, so odds are, we might not even meet that being.

But despite that, I decided to be on full alert, and of course, Clementine was too. If anything, despite us not seeing each other for nearly two days, I felt like a lot had changed with Clementine.

She seemed more mature, and the look in her eyes was even fiercer. I had no idea what happened over in the Heirloom Kingdom, but if it was anything like what Ren had mentioned, then she fought the Evangelists and clearly won.

I was proud of her.

Seeing as how we were together again, and I learned how to enchant... I felt like maybe the time to propose is just around the corner.

I really should just do it faster.

"Want a mask?" Wilhelm asked.

I raised a brow. "No? Why would I need one?"

"Well, so no one recognizes your identity."

Right...

"So we’re going to leave some of them alive so they can spread the tale or something?"

He shrugged.

"We demons pride ourselves in our notoriety. If we don’t leave anyone alive, who’s going to spread the tale that so many powerful demons are present?"

Yeah, I hated these people.

But at the moment, they were my allies, and people I could use to get stronger. When I’m strong enough, I’ll have no reason to be loyal to any of them, and so of course, I won’t hesitate to kill every single one of them.

Though until then, I just smiled and shook my head.

"It’s fine. My name’s already been run through shit one too many times to be redeemable. I don’t really care anymore."

"Suit yourself then. I suppose we’re ready. I won’t guide you, since we are just here to spectate. Every decision and every action down there is in the hands of you, saviors."

With those words, he suddenly vanished. But surprisingly enough, I managed to track his speed, and of course, by the time he arrived in the sky, I was already staring at him as well as the other retainers. He was a little surprised by my perception, but I just smiled at him and looked away.

After nearly two days of training, I managed to get comfortable with the energy usage from the Mind Realm. It wasn’t that much different, and it only took a few hours of getting used to, and a couple more hours to master.

So now that everything was in order, I turned to the rest of the saviors, and after gently interlocking my fingers with Clementine, I approached them.
