Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 112: Setting Out To The Western Continent [ 2 ]
Johan let out a sigh.
"Fair enough. Take these."
He took out two silver badges from his dimensional ring and tossed them to us.
I caught one and quickly inspected it.
There was a small pigeon engraved in the silver.
What a weird symbol...
"Normally, you could only enter that continent after going through an extensive vetting process. But with those plaques, you’re allowed to be on the continent for up to a month."
Wiggling his fingers slightly, he emphasized:
"If you’re not out there by the month’s end, you’ll get hunted down by that continent’s factions. Oh, and I truly hope you two know the rules."
"You can’t freely use Gifts there. Follow the law, act like regular civilians, and... If the situation calls for it, just make sure you don’t get caught. That’s all from me. Should I mark you two down as the mission takers?"
I smiled slightly and nodded, letting him write our names down in his notepad.
To be honest, I didn’t expect to go to that continent for at least the next two months.
But this was a great opportunity, both to find out about the catalysts, and perhaps wipe out more of the Evangelists, if possible.
As for the rules, I’ll tell Clementine on the way.
"All right. It’s done. Keep the document and introduce yourselves as the top brass of the guild when you meet up with Arch Priest Fivien."
He sized us up one final time, and then walked past us, leaving the library.
Once he was gone, I finally felt relieved.
"Do you want to head out right away?"
Clementine nodded.
"If possible. Are we flying over there, or...?"
Of course not.
"We’re taking a ship."
"Ooh. I’ve never actually been on a ship before. Though, don’t you think it’ll be better to just fly to that continent and then swim the rest of the way there?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Sure, but what’s the fun in that? Taking a ship would at most take us like 6 hours. That’s plenty of time for me to tell you all the silly rules you need to know about that continent."
She pouted slightly.
"Fine..."
I ruffled her hair a little.
Without wasting any more time, the two of us exchanged a quick glance and finally left Lenice.
We flew through the sky, and eventually reached one of the ports on the Skyward continent, which had direct ship routes going straight to the Western continent.
This port city was considered neutral territory, so it didn’t have a name.
There were barely any buildings, and the only thing that made people come here was the massive port that spanned nearly 10 kilometers.
Safe to say, here you could find a ship that could take you just about anywhere for the right price.
So we flew down and filtered through the crowds of people who were searching for the right ships, until finally, Clementine and I stumbled upon one of the less rowdy ships near the edge of the port.
There was an old man with a straw hat holding a sign which read:
[Skyward Continent <-> Western Continent]
Pretty straightforward.
So we approached him.
"Hello, when do you leave?"
The old man met my eyes.
"Whenever you want. No one’s taking my ship anyway."
Well...
It didn’t look as good as the others.
Maybe that’s why.
"In that case, could we buy two tickets and leave right away?"
He raised five fingers.
"That’ll be five silvers each."
Oh.
So it’s the price then.
Five silvers for a ride between continents was pretty expensive.
The normal rate was 1 or 2 silvers.
But then again, from what I saw, the other ships would only leave in a couple of hours, and they would be filled to the brim with other travelers.
Basically, Clementine and I wouldn’t get any peace and quiet.
...At the end of the day, 10 silvers literally won’t even make a dent in my wealth.
So I passed 10 silvers to the old man and, alongside Clementine, stepped onto the ship.
It wasn’t a very big ship.
At most, it could seat 50 people comfortably.
I believe it’s called a packet ship.
Though I’m not exactly a ship expert.
Even so, Clementine and I sat down on the second floor of the ship, and after nearly ten minutes, I felt the ship rocking a little.
It seemed like the old man had started the ship.
As I glanced through the small window, I saw the other ships getting further and further away.
We really are heading toward the Western continent.
A relieved expression appeared on my face.
Just then, Clementine leaned her head on my shoulder and got comfortable.
"This isn’t so bad. An empty ship, and the seats are pretty comfortable too."
I nodded.
"Yep. Though it does make me wonder why this old man is so ready to leave."
After all...
"It’s not very efficient to sail back and forth with only two passengers. Even if he made 10 silver coins, he’d just barely be breaking even."
Clementine hummed in amusement.
Then, she glanced at the floor, in the direction of where the old man was steering from.
"His soul is slightly dark. He doesn’t feel like a demon or an Evangelist, but I believe he’s not a good person."
"Oh..."
I inwardly facepalmed.
"In that case, that old man might be a smuggler or a trafficker. Either way, be aware of your surroundings."
"We’re not going to fight him?" she asked, puzzled.
I let out a chuckle.
"Why would we? He’s giving us a ride, so we might as well take it."
Obviously, I was kind of bullshitting.
I just didn’t want to move away when Clementine was resting so comfortably on my shoulder.
Anyhow, since we were moving in the Western continent’s direction, I could relax a little.
And while I did that, I needed to enlighten Clementine a little.
"There are a few important rules in the Western continent, so listen carefully..."
