Chapter 60: Return of a Master

"What—" Before Klaus could even say anything, the messenger from earlier rushed towards them from the knights’ training area, screaming his name.

"Sir Klaus!" He was panting like he had just run a hundred miles in a row whilst being chased by some gangsters, "The portal is ready earlier than expected...you can leave now..."

’This quick?’ He turned away from Myrrava, trying to divert the attention from what she had said, especially in front of a messenger. Klaus didn’t want to be executed just yet for a misunderstanding.

However, before he could leave with the messenger, Myrrava interrupted them, "I’ll go with you!" Her shout was so loud that every knight turned towards the two, despite the large distance between them and the knights.

The messenger didn’t even know how to react; he just stood still, mouth agape as he didn’t know what to say.

"Uh," Klaus stared at the girl in front of him awkwardly as he was also lost for words at the sudden outburst.

He wasn’t some charming prince or some heir of a house; to be exact, he was the direct opposite of that.

"I will go talk with my father!" Without even letting the two react, she grabbed her dress, lifting the bottom and started rushing towards the castle.

’Has she lost her mind?’ Klaus just watched her run, still speechless, then he turned to the messenger with a sigh.

"Lead the way to the portal quickly," his lips twitched as he held the messenger’s shoulder.

The boy gulped once and started sprinting to the northern side of the castle.

’I have a faster way.’ Klaus was about to use his spell but then saw the bunch of knights staring at them and his stomach churned from just remembering the punch earlier, so instead he just ran next to the boy, catching up to him nearly instantly.

"Whoa, he’s fast."

"Such talent at a young age."

He heard many of the knights speak up respectfully, which surprised him, ’Probably since I’m a guest of the king.’

Klaus saw a beaming blue portal materialise fully, which seemed to be surrounded by a couple of knights, mages to be more precise, who seemed to be controlling the intensity of the portal fully.

They both deadstopped as they were a couple of metres away; the messenger’s legs were shaking, from the earlier run and from the current one as he started throwing up into a bush.

’Made it in time,’ he was about to step forward and leave without even saying his goodbyes when he heard a yell coming from behind them.

"Wait for me!!" He recognised her voice instantly despite them not even being remotely close friends or anything of the sort.

’Oh fuck,’ Klaus smiled awkwardly as he turned towards the sound and saw Princess Myrrava running towards him at full speed, which surprisingly was way faster than the messenger.

Her violet hair was tied up now, possibly so that she could run more easily, but her violet eyes seemed even brighter than before.

"My father had agreed!"

’No way...’ Klaus just stared at her awkwardly; she seemed so jolly yet her facial expression was empty, like she didn’t care or didn’t like what was happening.

’Am I imagining things?’ He rubbed his eyes, hoping her expression would change but it didn’t.

"The young lady is departing as well?!"

"No way! She is so young! Is she already flying out of the castle?!" The knights seemed to be emotional as they all started voicing their opinions and best wishes for Myrrava.

’Fuck me,’ Klaus turned back towards the portal and started walking; he slightly turned to the messenger who seemed to still be throwing up in a bush, "Send my best wishes for the king." With that, he sighed and stepped through the portal without even waiting for an answer.

Myrrava rushed after him and also entered the portal.

Time and space bent around the two of them, colours blurred and started blending together, but it didn’t last long; all of a sudden, they walked out into a forest.

Klaus breathed a sigh of relief as his body felt as light as ever before. He even moved his hands around a couple of times as he seemed happy that the pressure was gone.

"Woahh, it’s so easy to move!" Myrrava jabbed forward with her hand, and her fist blurred just from a single punch without any power.

"..." Klaus just started as she kept moving around and enjoying the easiness; however, deep down he was both scared and flabbergasted.

’Is this what they call neuromuscular adaptation...?’ he had heard that in his past life, it meant the body got used to doing something.

’Her body probably got so used to the pressure that this feels like lightwork for her,’ he sighed as she kept running around him, with that cold facial expression yet jolly mood still.

’Maybe if I ignore her, she’ll disappear,’ he thought so as he started walking in a direction, not even knowing where they were located.

’This is going to be tricky. I have no clue where we are,’ he sighed as he looked around for any sign; however, there was none, not a single sign of anything, like they were deep inside an endless forest without an exit.

"Let’s just move in a direction and see," he said to Myrrava, who now had calmed down and followed after him silently.

"I forgot to ask, but how does the academy even work?"

Klaus nearly dropped dead at her question. ’Is she seriously a princess?’ How could a princess just be allowed to go with a random man whom she didn’t even know at all, without any knowledge of the academy or possibly even the outside world?

"We have different years, as you probably remember from what I said...you can pick classes and...learn things," Klaus didn’t exactly have the knack of being able to explain things properly since it hadn’t been long since he enrolled himself.

They kept walking; however, he heard a shout all of a sudden.

"MASTER!" It came from his right; however, he wasn’t even able to react in time as someone launched at him from the side, sending him flying. The crash made his ears ring as he nearly passed out; however, as he looked up, he saw Jyrana on top of himself.
