Chapter 32 - When will breakfast be ready?

Chin-hwa got over his tears quickly and went to brush his teeth. For a while, as he walked through the family grounds that he was once so used to that it could be referred to as his second home, he felt his heart twitch in sadness.

Even when he tried not to think about it, the memories surfaced in his mind on their own, and each time they did, they followed that awful feeling that walked out the front door with him on that day. Kang-woo stood firm on his decision to leave.

*Knock knock*

There was a knock on the door so he walked out of the bathroom with his teeth brush still positioned in his mouth and barely said the words,

"Come in."

The door opened and Kang-woo walked in with a smile.

"Good morning, Hwa. Did you sleep well?"

Chin-hwa turned around right away. Was it instinct? There was no way he didn't realize that the person at the door was Kang-woo and yet he still stood there with his brush in his mouth, only to be seen and then embarrassed.

"Ah, yes." He said. "H-hold on a minute."

He walked into the bathroom, spat out what was in his mouth, rinsed it, and then came back out to find Kang-woo sitting on his bed.

"Good morning," Chin-hwa responded, looking down at Kang-woo. "How was your night?" He smiled.

The words he said... To pretend that all that hurt never happened... He wished that were the case and he knew Kang-woo might pull it off effortlessly, but the one who would find this whole pretense hard was him (Hwa)... Even if he wanted them to do it for his own sake.

"How was your night?" Kang-woo asked, reaching his hand to hold Chin-hwa's. "Did you sleep well?"

Chin-hwa's hand moved towards his hair while scanning him, the loose shirt he wore that made him seem relaxed and at home, his fallen hair that seemed perfect even as it was, and... his face that was crafted perfectly, defying all logic.

"Yeah, yeah, I did." He said with a gentle nod. "And you? How was your night?"

Chin-hwa's response seemed to have lit something in Kang-woo and softly, his eyes dropped.

"It was fine. I slept like a log, you see." He raised his gaze, smiling brightly.

It was times like this that Chin-hwa found it so perplexing that this guy, smiling all brightly and softly, was a dominant Alpha.

He was so nice, so kind and so bright. He never even tried to assert his dominance, not once. At least, not to his knowledge. Who knows what he did and how he lived his life when they were away from each other?

Slowly and subconsciously, he reached his hand to stroke Kang-woo's hair,

Who knows? He might've gotten himself a lover while he was away. He might've found love and then experienced heartbreak. But there was no way of knowing what exactly happened... Not when he asked them to pretend it all never happened.

He pursed his lips.

Kang-woo felt the soft strokes and as much as he wanted to sink into them, he knew Chin-hwa would wake up from his subconscious act and then distance himself.

So, he simply closed his eyes and breathed softly, using this method to feel his gentle caress deeply.

He opened his eyes and found Chin-hwa's lips pressed together as he deeply contemplated in his thoughts.

'He looks so adorable. What... Is he thinking of?' Chin-hwa thought. 'I wish I could caress his face, touch his lips, and...'

Chin-hwa dropped his hand on Kang-woo's shoulder and then said, acting like he would normally do in the past,

"When will breakfast be ready? I'm starving." He said and Kang-woo blinked, trying to comprehend but it didn't take long as he dropped his head with a nod.

"It's already ready." He said. "I came to tell you that."

"And you're just telling me this now?" Chin-hwa let go of his shoulder and moved away. "I'll take my bath quickly and come out, so for now, go out, okay?"

Kang-woo nodded and stood up, but he was being a bit slow, so Chin-hwa began to push him from behind.

"Hurry up. I'm starving so you need to get into quickly."

As if his push could do more than eager Kang-woo to pick up his pace. He stopped just before Kang-woo walked out the door, his hands still placed on his back and a little silence fell on them.

Kang-woo didn't know what Chin-hwa was doing and Chin-hwa, who was taking in Kang-woo's pheromones, his intoxicating and beautiful pheromones, let out soft huffs of air.

He wanted to stay like that a little longer and take in his pheromones longer but he felt Kang-woo would find it suspicious.

But on the contrary, Kang-woo, though not knowing what Chin-hwa was doing, stood there, waiting for him to be done.

'It feels like he froze up for a moment.' he didn't dare glance back to take a look at what he was doing. 'Is he sniffing me?'

At that thought of that, his face slightly flushed red and he almost chuckled. It would be weird if he did that, right? If Chin-hwa was actually sniffing him, wouldn't that be weird?

He must be overthinking it. But like this... He felt Chin-hwa more closer to his heart so he didn't want to move.

"H-hey," Chin-hwa called, gripping his shirt.

"What is it?"

"You should..." Chin-hwa pressed his lips together and looked down. "You should go wake Yun up as well."

As soon as he said that, Kang-woo felt his heart skip a beat, not the good kind but the fearful kind.

He had noticed it before, but he didn't want to admit it himself, but it seemed like Chin-hwa was... Pushing him to Yun-tae.

He didn't mind since Yun-tae was a good guy, a nice Omega who seemed just as excited with topics concerning Chin-hwa, as he did.

But he couldn't stop this nagging feeling that Chin-hwa was aiming for something by doing all this.

Well, if it was what he wanted, even if he didn't know what it was yet, he would do whatever it was.

"Alright," he said, finally glancing back. "Then, I'll go wake him up now while you," he turned around and dropped his hand on Chin-hwa's head, ruffling his hair. "...go take a bath." He smiled and walked away.

Chin-hwa stood there even after the door had closed, clenching his lips tight.

But then he released them, sighing afterward and said,

"Easy does it."
