I Can Extract Divine Power-Chapter 146 - 104: Wild Buddha Sect, Life and Death Pearl
While everyone else was examining the withered bones, Shen Bai alone was surveying the surroundings.
He noticed Wuhua’s expression, and his brow furrowed slightly.
Wuhua’s eyes were wide with astonishment and disbelief.
Clearly, the scene before him defied everything Wuhua knew.
After a moment of thought, Shen Bai asked, "What did you find? These withered bones seem to be related to Xuanxin Temple. Could it be a Monk from your temple?"
Wuhua, still reeling from the shock, came back to his senses at Shen Bai’s words. He looked at the withered bones before him, his eyes still filled with disbelief.
"Donor Shen, I can’t shake the feeling that these shattered, withered bones... they might belong to our Xuanxin Temple’s Ancestor."
"What?" Shen Bai’s brow furrowed even deeper. "You’re saying these are the bones of Xuanxin Temple’s Ancestor? But when your Ancestor passed away, weren’t you all present?"
Ordinarily, when the Ancestor of Xuanxin Temple passed away, all the temple’s disciples should have been present.
They would know what became of his remains and shouldn’t be this shocked to see them.
A bitter smile appeared on Wuhua’s face. "Donor Shen, there is something you don’t know. When our Ancestor was nearing the end of his life, he said he wanted to travel the world, to walk the final road of his life and explore the myriad wonders of the mortal realm. And so, he left Xuanxin Temple."
"Countless years passed, and he never returned. That is why everyone at Xuanxin Temple assumed he had passed away on his travels, we just never found his remains."
Shen Bai rubbed his chin. "Then how can you be so certain that these withered bones belong to your Ancestor?"
Wuhua pointed to the fist-sized bead in the skeleton’s hand. "That is the Buddha Bead the Ancestor always carried. He nurtured it day and night with his Buddha’s Light. Only the Ancestor could command it."
"Donor Shen, look. The Buddha’s Light upon it is resplendent. But if it were to fall into the hands of another Monk, it would be nothing more than an ordinary bead and would not emit such a brilliant glow."
Shen Bai looked where Wuhua was pointing and saw that the Buddha Bead was indeed shimmering continuously.
The other Jianghu People overheard their conversation. A few of them were sharp and immediately pieced together the situation.
"The Ancestor of Xuanxin Temple passed away here, and over time, he became an Anomaly. But something seems to be suppressing it—perhaps it has to do with that bead?"
The bead and the Wooden Fish were the only things here besides the withered bones.
Their speculation was well-founded.
After observing for a moment, Shen Bai said, "It seems this is the only path forward."
He had opened this path with brute force, and it was the only way through.
The aura emanating from the withered bones before them sent a chill down even Shen Bai’s spine.
This proved the skeleton was incredibly powerful, far beyond what the black heart could ever compare to.
Anything in the world can become an Anomaly, so it wasn’t surprising that the Ancestor of Xuanxin Temple had become one here after his death.
"Shall we go down and take a look?"
A Jianghu Person next to Shen Bai asked.
Everyone turned to look at Shen Bai. Unconsciously, they had already begun to look to him for leadership.
After all, from the moment they entered this place, Shen Bai’s strength and methods had earned their complete admiration.
That was just the way of the world.
When someone sufficiently powerful emerged, others would naturally rally around them.
Shen Bai gently stroked Amber’s head. "It seems to be the only way. Let’s go down and take a look. Besides, we’re protected by the Buddha’s Light, so there’s no need to fear the danger."
The Buddha’s Light was their last resort. If it shattered, they would be instantly transported out, making it the surest defense on this back mountain.
The group nodded and followed Shen Bai, stepping into the strange space.
As soon as Shen Bai stepped inside, he felt the chilling aura intensify.
At the same time, the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. He felt something watching him, its gaze filled with a cold despair, like a predator eyeing its prey.
’It’s quite intense. Looks like we’re in for a tough fight.’
Shen Bai set Amber on the ground to walk on its own, then drew Cold Moon from his waist.
There were no Deceitful Objects before them—neither the Wooden Fish nor the bead qualified. That left only the Anomaly.
The withered bones *were* the Anomaly.
It was obvious that to pass this final trial, they would have to confront the withered bones.
On this trip, Shen Bai had acquired three Deceitful Objects and, along with them, three wisps of Evil Qi.
But for Shen Bai, this amount of Evil Qi wasn’t nearly enough.
He wondered if he could eliminate this Anomaly and harvest some more Evil Qi.
But the situation before him was highly unusual.
The skeleton gave no reaction, remaining seated cross-legged, as if it hadn’t sensed their presence at all.
Shen Bai thought to himself, ’Nothing about this place is normal.’
’Why would an Anomaly show no reaction at all after sensing the presence of the living?’
While he pondered this, the surrounding Jianghu People began to move, searching the area for any mechanisms that might lead elsewhere.
Only Shen Bai remained standing before the skeletal Anomaly, completely motionless.
Wuhua, who was also searching, subconsciously glanced at Shen Bai. "Donor Shen, have you noticed something unusual?"
Shen Bai shook his head, his gaze shifting to Amber.
Amber was crouched at Shen Bai’s feet, staring intently at the skeletal Anomaly.
