To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 28: I’m so happy for him
Chapter 28 - I'm so happy for him
Yun-Tae grew up in a wrecked home. His Omega mother left his Beta father when he was just two years old and then his father remarried. He married a Beta woman and though she took care of him for the first two years she stayed in that house, things started going haywire when his father's drinking habit got the best of him and caused him to inflict harm on his wife.
His wife was so mad that she took that frustration out on four-year-old Yun-Tae. She always cussed at him, blaming his father on his face and even resorting to beating him up if he made a mistake.
That went on for a few years till she was fed up and left as well.
Yun-Tae was six years old then. He didn't know if it was the right thing but after she left, he felt relief. Yet, that relief did not last long as his father started passing on those treatments to him.
There were nights when he was violent and then there were nights when he was emotional. He blamed Yun-Tae for his mother's departure and though Yun-Tae did not know which of them his father was referring to, since they both left after all, he did not hate his father.
He was a wrecked man who did not know his front from his back, having a very high inferiority complex to Alphas.
But even though Yun-Tae did not hate his father, he did not exactly love him either. The feeling he had of his relationship with his father was a bit... Difficult to understand.
There were thoughts of running away, just as both his mothers did, but he never went ahead with that plan. After all, what could a kid do after running away?
Then, there were thoughts of just dying. He held a knife one day, stared at it, and wondered what would happen if he slit his wrist. It would hurt, yes, but would that make his father change?
There was no certainty that dying would change his father and he felt it was even impossible because if he died, it would be like running away from him and that was what his mothers did. They ran away from him and yet, he did not change.
Growing up like that, Yun-Tae learned how to smile outside even when he was dying inside. He never talked to the school counselor about it. Because if he did, if he told the counselor that his father was abusing him, then there was no telling what they would do to his father.
So, he bore with it all silently, hoping to get to college already.
He worked a lot to raise money for his School accommodations outside and made sure to choose a school that was very far from where he lived. He didn't want to have to run into his father no matter what.
Just before he took his college entrance exam, he found out his father was planning to get married again.
When people asked how he felt about it, with smiles and cheers, he simply smiled back, holding his real feelings in, and said,
"I'm so happy for him."
But in reality, he secretly pitted the woman who was going to get married to his father, and wished his father would not make marriage unbearable for her after living together for a few years.
Because his life was a mess for so long, Yun-Tae was not able to focus on other important things. Things like the basic knowledge of Omegas.
"Here," Chin-hwa handed Yun-Tae a can of beer. They were sitting at the back with scarves wrapped around their necks.
"Thank you." Yun-Tae said. "So, I saw your siblings driving out. It seems they won't stay for the night."
"Well, normally, they would stay the night if I'm around but they can't handle things as they are." Chin-hwa answered. "So they're going home."
"Ah, they have their own house." Yun-Tae said, and Chin-hwa nodded, opening his own canned beer. "Must be nice."
Yun-Tae hated that his father could never be happy, given he had such an awful drinking habit with a bad inferiority complex, but what he hated more was that he never had a happy home.
"Thank you, Chin-hwa." He said once more and Chin-hwa turned to him, wondering why he was thanking him again.
Yun-Tae looked down sadly. He was thankful that he got to experience this happy atmosphere.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" He suddenly spoke up and looked up at Chin-hwa. "What do you think I should do if Kang-woo-ssi doesn't love me deep enough to want to start a family with me?"
Chin-hwa's eyes widened and he choked on his beer.
He started coughing. He was coughing so hard that his face grew red. Yun-Tae got worried and kept rubbing his back, hoping he'd feel better.
"Are you okay? Oh, please be okay." Yun-Tae said and Chin-hwa raised his hand, waving him off.

"I'm okay. I'm okay." He said. "I..." He coughed.
"Hold on, I'll go get you water." Yun-Tae hopped up and ran inside.
Chin-hwa hit his chest, trying to calm down and covered his face.
Just what did he hear?
Yun-Tae scurried towards the kitchen and then checked the fridge for a cab of water.
He hurried back and handed Chin-hwa the water.
"Are you okay? Please drink up."
Chin-hwa took the bottle and drank the water.
"Yun, could you repeat what you said?" Chin-hwa requested, cleaning his mouth with his scarf. "What did you just ask me?"
"Ah, was it that shocking?" Yun-Tae shyly looked away. "I'm sorry that I startled you. You almost choked and..." He stopped talking and pursed his lips. "Do you think it's impossible?"
"Ah, I didn't say that but... I just, didn't expect it." He darted his eyes away slowly. "I didn't think you were planning to start a family with Kang-woo if you got to date him. It's... Not something I would've thought of on my own."
