To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 161: He-Nari looks too good to ignore
Yun-tae was very glad for Hae-won’s advice and bowed before leaving. But as he opened the door, he found Deok-ryu who was about to knock on the door.
He lowered his head and walked out.
"Ryu-Ryu, do you need anything?" He heard Hae-won ask as Deok-ryu walked into the room. He shut the door after entering so Yun-tae did not hear anything else.
Not that he planned to eavesdrop.
His heart felt light now that he had found a way. He had found something to rely on when pondering on the mystery called love.
Hae-won stared at his son after hearing him out and then a chuckle escaped his lips.
"Ma, this isn’t funny." Deok-ryu dragged with a disgruntled expression. "What do I do?"
"I’m sorry, sorry." Hae-won said, trying to hold back his laughter, but what could he do when the entire thing sounded like a scene from a movie?
To think such a thing was going on with his kids and he had no idea.
"Okay, so you’re saying Nari confessed his love to you, and then he proposed to you, refusing to take no for an answer?" Hae-won asked; just to be clear, he got the right message from all that long talk, and Deok-ryu nodded.
"I had no idea he was sincere all along. I thought he was always joking, but he made it clear today, and I can’t ignore it." He lowered his head and interlocked his fingers, tapping his feet on the ground as he felt anxious. "I just can’t ignore it."
"And why would you try to ignore it?" Hae-won asked, causing him to pause. "First of all, it’s really rude and unpleasant to have your feelings thrown to the side and disregarded, so in certain Nari has gotten more than enough reasons to give up on you countless times but he’s still going. And that’s because he really loves you."
Deok-ryu looked away. It wasn’t like he wasn’t aware. He-Nari made it clear that he would make him his no matter what.
Seriously, who was the alpha? He was starting to get scared that their roles had been reversed in this scenario.
"Ryu-Ryu, do you like Nari?" Hae-won asked.
"Well, I do. But I didn’t think of any other feelings for him till now."
"Then, what about now? Do you think your heart beats differently? Do you like Nari more than just your best friend?" He asked and Deok-ryu went silent.
How was he supposed to answer that when he was beyond confused.
"Let me put it in another way," Hae-won cleared his throat. "There are things one would often want to do with their lover, do you think you can do those things with Nari? If you can’t, then that means that feeling of friendship is all you’ll ever feel for him, and you see him as nothing more than a reliable friend. But if you can... Then there’s two things involved."
"Which are?"
"He-Nari looks too good to ignore or you have an underlying desire to embrace him."
Deok-ryu stayed silent. He brushed the back of his neck, thinking deeply.
Yes, Nari was more than appealing to the eyes, and any man, Alpha or not, would want to have a go at him, but he had never specifically had that thought.
Instead, the kind of thoughts he had were to wrap him in his arms in a tight hug, tease him till he fumes red, and... His mind suddenly wandered to her kiss and he covered his mouth, feeling flustered all of a sudden.
Nari’s soft and delicate lips on his made his body shiver out of nowhere. Did this mean he only desired his body? But he could imagine a life without needing to actually touch Nari, and at the same time, he could not imagine a life without Nari.
He was confused. What did this mean?
Hae-won placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled,
"I don’t think you need to ponder too much on it." He said. "No matter the conclusion you come to now, you’ll have no choice but to accept Nari because..." He looked up and pointed at the door that was slightly ajar with Nari peeking inside. "...Nari won’t allow you to reject him."
He-Nari saw this as his opportunity and entered the room, kneeling before Hae-won and said his rehearsed lines, 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Mother-in-law," he called and their heads almost exploded in shock. What did he just call Hae-won?
Nari grabbed Hae-won’s hand and declared,
"Please leave Deok-ryu to me. I will make sure to take care of him for the rest of my life. I will live and cherish him for as long as I breathe. We..." He shot a sharp glare at Deok-ryu who was sweating in confusion. "...will work hard and definitely give you a grandchild soon."
At the mention of that, Deok-ryu seemed to have passed out. What had the world come to?
"Oh my," Hae-won was shocked but he could see the sincerity in He-Nari’s eyes. There was no beating that.
Better to avoid the plot, ’If I can’t have him then no one can,’ because it looked like they were heading down that route already.
"Such a meticulous proposal." Hae-won said. "Well, if you promise to always bring him home to visit after you two get together then I’m fine with this union."
"Ma!" Deok-ryu wailed. "Are you selling your son right now?"
"Well, I don’t know." Hae-won laughed. "Nari didn’t give me any silver or gold so this isn’t a transaction. Don’t worry, my son," he dropped his hand on his shoulder and his eyes glinted. "You’re in safe hands."
"Ugh, much cruel betrayal." Deok-ryu wailed once more, his body falling onto the couch he was sitting on. "I don’t even know you anymore."
Hae-won laughed. He was such a drama queen. It wasn’t as if he was totally against being with He-Nari, he was just confused at the moment. He didn’t need to worry because his confusion would clear up with time.
"Thank you, mother-in-law." Nari’s eyes glinted and he stood to his feet.
He turned to Deok-ryu and said,
"With your mother’s blessing, our union will be blessed."
"What are you saying? Don’t you need to ask the rest of the family?" Deok-ryu asked, hoping he could buy time with that but unfortunately, Nari had other plans.
"Irrelevant." He said. "Even if they had a different say, do you think they would go against what your mother already said?" He turned to look at Hae-won. "He has the final say, after all."
"Then, now what?"
"What do you mean?" Nari reached for his hand and pulled him up with little to no effort. "We have to ’settle our differences’ elsewhere so we don’t trouble mother-in-law."
