To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 162: Si-woo’s tears
"Then, now what?"
"What do you mean?" Nari reached for his hand and pulled him up with little to no effort. "We have to ’settle our differences’ elsewhere so we don’t trouble mother-in-law."
He said and pulled Deok-ryu out even though Deok-ryu did not want to leave.
He mouthed ’help’ to Hae-won but Hae-won simply smiled as he waved.
"Haa, youth." He exclaimed and then giggled. "They’re so lively."
Just as Hae-won was about to close his door he got his third visitor that evening.
It was as if he had become a love counselor overnight. But in fact, he did not expect this particular person to come to him for advice.
"Si-Si," he called, surprised to see his daughter with a rather sullen expression on her face as if she had lost something very precious. "What happened?"
Between the twins, Si-Si was more mature. She was rational most times when Ryu-Ryu was irrational but it wasn’t like she didn’t have her irrational and goofy days.
Just like Ryu-Ryu, she was rowdy and overbearing, having this masculinity in her veins and attitude.
She was a handsome female Alpha, admired by a lot of Omega and Betas included but she longed for the attention of one particular Omega.
She was good at keeping secrets and keeping her feelings under lock, so absolutely no one knew she had a crush on He-Nari. It started with a crush, of course. But then it grew into deep feelings.
And since it developed earlier on, during middle school, her actions were quite defined. She was very nice to Nari and did anything he asked, so it didn’t come off as weird when she did the same while they were adults.
It was a cultivated character that they all knew her for. They’d say, ’That’s just how she is. She’s very nice towards Nari from the start but can be cold to everyone else.’ and it was true.
Only, they had no idea why she was so obedient and nice to Nari to that point. She was in love with him and thought she could keep loving him in secret, only for her to realize the one she was in love with was in love with another.
On that day, Nari was going through his best cycle for the first time; she watched him push Deok-ryu away and felt something strange about it, only to hear his confession.
Sure, she shared an appearance with Deok-ryu but Nari had never once used her as a substitute for her brother. At least, that was what she thought.
Her face and Pheromones were similar to that of Deok-ryu’s so maybe that was why Nari preferred to use her instead of Ryu-Ryu and let his feelings be exposed.
She was really angry but more than that, she felt rejected. To think Nari was chasing after Deok-ryu all along. Then... What was her role there?
She watched Nari suffer from his fever and for a moment, she had quite the dangerous thought.
It was the first time she had seen Nari so vulnerable and weak, unlike his everyday self. It was a new look and... She gulped... It made her think ’bad’ thoughts for her own selfish desire.
’What if I mark him and claim it to be an accident since I was too intoxicated to know what I was doing?’ it was a thought that kept beating on her head like a drum.
It was taking over her reasoning, which was very dangerous, but she was able to snap out of it and genuinely help Nari.
He trusted her enough to give himself to her while he was in such a vulnerable state. So, why would he break that trust and ruin Nari’s life?
If worse comes to worse, Nari may come to hate her and it would all be over. Both their lives would be ruined.
So, she helped out as much as she could while fighting whatever urges were coming over her. She bit her lip to the point it tore but she persevered till Nari was able to calm down and finally fall asleep.
The heat lasted for three days, so during those three days, she took care of Nari carefully as if he were a fragile object, and when he had fallen asleep, she would go to the bathroom and take care of her stuff.
Si-woo knew more than anyone how much it hurt to not have your love reciprocated but she came to live with it. She would rather see He-Nari happy, even though he was always acting so moody and cold than see him grit his teeth the way she was doing while knowing she had no chance with him.
And unlike Nari who was tenacious in conveying his feelings, Si-woo felt like a coward for giving up so easily.
If she had persisted and actually made a move, she wondered, maybe she might’ve moved Nari’s heart even just a little.
But now it was too late. She already saw it for herself. The glee on Nari’s face as he pulled Deok-ryu with their hands interlocked.
He had finally succeeded.
Though she tried to act like it no longer bothered her, her heart could not take it, and she needed to hide.
Hide, so that no one would see her cry. But she ended up going to Hae-won’s room, and as she entered the room, a dam burst in her heart, and she started weeping.
She hugged Hae-won as she cried her eyes out in the arms of her mother who was beyond confused.
But instead of asking questions, he simply patted Si-woo’s back, telling her it would be fine.
Whatever it was that was able to pull down her tough Alpha girl wall and made her cry like this would definitely pass eventually, so she could cry her heart out right now till she felt better.
After crying and blowing her nose, Si-woo said,
"Thanks, Mother," that was all she said as she stood up and headed for the door.
Hae-won watched her with concern but it did look like she was going to tell him what had happened.
"If you ever need a shoulder to lean on," Hae-won said to her and she paused. "Don’t hesitate to come to me, okay? My arms are open and I..." He smiled. "I’m a really good listener."
Si-woo heard this and smiled, her puffy red eyes made her look like a pufferfish, but she was grateful for having a mother like Hae-won.
"Thank you, ma. Good night."
(Note, when they say ’ma’, it’s not like a respectful phrase. It’s sorta like the short form of ’mama’. You know, in Korea, they say something similar to ’ama’ when calling their mother so I just cut it a bit to look similar especially when they’re dragging their words)
