Tiny Genius Alert! Mom & Dad Better Make Peace-Chapter 472 - 443: Jun, Breakfast Is Ready 3
Jian Liangtong’s pupils shrank dramatically, and suddenly her eyes were filled with tears.
Huo Shaojun’s heart was struck, and he raised his hand to cover her eyes, "Fool."
He deepened the kiss, and Jian Liangtong responded with equal intensity.
Under the lush old locust tree, sunlight filtered through the leaves, scattering like tiny golden bubbles, adorning the two of them, creating a picture one could never tire of.
He Xinyun and Li Jieying came out of the kitchen after preparing dinner, expecting not to see Jian Liangtong in the living room.
Though she had mentally prepared herself, He Xinyun still wore a slightly gloomy expression.
Wang Zhen was sitting on the sofa, eyes half-closed, working on a cloth shoe with an insole.
He Xinyun gazed at the doorway for a long moment before withdrawing her gaze and looking over at Wang Zhen.
Noticing the insole in her hand was rather small, He Xinyun’s brow twitched, and she walked over.
Standing before her, He Xinyun finally saw the size of the insole in her hand... it was clearly from a year ago, Hao Hao’s shoe size.
In that moment, He Xinyun felt both bitter and alarmed, "Mom, supper is ready, let’s eat."
Saying this, He Xinyun took the insole from Wang Zhen’s hand.
Wang Zhen was slightly stunned, then looked at He Xinyun and said, "I made it for Hao Hao, don’t forget to take it along when you leave. I wonder how many more years these old bones of mine can make shoes for him."
Wang Zhen spoke as she tremulously got up and walked outside.
He Xinyun stared at Wang Zhen in a daze and couldn’t help asking, "Mom, where are you going?"
Without turning back, Wang Zhen replied, "I’m going to call Tongtong and the kid in for dinner."
"Mom." He Xinyun’s voice suddenly rose.
Wang Zhen only chuckled and sighed, "Even though I’m old, luckily I’m not deaf yet, why shout so loud?"
He Xinyun’s cheeks twitched and she glared at Wang Zhen, clearly holding back words, but in the end, she said nothing further.
About five minutes later, the old lady entered from the doorway, holding Jian Liangtong in one hand and Huo Shaojun in the other, beaming with smiles.
He Xinyun watched with a frown, silently turning away to head toward the kitchen.
"Sister-in-law He..."
A frantic male voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.
He Xinyun’s steps paused as she looked toward the doorway.
"Who is it?" Wang Zhen turned her head, seeing a shirtless middle-aged man in only shorts running toward them, drenched in sweat.
Jian Liangtong and Huo Shaojun exchanged glances, then in unison helped the old lady stand aside.
The man reached the doorway, one hand on the door frame, panting heavily, glancing inside, "He..."
"What’s the matter?" Li Jieying asked, emerging from the kitchen, wiping her hands and looking puzzled at the man in the doorway.
The man raised his hand, pointing outside, "There’s been a big accident!"
"..."
He Xinyun and Li Jieying both felt their hearts skip a beat.
The man quickly explained the situation to the few present.
It turned out that He Wei and Jian Ningfeng did indeed encounter a wild boar, but they realized that they might not be able to take down the boar on their own, so they called a few men from the village.
Hearing there was a boar, a group of them rushed over.
The boar was about three to four hundred pounds and incredibly fierce. Surrounded by the group, it lashed out wildly. Everyone feared getting injured, so when the boar charged, they dodged.
The group had been chasing it all afternoon, hoping to catch it when it exhausted itself. Unexpectedly, at the last moment, the boar summoned all its strength and charged at Jian Ningfeng. He didn’t dodge in time, and was flung a great distance, then dragged forward by the boar gripping his arm.
Everyone was stunned by the scene, momentarily unable to react. By the time they regained their senses, Jian Ningfeng and the boar were nowhere to be seen.
At that moment, He Wei was leading the group in the woods searching for him, while the man ran back to the village to call for help.
Even though He Wei told him not to inform the family for now, he felt that such an event should be known to the family first.
Upon hearing that Jian Ningfeng was flung by the boar, He Xinyun’s face turned ashen, and when she heard he was now missing, she blacked out on the spot.
Among those present, Huo Shaojun reacted first, darting forward to catch her before she hit the ground.
Jian Liangtong felt a sharp pain in her head, and witnessing He Xinyun faint scared her out of her wits.
She felt Wang Zhen beside her start to shake violently. Jian Liangtong took a deep breath and, with reddened eyes, looked at Wang Zhen.
Wang Zhen was tilting backward, on the verge of falling.
Jian Liangtong shuddered all over and quickly supported her back, urgently saying, "Grandma, Grandma..."
Wang Zhen didn’t respond, her face turning an alarming shade of blue.
Li Jieying rushed over, her voice thick with tears, "Quickly, we have to get to the hospital."
The scene was chaotic and out of control.
Jian Liangtong felt her heart constrict fiercely, glancing at He Xinyun being carried by Huo Shaojun, then at Wang Zhen at her side. At that moment, she found herself unable to even cry.
Huo Shaojun drove He Xinyun and Wang Zhen to the People’s Hospital in the nearest county to the village.
Both He Xinyun and Wang Zhen were taken into the emergency room.
Jian Liangtong leaned weakly against the wall, her eyes red and swollen, staring at the tightly closed door of the emergency room.
Huo Shaojun frowned deeply, walked up to her and held her shoulders, his cold eyes were deep and serious as he stared at her, "Listen."
Jian Liangtong’s eyelashes fluttered wildly, tears welling up in her eyes, as she bit her lip hard and looked at him.
Huo Shaojun suppressed his heartache, quickly touched her forehead with his, and said calmly, "You have to pull yourself together, be strong; your aunt and grandmother need you, you can’t collapse, understand?"
Jian Liangtong’s cheeks trembled violently, her body slightly hunched, as she looked at him through red-tinged eyes, "My dad..."
Huo Shaojun’s cold eyes flickered slightly as he reached out to hug her tightly, "Uncle will be alright, fate has its own plans for good people."
Saying this, Huo Shaojun released her, anxiously staring into her eyes, "Tongtong, can you handle this? Can you be here alone?"
"... Alone?" Jian Liangtong’s almond eyes filled with confusion; one hand instinctively grabbed the hem of his clothing, uneasy, "Are you leaving? You’re not staying with me?"
Huo Shaojun touched her trembling face, "I need to go back immediately to help find Uncle."
Obediently, Jian Liangtong nodded fiercely, letting go of his hand, her pale lips parted as she said, "You, you go ahead."
Huo Shaojun watched the tear dangling from the tip of her eyelash, furrowing his brow tightly, "Can you handle it?"
"I can, I can do it." Jian Liangtong nodded through her tears, pushing him, "Go on, okay?"
Huo Shaojun pursed his lips, kissed her on the lips, and turned to walk toward the safety exit of the corridor.
Jian Liangtong watched his back, and just as he was about to turn into the safety exit, she suddenly straightened up and raised her voice hoarsely, "Be careful."
Huo Shaojun paused, looking back at her, "Okay."
He Xinyun and Wang Zhen were merely shocked and fainted. Two hours after being transferred from the emergency room to a regular ward, He Xinyun woke up.
"Husband..." As He Xinyun opened her eyes, she murmured for Jian Ningfeng.
Jian Liangtong’s eyes were slightly red, as she sat on the edge of the bed and gently held He Xinyun’s hand.
He Xinyun’s consciousness hadn’t fully returned, staring dazedly at Jian Liangtong.
Jian Liangtong took a gentle breath, leaned closer, and asked, "Mom, do you want some water?"
He Xinyun blinked, her voice raspy, "Where’s your dad?"
"..." Jian Liangtong watched He Xinyun’s eyes redden further, "Still looking."
Tears suddenly rolled down from He Xinyun’s eyes, and she just stared at Jian Liangtong, crying silently.
Jian Liangtong’s throat hurt terribly, as she slowly leaned against He Xinyun’s shoulder, wrapping an arm around her neck, "Mom, Dad will be okay, definitely."
He Xinyun closed her eyes, her face pale as if transparent, yet she slowly raised her hand, gently patting Jian Liangtong’s head, "Yes, your dad is blessed, if something went wrong, it wouldn’t be him."
Jian Liangtong closed her eyes tightly, "Yeah."
"It’ll be okay, it’ll be okay..." He Xinyun kept murmuring again and again.
Jian Liangtong had no way to comfort her other than by holding her tighter, while also comforting herself.
An hour after He Xinyun woke up, Wang Zhen was still unconscious.
Jian Liangtong sat at the bedside, while He Xinyun leaned against the bedhead.
Mother and daughter remained silent.
But they both understood the panic and fear within each other’s hearts.
As more time passed, the more anxious and uneasy Jian Liangtong and He Xinyun became.
Jian Liangtong squeezed her fingers, standing up from the sickbed, her voice hoarse, "I’m going to make a call."
He Xinyun looked at her with red eyes, "Where will you make the call?"
"I’ll use the hospital’s phone," Jian Liangtong said as she hurriedly headed to the door.
He Xinyun watched her anxious figure, tears rolling down again.
About ten minutes later, Jian Liangtong returned from the door.
He Xinyun looked at her urgently, "Is there any news?"
Jian Liangtong clenched her hands tightly, gently shaking her head.
He Xinyun’s eyes suddenly turned dark as she stared at Jian Liangtong, "No news doesn’t necessarily mean bad news, let’s wait a little longer."
Jian Liangtong turned her head aside, experiencing for the first time what it meant to be both anxious and fearful.
Time ticked by slowly, when He Xinyun and Wang Zhen were sent to the hospital, it was only around seven o’clock, now it was the latter half of the night.
Ever since He Xinyun woke up, every hour Jian Liangtong would go to the hospital reception to call, asking for any news about Jian Ningfeng, but every response was, none!
The torment of waiting, the accumulating fear in their hearts, was like an invisible giant hand tightly gripping He Xinyun and Jian Liangtong’s hearts.
He Xinyun still leaned on the bedhead, looking like a soulless puppet drained of blood and flesh.
Jian Liangtong squatted with her knees hugged against the wall by the door, her eyes red over and over again.
Close to five in the morning, the ward door suddenly swung open from outside, and a thick smell of blood wafted in.
He Xinyun’s wide eyes stared at a man walking in from the doorway, covered in blood, indescribably ragged, so shocked she couldn’t speak.
Jian Liangtong looked up, dumbfounded as she stared at the man standing in front of her.
