The X Guide-Chapter 160: Realm Core (8)
Khal’s tone was calm, at least when he asked this.
Ayen’s reaction was unusual. Even without him asking, both he and Devion could see that Ayen was not worried.
One thing both of them noticed about Ayen was that he tended to be straightforward and one who followed his instincts the most. Most of Ayen’s actions were driven by his instincts and desire.
Ayen also was not one to risk his life. This point calmed the two, but they were still upset. Ayen had no intention to say assuring words, which he never meant.
He was also clueless about what was about to happen. It was true he was not feeling nervous, but he remained apprehensive about the results.
"I don’t know." Ayen could only answer this way. Was he being too nonchalant about this? "It’s not painful," he repeated.
The two stared at him and let out a sigh.
"You really..." Devion brushed his face but withdrew his hand and stopped holding the core. He hugged Ayen’s legs and watched as the core in Ayen’s palm finally moved again.
"Let us know once it makes you uncomfortable." Khal gave up and could only advise Ayen with this.
They were not in a leisurely position anymore, as the two faced him and were vigilant for anything that might happen. Ayen also watched the core burrow further inside.
It was strange, as it was not painful, and there wasn’t any blood either. He was not as anxious as well.
The three of them focus their attention on the core until it is completely buried inside Ayen’s palm. The two espers quickly asked Ayen a question.
"How is it?"
"Tell us what you feel, Ayen."
Ayen did not immediately answer them but closed his palm before he opened it again. There was no discomfort, but his brows furrowed.
"What is it?" Khal held Ayen’s hand, as though wanting to feel the core.
"It’s... moving." Ayen began his updates as the two stared at him and listened. The core was moving from his palm until it stopped at... "It’s on my wavelength."
Ayen closed his eyes and observed his wavelength. Mana wavelengths did not have a physical form or anything that was in a literal sense. They were something abstract, but they truly exist.
Some said it was located around the abdomen, as one could feel the most reaction around this part with a guiding session. But the majority claimed it was in everyone’s soul. Where was the soul located? It was still a mystery.
Guides and Espers could notably observe and even connect with them. Wavelengths were what set everyone apart as a unique identity.
Ayen activated his guiding energy, and he was startled as he realized that the core truly settled in his wavelength and that it did not interfere with how he used his guiding energy.
"It’s on your wavelength?" Khal frowned, exchanging a glance with Devion.
Ayen opened his eyes and nodded, and proceeded to tell them what he had just found out. Devion was more sensitive to anything that was settling on one’s wavelength.
"Guide us. I want to see if we can sense it." Devion suddenly suggested it with a heavy expression. Khal and Ayen glanced at him. His expression did not change. "We need to make sure the core isn’t problematic."
However, even with a guiding session, they would not really tell if the core had issues. Devion only wanted to sense it, and if it had similarities with the... curse.
The curse was like an uninvited guest that was trying to replace its owner. Devion was fighting with it for a decade and had already become familiar with its behavior.
Of course, a guiding session would not guarantee that they would be able to sense the core that settled in Ayen’s wavelength, but it was worth a try.
Khal agreed after a few seconds. Ayen was not one to refuse either. This was also to reassure them. Although he had not felt any hostility toward it, Ayen was not certain if it was just a facade.
Holding their hands, Ayen activated his wavelength and let the two connect with him. This was more than a guiding session, as their goal was to sense the core inside him.
Khal’s and Devion’s expressions were also different than their usual guiding session. They were tense to say the least.
The trio guiding sessions were always more complete than an individual session, and they had far better effects. Khal and Devion concentrated on ’looking’ at Ayen’s wavelength more than the sensation the triple connection gave them.
"It’s really there," Devion muttered in surprise.
Khal’s mouth parted, about to say something, but he closed it again. He wanted to observe more. This was truly an unexpected scenario.
They did not know if it was indeed a fortune or a misfortune.
Ayen then activated his guiding energy and guided the two espers. This was to show them how the core truly did not intervene.
In fact, Ayen even felt that it was also beneficial in some way. His guiding energy was always smoothly channelled through their connection, but it became more efficient.
Khal and Devion could feel it too.
Once the guiding session, which only lasted ten minutes, ended. The three chose to fall silent and became lost in their thoughts.
"I don’t feel any hostility." Devion was the first to shatter the silence. It was far different than the curse. He glanced at Khal, seeking his opinion.
Khal stared at Ayen’s eyes, then he shifted to Devion.
"Mhm. I can’t see any issues." Before Devion and Ayen sighed in relief. "But you have to constantly observe it," he warned. Not as firm as earlier, but in a calm tone either.
Ayen nodded. He was very aware of this.
"How can we use it?" Ayen’s question made the two stare at him again.
"You, seriously." Devion hugged Ayen and chuckled. Khal also hooked his head helplessly. They were worried, and Ayen never showed the same reaction, not even once.
It seemed they had to drop their suspicion for now.
Ayen met Khal’s gaze as he tightly held Devion, responding with an embrace.
"I’m serious with my question," Ayen repeated again, after all, the monster said it was something that could help them.
"We’ll find out." What else could he say? Khal did not know either. For now, he was relieved that Ayen was unharmed.
