Chapter 207: Chapter 197: Blood-crystal Deer (Part 2)

"Too much salt."

She suddenly had an urge to tease Zeke, purposely frowning as she spoke.

Zeke paused his fingers by her temple, a trace of panic flashing in his eyes, and quickly tasted the soup from the clay bowl.

He found the seasoning just right, at least he didn’t find it salty.

But he didn’t doubt Luna Sutton’s words, assuming that since she had just given birth, her taste might be lighter, naturally thinking it was too salty.

"I forgot you just gave birth, and prefer lighter flavors. I should have added less salt."

He stood up to pour it out, "I’ll make you a new one."

Luna Sutton was momentarily stunned, thinking this man really couldn’t take a joke, he actually believed her.

Just as she was about to reach out to snatch it back.

She saw Malachi Arcanus had already snatched the deer meat soup from Zeke’s hand, "What a waste to pour it out, better to let me drink it."

With that, he gobbled up the entire bowl of deer meat in a flash, not leaving even a drop of soup.

Zeke’s jade eyes suddenly turned cold, three Wind Blades forming at his fingertips, aiming straight at Malachi’s throat, "Spit it out."

Malachi nonchalantly licked the soup off his lips, swallowing hard, "It’s swallowed clean."

He then leaned close to Zeke’s ear, grinning maliciously, "Trying to take the chance to be attentive, but I drank the soup instead. Are you upset? But it really did taste good, didn’t think you had this skill, Zeke."

The Wind Blades at Zeke’s fingers suddenly surged, the temperature in the cave dropping sharply.

Rhys Blackwood discreetly shielded the snake eggs behind him, his legs transforming into a snake tail, silently encircling Luna Sutton.

He wouldn’t intervene even if these two fought to the death, as long as it didn’t affect the snake eggs and Luna.

Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes slightly narrowed, one hand protecting the three cubs, scolding coldly, "If you want to fight, take it outside."

Lyle Sutton rubbed his brow wearily, frowning at Zeke, "Put those Wind Blades away, the deer meat can be stewed again. Luna just gave birth and needs to rest."

He then kicked Malachi, "You brat, can’t you stew your own if you want to drink? Why snatch his?"

Even if it was salty, it was made by Zeke for Luna.

Even if it got wasted, it wasn’t Malachi’s to drink anyway.

Internally, he suddenly felt this kid’s emotional intelligence was a bit low.

Malachi deftly dodged Lyle’s kick, casually tossing the empty bowl onto the stone table, smiling roguishly, "Leader, I just didn’t want to waste it."

His gaze turned towards Zeke, a playful expression on his face, "Besides, Zeke’s soup-making skills are indeed good, if Luna can’t enjoy it, why can’t I have a taste for her?"

The Wind Blades at Zeke’s fingertips suddenly dissipated, his jade eyes coldly sweeping over Malachi, "If you touch my stuff again next time..."

The sentence was unfinished, but the threat was evident.

"Alright, what’s the big deal?"

The witch doctor interrupted the farce helplessly, leisurely walking over to the stone bed to carefully examine Luna Sutton.

He then withdrew his hand.

"The girl, Luna, has no major issues, just a bit anemic and needs good recovery after childbirth."

Saying this, he retrieved a few dark red herbs from the Beast Skin Bag, "This is Red Blood Ginseng, best used with deer meat soup for nourishment. Drink it for a while, and her energy should come back."

Corbin Crowley stretched out his hand to take the few dark red Blood Ginseng, glanced at them, then disdainfully tossed them to Zeke, "Since you’re so eager to play the attentive one, you’re responsible for Luna’s meals for the time being."

Zeke caught the Red Blood Ginseng with a flick of his fingers, his jade eyes giving Corbin a sidelong glance, "You sure know how to find work for me, but I don’t mind taking care of Luna."

Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes slightly narrowed, his long fingers gently caressing the three little wolf cubs in his arms, mockingly remarking, "Taking care of females is a male’s duty. If I didn’t have to care for the cubs, you think I’d leave this to you?"

He finished, his gaze falling on Luna Sutton’s pale face, suddenly standing up to wrap her exposed feet with a Beast Skin Blanket, "Though the Red Blood Ginseng is good, these few alone aren’t enough."

His silver eyes narrowed slightly, "Tomorrow, I’ll hunt a few Blood-crystal Deer, their marrow combined with Red Blood Ginseng is truly nourishing."

Rhys Blackwood suddenly lifted his head, frowning, "Blood-crystal Deer only appear near the Glacian Chasm, they’re extremely rare and hard to find, I’ll go with you tomorrow."

The Blood-crystal Deer themselves aren’t aggressive, making them not too difficult to capture.

But the challenge lies in their presence only being at the Glacian Chasm.

The Glacian Chasm is one of the ten forbidden areas on The Beast World Continent, exceedingly dangerous, with countless beastmen perishing there annually.

Luna Sutton didn’t know what a Blood-crystal Deer was, nor where the Glacian Chasm was, or the dangers it held.

Lyle Sutton, hearing this, deeply frowned, looking at Corbin Crowley, "The blizzards in the Glacian Chasm are something even high-level beastmen struggle against, last year only a few returned from the Raging Lion Tribe’s hunting party. It’s too dangerous to head there recklessly."

Corbin Crowley and Rhys Blackwood, caring so much for his daughter, made him happy as a father.

However, he was more concerned about the safety of Corbin and Rhys.

If something happens, not to mention how heartbroken Luna would be,

It would also be a great loss for The Wolf Tribe.

To risk it all for a few Blood-crystal Deer simply wasn’t worth it.

In Lyle’s view, Luna wasn’t so weak she couldn’t get up, with a few Blood Ginseng for nourishment, she’d be fine.

Previously, when Quinn Morgan had a child, she didn’t have all these supplements.

Not only did she nurse the child herself, she also continued to work in the fields, wash beast hides, and cook, leaving nothing undone.

None of the tribe’s females were seen as this delicate.

Luna Sutton, unaware of what Lyle was thinking, upon hearing of the danger posed by the Glacian Chasm, which even the Raging Lion Tribe’s beastmen succumbed to, frowned slightly.

Yet, on the surface, she lightly smiled, "You guys exaggerate, I’m not that delicate?"

With these words.

Her gaze fell on the few Red Blood Ginseng in Zeke’s hand, her eyes flickering, "To be honest, I don’t even need these Red Blood Ginseng, I’m more worried about getting a nosebleed from too much nourishment."

Though postpartum weakness is a thing, drinking a few nourishing soups, getting proper rest without exposure to drafts and cold water would do the trick for recovery.

There really was no need to make such a fuss, as it might make her appear overly pampered.
