The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 83: Princess Vida
Princess Eleanor looked at the badge. Her hidden emotions were about to resurface as she tried to maintain her calm.
"Isn’t he handsome," Princess Eleanor was shocked and suddenly ran her ears. She looked around to find a Princess looking at the Crown Prince with a soft gaze.
Princess Eleanor knew what those eyes meant. The Princess was interested in the man.
Princess Eleanor smiled but she did not say anything else. She was not interested in the man but she could not say that out loud. After all, the prophecy meant that the Princesses should be willing to come to the Empire.
Princess Eleanor was willing but she was not willing to marry the man. "Yes, he is."
The Princess sitting next to her smiled as her gaze shifted toward Princess Eleanor, "You feel so too. By the way, I am Princess Vida from the Cenid kingdom."
Princess Eleanor looked at the lady as she nodded her head with a smile on her face. "Princess Eleanor from the Angevin Kingdom."
"Oh, so you are the one who also got attacked." Princess Vida said as she put her hands over her mouth in shock. "I had to face a similar situation. I am just happy that I am alive. It was a traumatizing experience."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She had heard about this Princess from Nia. Her lady in waiting and Nia were acquaintances. "It was a traumatizing experience for me too. I just hope the injury gets healed soon."
Princess Vida’s eyes showed her concern as she said in a small tone, "I have some good medicine with me. I will send it to you. It works like magic and the scar will disappear soon."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she smiled. She looked at Princess Vida who was showing genuine care for her. Her golden hair shines like gold under the sun while her blue eyes look so mesmerizing.
’She looks like a goddess,’ Princess Eleanor thought. But she could see the loneliness in her gaze.
Princess Eleanor could understand what was going through Princess Vida’s mind. She was alone here and she wanted to make some friends. At least, someone to talk to.
Nia had informed Princess Eleanor how the knights blamed the other Kingdoms for attacking them and it had already created a drift between Princess Vida and other Princesses but she also knew that it would be the end result of this anyway.
Every Princess here wanted to be the next Crown Princess. So what was the use of being friends when you had to stab one another in the back to get to the position? Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked at the Crown Prince again.
Even though she had similar interests, she did not want to marry the man. She wanted to know the truth and Princess Eleanor did not mind making friends in the process.
"I just do not understand who would want to harm us." Princess Eleanor said as she looked down. Her eyes were tinted with water as she struggled to maintain her cool.
"But it was you who came into harm’s way," A harsh voice said, making Princess Eleanor tremble.
She swallowed hard as she looked at the Crown Prince who was staring at her. His gaze showed the ridiculous in them. Princess Eleanor could not understand what he was trying to do but she understood that it must be related to Sir Kit. Everything was related to him.
’Did he make up some story to justify why I was injured and why he should be responsible?’ Princess Eleanor thought but she was clueless. She did not know how to react.
Princess Eleanor was aware of the Crown Prince’s gaze observing her. His eyes were like a vulture observing the prey. "Yes, I had to do that."
Crown Prince Richard laughed as if he had never heard anything more useless than this. "The Princess had to do that? Care to explain why? Why was your escort’s life more important than yours?"
Princess Eleanor looked around the table. She could see every single person there looking at her as if waiting for her answer. She did not know why everyone was eager when they had established that the Crown prince was not interested in her.
’Maybe they are curious. But why is the Crown Prince asking me such questions? What is he trying to pull?’ Princess Eleanor could not find the answer but she knew that she had to reply to the Crown Prince. Maybe reply in such a way that the piercing eyes of the other Princesses move away from her.
"The escorts were the only ones who had protected me when the enemy attacked. And when I saw that he was in danger I could not help but save him. I think as a Princess it was my duty to do so," Princess Eleanor looked down at the table. She refused to look at the Crown Prince.
Prince Richard looked at Princess Eleanor as he saw how hard she was trying to avoid him. His eyes darkened as he heard her talk about duty.
Crown Prince Richard could not help but laugh, "As a Princess, it is your duty to protect yourself and not go and harm yourself just to protect a man that can do it himself. All the escorts belong to House Beaumont. If they did not know how to protect themselves then what was the use of me sending them there?"
Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she nodded her head, "I apologize,"
"Silly," The Crown Prince said as she moved his eyes away from Princess Eleanor. "I hope that you understand that you should not put yourself in danger. God will not be happy with this,"
Princess Eleanor wanted to roll her eyes badly but she controlled herself. Her hands formed fists as she nodded her head like an obedient child who knew what she had done wrong.
The Crown Prince was happy seeing his impact on her. "Let’s enjoy the brunch then,"
