Chapter 81: Brunch

Princess Eleanor sat on the bed as she looked outside in a daze.

"Princess, the medicine," Nia said in a small tone. She was afraid to keep the Princess away from her thoughts.

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she extended her leg. Her complexion was pale as she struggled to look lively.

Nia bit her lips as she shook her head. She knew the reason why the Princess was looking like a withering flower. Nia looked down at the wound as her eyes widened. "Princess did you .."

"Shh.." Princess Eleanor said as she looked at her lady in waiting with wide eyes. "Nia, be mindful of the place. We are not in the Angevin Kingdom. We are in the Roulux Empire, a place more dangerous. And on top of it, we are at the temple."

Nia took a deep breath as she nodded her head. "I understand Princess but this. Why does it feel like the wound is not healing at all? It looks more fresh," Nia said in a whisper but the panic in her tone was visible.

Nia wanted to know what was wrong with the wound. Last night when she had bandaged it, the wound was not bleeding. But today it looked like the blood was drawn from it.

Princess Eleanor did not respond as she looked at the side. Nia who was staring at the Princess could not help herself as she followed her gaze. Her eyes halted at a fruit knife at the side.

Nia’s eyes widened in shock. She could not believe her eyes. "Why would you," Nia said but she closed her mouth in a hurry once she realized what she was trying to do.

"The wound might have opened," Princess Eleanor said in a dull tone. Her eyes showed shock about the situation. "Should we apply for some other medicine?"

Nia nodded her head as she got up. "I will bring some hot water to wash the wound. I will be back,"

Nia left the room, leaving Princess Eleanor alone. The Princess looked at the closed door but an uneasiness spread through her. SHe did not know why but she felt trapped here. She could feel many Priestesses walking by the door.

The feeling of being watched was undeniable and she struggled to understand the situation.

’Where is Sir Kit?’ Princess Eleanor thought as she bit her lips in annoyance, ’Should I send Nia to call him?’

Princess Eleanor was in a dilemma. She knew that the temple would try to treat her fast and her wounds would not be healed till the time she entered the Grand Duke’s mansion.

Princess Eleanor was confident that Sir Kit would do something regarding the situation. They would find a way so that she will be able to enter the Mansion.

’I should have told Nia to bring me the roots. I need to drink the soup too.’ Princess Eleanor closed her eyes as she took a deep breath.

But soon her eyes widened as she looked at the door when she heard a noise coming from outside. Her ears sharpened as the Princess tried to understand what was being said outside. Although she could not hear anything properly, she could still make out what they were saying.

"So the Crown Prince wants to meet the Princesses,"

"I need to work hard and make the Princess stand out."

"There is no one more beautiful than our Princess. The Crown Prince could not take his eyes off her."

Princess Eleanor’s raised her eyebrows. She wanted to laugh at the negativity of the people but she could not. She understood what everyone was trying to do. If you do not become the Crown Princess then you have to stay in the Empire. There was no turning back. So won’t it be better if one manages to become a concubine instead?

Princess Eleanor shook her head. Being a concubine will lead to a life of luxury but then one also has to share their husband with many. Some Princesses might not mind it, but some would.

’Every Kingdom has a different set of rules and customs that they follow,’ Princess Eleanor thought, ’It will be fun to watch everyone’s reaction.’

Princess Eleanor was in deep thoughts when the door was opened again and Nia walked inside. Her eyes looked at the Princess as if she was about to complain. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"The Crown Prince is coming?" Princess Eleanor asked as she saw Nia’s eyes widen in shock.

Nia swallowed hard as she sat on the floor beside the bed. She put the cloth in water as she started to wipe the wound clean.

"Will you not ask how I know this?" Princess Eleanor giggled as she saw her Lady in waiting to ignore her. "What is wrong Nia? Have I done something?"

Nia who was quite looking up at the Princess, "The Princess always knows things beforehand. I wanted to surprise you with the news. Who is telling you all those things? Is it Sir Kit? Did he come here when I wasn’t around?"

Nia looked around the room to find some clues and prove that Sir Kit was there. Princess Eleanor laughed as she shook her head.

"All the ladies were excited. They were so loud that I could even hear their words inside." Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked at her lady in waiting. "And no one tells me things apart from you."

"The Princess should not lie. At least, not in the temple." Nia said as she started to apply medicine to the wound. Her hands spoke fast as she started to wrap the bandage around. "Anyways, all the princesses are called in the garden."

Princess Eleanor was silent as she stared at Nia, "Is everyone called by the Crown Prince."

Nia nodded her head. "We were informed that the Crown Prince wants to talk with everyone. So all the Princesses are requested to come for brunch."

Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked down at her leg wrapped in bandages. "Let’s get ready then, we cannot let the Crown Prince be disappointed."
