Chapter 80: Prosperous

"What is the meaning of this?"

"Does the Emperor want to send them to the Palace but does not want to have bad terms with the temple as well?"

"It should be, how can the Princesses be in God’s care?"

Priest Erasmus smiled as he looked up at the man who had given the order. He understood what the Emperor was trying to do. He wanted to not create any differences between the temple and the Royal family. The man was old but he understood the power the temple held over people.

"We will listen to Your Majesty, the Emperor," Priest Erasum bowed his head to the Emperor before he turned around to address the other nobles in the room, "We will try to bless the Princesses as much as we can. Let us all hope that God will shop us the way to the chosen one,"

Priest Erasmus raised his hand as everyone prayed to God. They are eagerly waiting for the new Crown Princess to be crowned.

Everyone’s eyes looked at the Crown Princess who was staring at Duke Beaumont as if they were having some silent discussion but soon Crown Prince Richard looked up as he prayed to God as well. He said in a small voice, "Let’s pray we all get the Crown Princess soon,"

Everyone listened to his words with enthusiasm. They were all looking forward to seeing their new Crown princess.

—---

"Is there any reason why the Crown Prince had called me here?" Duke Beaumont said as he sat in front of him.

They were in the temple’s side building. A place where the Princesses stayed on one side while the Royal’s and noble stayed on the other.

Duke Beaumont looked at the Crown Prince with a smile on his face but his expression said something else. He was curious to know what was happening. He could not understand the situation clearly but he knew that Prince Richard might have something interesting to say,

"The temple is getting prosperous." The Crown Prince smiled as he looked at his cousin. His eyes were sharp as he tapped his finger on the table rhythmically as if he was trying to understand something, "Do you think the temple is getting more powerful?"

"The power of the temple depends on the belief of the people and the donations in the name of God. I do not understand what does the Crown Prince mean by prosperous? The temple had always been prosperous."

"You should call me Prince Richard, rather than Crown Prince. We are both cousins. And to be honest there is no one around and I don’t really mind." Crown Prince Richard said with a smile.

Duke Beaumont was silent but he soon agreed. He knew that there must be some reason for the Crown Prince to say something. the Crown Prince wanted to show that they were close, but to whom?

"Then Prince Richard should also call me Duke Christopher." Duke Beaumont said with a smile.

"So we are not yet on a first name basis?" The Crown Prince smiled as he leaned back. His eyes were staring at the man in question, "Are you curious why I called you here?"

Duke Beaumont nodded his head as he looked at the crown Prince. He knew that the reason would be related to the Princesses but the Grand Duke wanted to know.

"Why is my brother so caring about a Princess? Do you think that I do not understand such a behavior?" Prince Richard said, "Why would the Grand Duke take responsibility? And don’t tell me it is because of you knight. I don’t take those words seriously. You and I both know that if the Grand Duke does not want, no one can force him into anything. ANd responsibilities towards an unknown Princess mean nothing to you. So why?"

"It is true that I do not care about such things but what I care about is to repay. The Princess had helped my knight. She was injured because she was trying to stop the attacker. My knight had informed me how sad the Princess was when she thought that she would have a permanent injury on her body. So I want to repay it back to her. And I don’t want her chances to become the Crown Princess to be lessened just because of my knight’s mistake."

The Crown Prince smiled as if he could understand where the Grand Duke was coming from. "You always try to do the right thing,"

Duke Beaumont did not reply but his eyes stayed on the Crown Prince. He wanted to know what the Crown Prince wanted to say. "I always do the right thing."

The Crown Prince was silent as he got up from the chair. His eyes narrowed as he looked around the room. Duke Beaumont’s gaze followed him as he leaned back on the chair waiting for the Crown Prince to continue what he was about to say.

"I think if Duke Christopher wants to repay the debt he should. But I am getting curious." The Crown Prince walked towards the open window. His eyes looked outside into nature as he smiled.

Prince Richard was enjoying the view from his view. He could see the beautiful gardens that the temple had maintained. Their beauty was equivalent to the one that the Royal Palace had.

He moved around as he looked at the room which was hand painted by the artist. The sealing was covered with the paintings of heaven and the room itself resembled one.

The Crown Prince walked towards the table again as his eyes looked at the Grand Duke. "Duke Christopher, my cousin. I think it is time to meet all the Princesses that you have brought to the Empire."

Duke Cristopher’s eyes shook as he stayed quiet in his seat. He did not want to give any expression to the Crown Prince for him to catch hold of.

Prince Richard smiled but there was disappointment in his gaze. He could not see the expected reaction from Duke Beaumont, "I especially want to meet the Princess who managed to save your knight."
