Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Little Fangirl

"โ€™What should I do then? No, thatโ€™s not right...โ€™"

Renee Jenningsโ€™s eyes darted as a plan formed in her mind. ๐’‡๐’“๐™š๐’†๐”€๐“ฎ๐“ซ๐’๐“ธ๐™ซ๐“ฎ๐“ต.๐“ฌ๐™ค๐™ข

Naomi Kenway arrived on set for filming as usual when a giant mascot bear suddenly blocked her path. It held out its paw, seemingly offering a friendly greeting.

Naomi paused, momentarily puzzled as to why a mascot bear would be at the film studio. But the bear in front of her was utterly adorableโ€”charmingly clumsy, with a red bow on its head and blush on its cheeks.

It reminded Naomi of the teddy bear on Ianโ€™s bed, which was just as cute.

"Excuse me, please move aside. We have things to do," her assistant said, trying to get the mascot bear to leave.

"Itโ€™s fine," Naomi stopped her, a slight smile on her face. She shook the mascot bearโ€™s paw. "Hello there."

The mascot bear instantly stomped its feet in excitement, covering its face with its paws as if bashful.

Naomi couldnโ€™t help but smile.

The mascot bear handed her an exquisitely wrapped box of handmade chocolates. Inside, however, the chocolates themselves were "ugly," a stark contrast to the packaging.

The assistant whispered in Naomiโ€™s ear, "Nina, itโ€™s probably a fan."

Naomi nodded and accepted it with a smile. "Is this a gift for me? It looks like you made it yourself. Thank you."

The mascot bear covered its face bashfully again, then fumbled around behind its back and produced a box of elegant-looking pastries.

Naomi suspected the mascot bear must have a magic pocket hidden somewhere to be able to carry so many gifts.

"Thank you, my beautiful Ms. Burnes."

After accepting them, Naomi noticed the pastries were from a very famous, time-honored shop in Veridia that only accepted a limited number of pre-orders and was notoriously difficult to buy from.

Hearing Naomiโ€™s compliment, "Ms. Burnes" seemed to freeze in place.

Naomi expressed her thanks once more, then said, "Iโ€™m a bit short on time, but I look forward to seeing you again, Ms. Burnes."

She smiled, pressing her lips together. Her stunning features were like a vibrant, richly colored oil painting, every line and curve a stroke of breathtaking beauty.

"Ms. Burnes" was stunned once more.

Naomi had only taken a few steps with her assistant when a voice called out from behind her. "Wait, thereโ€™s one last thing!"

Naomi turned around. The voice was somewhat familiar.

A bouquet of vibrant, dewy roses appeared before her. "Ms. Burnes" took off the mascot head, revealing a pair of large, bright, expressive eyes.

"Iโ€™m sorry! Please forgive me!"

Clementine Colemanโ€™s voice was quite loud, and many people nearby turned to look in their direction.

"Clementine, itโ€™s you? What are you doing?"

Naomi chuckled, a little puzzled. "Why are you giving me roses?"

"Because you like roses! I found out that your favorite flower is the rose, and you have The Rose Garden at home that you tend to yourself."

"I like living roses, not dead ones."

Clementine froze, then frantically explained, "I didnโ€™t kill them!" Her hands trembled, and she almost dropped the roses.

"Easy there." Naomi reached out to help her steady the bouquet.

"So, tell me. Why are you apologizing?"

"Do you... do you remember..." Clementine began cautiously. "Do you remember Jenna Shawโ€™s engagement party? I was there."

Naomi thought for a moment, her expression unchanging. "I remember."

Clementine let out a sigh of relief, but her expression turned even more distressed the next second. "I was tricked! My mom told me he was getting remarried. I didnโ€™t know he wasnโ€™t divorced, or that he had anything to do with you..."

Her lower lip quivered, and it looked like she was about to burst into tears.

"So you came to apologize for that?"

Clementine nodded earnestly. "Partly for that, and partly for misunderstanding you before. Itโ€™s all my fault. I was blind and couldnโ€™t tell the good guys from the bad. Can... can you forgive me?"

She blinked, her face full of sincerity.

Naomi said, "I forgive you."

"That quickly?" Clementine was both surprised and found it a little hard to believe.

"You just explained yourself, didnโ€™t you? Besides, from what I know of you, you donโ€™t seem like the kind of person who would do something like that."

Naomiโ€™s trust left Clementine both stunned and overjoyed. She had half a mind to rush over and pull her into a giant bear hug.

"So, uh, what about these roses?"

"Are you sure you want to give them to me?" Naomi teased. "Paparazzi lurk around here sometimes. What if someone snaps a photo and starts a scandal about the two of us?"

"Huh?"

โ€™Thereโ€™s a wonderful perk like that?โ€™

Clementineโ€™s eyes curved into crescents. She flexed an arm as if showing off her muscles. "An upright person doesnโ€™t fear a crooked shadow! Besides, it would be my honor to be in a scandal with a beautiful woman like you!"

Naomi laughed at her comical gesture. "In that case, Iโ€™ll accept them. Thank you for the gifts."

Held before the stunning woman, the vibrant roses seemed to become invisible. Clementineโ€™s eyes could only see that exquisite, beautiful face, and nothing else mattered.

When Renee Jennings came to visit the set recently, she couldnโ€™t find a trace of Clementine Coleman. Only after asking Clementineโ€™s assistant did she learn that Clementine had turned into Naomi Kenwayโ€™s number one fangirl, following her around all day like a little shadow.

Displeased, she decided to wait for Clementine to return to her trailer.

Half an hour later, the sound of cheerful footsteps approached.

They were bouncing and skipping, like those of a little kid. Renee Jennings immediately knew it was Clementine.

Clementine paused when she saw Renee Jennings. "Rachel, what are you doing here?"

"Clementine, we agreed a while ago to go to the Warren Familyโ€™s banquet together. The weather tomorrow should be nice. How about we go shopping for some clothes and jewelry?"

Clementine scratched her head apologetically. "Ah, Iโ€™m a bit busy these days. Iโ€™ll have to break our promise this time. Iโ€™ll treat you to dinner another day to make it up to you. As for the banquet, Rachel, you should just go on your own."

Renee Jenningsโ€™s expression stiffened, but she kept her voice gentle. "Why? Didnโ€™t we already agree? Iโ€™ll be really lonely without you."

Clementine felt extremely guilty, but she still explained, "Iโ€™m so sorry, Rachel. Itโ€™s just that the gorgeous Nia has been teaching me how to act lately, so Iโ€™m really, really busy."

Renee Jennings lowered her gaze, hiding the coldness in her eyes. When she looked up again, her usual smile had returned. "Well, for an actor, filming is whatโ€™s most important. Itโ€™s okay, Clementine. I understand."

Then she sighed. "Itโ€™s a real shame, though. I was planning on having you come home with me after the banquet so I could give you that signed photo of WK. But I guess not. We can talk about it after youโ€™re not so busy. Itโ€™s just, Iโ€™m going to be pretty busy myself in a couple of days, probably buried in that variety show... Oh well. Your work is whatโ€™s most important..."

As she spoke, Renee Jennings stood up, giving Clementine a small smile as she prepared to leave.

"Wait, wait, wait!"

Clementine scrambled after her out of the trailer. "Wait a second, Rachel!" she called, grabbing Renee Jenningsโ€™s arm.

"You already got the signed photo for me? How were you so fast?!"

"Are you saying you donโ€™t trust me?"
