Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Renee Jennings, How Could You Sleep?

Renee Jennings looked extremely weak, her arm hanging straight down, not daring to move it in the slightest.

"I’ve come down with a strange illness. My arm started itching terribly yesterday, and it only got a little better this morning."

She said this with a slight frown, her sickly appearance quite pitiable.

Chelsea Raines’s attention was entirely on the "strange illness" Renee Jennings had mentioned. She subconsciously took a step back, pulling Jared Woods with her, and said with a dry laugh, "I hope you can get well soon, Rachel."

Renee Jennings glanced into the distance. Seeing that the other three guests hadn’t made any move to check on her, she couldn’t help but feel a little displeased.

’We’re all on the same show, after all. A little compassion wouldn’t kill them!’

After a moment’s thought, she walked toward Naomi Kenway and the others, speaking as if it were a casual remark. "How did everyone sleep last night? I was tossing and turning for over an hour before I could fall asleep. It was all because this arm was just so itchy! So many doctors, and none of them can figure out what’s wrong."

Ruby Preston didn’t react, looking completely aloof.

Margaret Jennings was soft-hearted, but the impression Renee Jennings had left on her yesterday was truly terrible. For now, she didn’t want to deal with her.

Feeling pointedly ignored, Renee Jennings felt a flicker of annoyance.

A languid voice cut in, dripping with sarcasm. "You actually managed to sleep? Renee Jennings, how could you possibly sleep? I was so worried about my son I didn’t sleep a wink all night, yet you were sleeping soundly. After doing something so shameless, you don’t feel any guilt at all? Do you think kids just deserve to be lectured and disciplined by you? While you get to run wild? No, that’s wrong. Someone as immoral as you is incapable of guilt."

A sharp glint flashed in Naomi Kenway’s eyes. Ian, playing his part perfectly, leaned quietly against Naomi, looking as if he didn’t want to interact with anyone.

Renee Jennings froze for a second, not expecting Naomi Kenway to bring up the past.

’Ever since Naomi Kenway got in the car yesterday, I knew this was all deliberate. It was an act orchestrated by Naomi Kenway and Ian Shaw!’ Renee Jennings was so furious she could have breathed fire, yet she had no way to refute it. Everyone had already branded her the "abuser." They all completely believed Naomi Kenway and Ian Shaw’s performance and story. To question it now would be asking for a verbal beating.

Renee Jennings gritted her teeth in anger but still tried to soften her voice, offering a deeply aggrieved apology. "I’m so sorry, Nina. I never thought something like this would happen. Nobody wants this sort of thing to happen. I can understand how you feel, but..."

Naomi Kenway cut her off impatiently. "Stop pretending. Everyone knows we have a terrible relationship. You did it on purpose yesterday, didn’t you? Just to get back at me by using my son, the person I care about most?"

Suddenly accused of something so serious, Renee Jennings said frantically, "I didn’t! Nina, please don’t think of me that way. Ian and I have no beef. Why would I intentionally harm him? Besides..." She lowered her head slightly. "That incident was so long ago. I hope you can put those unpleasant memories behind you, Nina."

"Are you saying I’m making a big deal out of nothing and can’t let go of what happened yesterday?"

"No..." Renee Jennings’s brow furrowed. For a moment, she didn’t know how to respond. In the end, she gave up, no longer hoping for anyone’s concern, and retreated to the side with a dejected look.

After shutting down Renee Jennings, Naomi Kenway felt a sense of satisfaction. She pointed at Renee and said, "Director, send Renee Jennings home. Don’t let her stay here."

Renee Jennings was shocked. She took two steps forward in a panic. "On what grounds? Nina, do you really think you own this show? Kicking me out so brazenly?!"

Naomi Kenway looked at her with contempt. "I’m not as malicious as you. Just because you use your special privileges, you think everyone else does too?"

"You..."

Naomi Kenway continued, "Renee Jennings herself said she has a strange illness that doctors can’t diagnose. No one knows if it’s contagious. My recommendation is that she leave here immediately. Mona can’t stay by her side either. It’s simply not safe."

Naomi Kenway stared at Renee Jennings and taunted, "Coming here to endanger us all while having such a serious, strange illness... or are you just trying to paint yourself as a tragic hero again? Insisting on filming despite your condition. You don’t actually think you’re being noble, do you?"

Renee Jennings was so angry her chest heaved. A sharp, prickly itch suddenly flared up on her arm again, as if it were relapsing. Her footing became unsteady, and she nearly fell.

This time, no one dared to step forward and help her. Chelsea Raines was so scared she backed away three steps.

Of course, Renee Jennings didn’t want to leave. She had forced herself to come here to get more screen time and boost her popularity on this hit variety show. But now, Naomi Kenway was ruining everything...

She tried to explain, "It won’t, it’s not contagious!"

Naomi Kenway couldn’t help but let out a laugh. "What, you’ve managed to diagnose the strange illness that even doctors couldn’t figure out?"

Renee Jennings clenched her fists tightly. She wanted to kill someone.

After careful consideration, the director spoke up. "Ms. Kenway has a point. In my opinion, we should arrange for a helicopter to take Rachel back to Veridia first. The medical facilities there are better. I’m sure they’ll be able to cure Rachel."

"No," Naomi Kenway said. "If Renee Jennings’s strange illness really is contagious, it would be terrible if she infected the crew members around her. Besides, who knows how many people she’d encounter on the way to Veridia. I think we should quarantine her for a few days first. House No. 5 is in a remote location that few people go to. Let’s just have her quarantine there."

"Naomi Kenway!" Renee Jennings’s eyes filled with hatred as she started walking toward her. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Just the thought of that dim, terrifying red door made her feel like she was suffocating, let alone having to stay inside for several days. The itching on her arm was tormenting her, and she couldn’t think straight.

Before she could get close to Naomi Kenway, she was stopped by crew members wearing gloves. Someone forced a mask onto her face.

Naomi Kenway said coolly, "You see? She’s not even in her right mind anymore. Hurry up and take her to quarantine."

The director, treating the situation like a hot potato, quickly ordered the staff to put Renee Jennings in a car and take her to House No. 5 to be quarantined for two days.

Renee Jennings struggled to no avail and was forced into the car.

"Then what about Mona...?" Chelsea Raines still looked panicked.

"Mona should be fine," the director said. "Last night, when Rachel wasn’t feeling well, Mona slept in a tent in the courtyard with the rest of us."

Chelsea Raines relaxed a little and muttered, "How could her arm suddenly start itching like that? And they can’t even find the cause..."

Naomi Kenway said, "It’s probably payback for all her evil deeds."

[You can always count on Nina to be thorough. There really is a risk of it being contagious. I hope Renee Jennings gets well soon. Her illness is really scary. Let’s hope it’s not catching.]

[No way. Renee Jennings is just playing the victim. This serves her right. Isn’t she terrified of House No. 5?]

[This strange illness came out of nowhere. Maybe it really is payback for all the bad things Renee Jennings has done. Goes to show you should be a good person in everything you do.]

[What nonsense is the person above spouting? Our Rachel does so much charity work and good deeds. How could she get sick from doing too many bad things?]
