The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 211: Renee Jennings Ruined the Child’s Life
Naomi Kenway’s heart tightened when she heard Ian’s cries. But when she looked down and met his eyes, his big, beautiful, dark eyes held no trace of tears—only a sly glimmer.
Naomi felt a bit relieved and decided to play along with Ian to see this act through. She gently patted Ian’s back to comfort him, her gaze sweeping over Renee Jennings. "Sweetheart, we can’t get upset over some petty people with poor character. Don’t cry, Ian. Mommy’s heart aches when you cry..."
Ian Shaw’s sobs grew louder. "Ian was misunderstood. Will no one want to play with Ian anymore...?"
Carina Sanders ran over from her seat and stood beside him, comforting him. "Of course not, little brother Ian! Don’t cry. The person who framed you should be the one crying, not you!" As she spoke, she shot Renee Jennings a glance, her eyes filled with resentment.
Margaret Jennings came over and offered a handkerchief. "Oh my goodness, Ian’s crying his little eyes out. Quick, wipe them away. Our Ian was falsely accused. Look how upset it’s made him..."
A crowd of people gathered around Ian Shaw, cooing softly at him, the principal and the dean included. But Ian was inconsolable. He remained buried in Naomi Kenway’s arms, sniffling quietly, his small hand gently wiping away the teardrops at the corner of his eyes. He looked utterly pitiful.
Renee Jennings, who had been about to step out the door, found her feet rooted to the spot. The accusatory gazes from everyone around her felt like needles pricking at her skin.
She turned around stiffly and took a few steps forward. Just as she was about to touch Ian Shaw’s arm, Naomi Kenway shifted, blocking her. "Don’t touch my son," she said coldly. "Isn’t he crying hard enough for you? What new scheme have you cooked up to slander us mother and son this time?"
The moment Naomi Kenway finished speaking, Ian’s crying immediately grew louder.
Renee Jennings clasped her hands, lowered her head slightly, and put on a pitiful act. "I... Nina, I didn’t realize Ian was so sensitive. I’m very sorry. But my intentions were good from the start. I just didn’t want Ian to develop a bad habit of cheating."
"My child is sensitive? Why don’t you say your actions were too extreme? Can’t you see how hard my son is crying? He’s so young. Who’s going to fix the psychological damage you’ve caused him?"
"I already apologized..."
"And you think a single, half-hearted apology is enough?"
Ian Shaw, his voice choked with sobs, said, "Mrs. Jennings framed me. Now I’m scared just looking at test papers. I don’t ever want to touch a test paper again! Mommy, I’m so scared..." As he spoke, he shrank back into Naomi Kenway’s embrace.
Ian was naturally blessed with good looks. No one could bear to see such a cherubic, doll-like little boy cry.
Carina Sanders couldn’t help but exclaim, "Aunt Jennings, you’ve gone too far! You scared little brother Ian!"
’She was just acting all calm, and now that I’ve apologized, she’s pulling this stunt?’
Renee Jennings had a gut feeling this was a setup. She even suspected it was a deliberate trap laid by Naomi Kenway, but she had no way to explain herself. The accusation had stuck, and nothing she said could clear her name.
The crowd’s attempts to soothe him were useless, and so were Renee Jennings’s various apologies. Eventually, Ian cried himself to sleep. His cheek was still pressed into Naomi Kenway’s chest, revealing only one soft, pale half of his face, his thick eyelashes resting on his eyelids.
Now, the gazes Renee Jennings received were even more reproachful and resentful. She hung her head low, biting her lip, in an utterly foul mood.
Mr. Holloway said earnestly, "I’m afraid this has left the child with a significant psychological scar. Children are psychologically fragile; you can’t compare them to adults. In the future, you must think before you speak. You may have gotten some satisfaction from speaking your mind, but you’ve caused someone else immense suffering. Perhaps your intentions were good, but the doubt and pain Ian has endured are very real..."
The principal nodded repeatedly, expressing his agreement. As educators, they cherished their students, and in their eyes, Renee Jennings’s series of actions were practically unforgivable.
Renee Jennings could only nod repeatedly as she listened to the lectures from those around her, feeling utterly aggrieved.
The principal looked at Naomi Kenway. "Ms. Kenway, you see..."
He had just been tasked with mediating between the guests; after all, the production team needed the guests to get along harmoniously.
Naomi Kenway didn’t even glance at Renee Jennings. "I don’t have the right to choose forgiveness on my son’s behalf. And, of course, as a mother, I won’t forgive her either, because she has caused my son a great deal of harm."
With that, Naomi Kenway carried Ian Shaw and walked out.
Left standing there, Renee Jennings’s expression was absolutely ghastly.
There were temporary dorms for the teaching staff on site. Teacher Sanders led Naomi and her son to her room. She said softly, "It’s too noisy outside. This is my faculty dorm. Let Ian sleep here for a while."
Her voice was full of sympathy. "He’s only a four-year-old child. The stress he’s been under today is just too much. When he wakes up, Ms. Kenway, please comfort him. We can’t let our lives be ruined by other people’s mistakes."
Naomi Kenway nodded her thanks.
"It’s no trouble. I just hope Ian can recover quickly." With that, she sighed. Her heart truly ached for him. She had always cherished talented individuals, and if Ian really started to despise test papers because of Renee Jennings...
Teacher Sanders was good-natured and heavyset, but this was the first time she had ever found someone so utterly detestable.
"Ms. Kenway, I won’t disturb you any longer."
With that, she tiptoed out and gently closed the door behind her.
Facing so many cameras, Naomi Kenway was in no mood to deal with them. "Could you stop filming for a moment? I’d like to be alone with Ian for a while."
Given the special circumstances, the director agreed.
[Renee Jennings is the absolute worst! She practically traumatized the kid into silence! Ian was already a bit withdrawn when he first joined the show. He was finally starting to open up after so many episodes, and now Renee has gone and made him depressed again!]
[How does Renee Jennings always manage to mess things up with good intentions? Or are her intentions just plain bad to begin with?]
[Oh, what a tragedy. She’s ruined this child’s future. Ian is only four! If he develops a genuine fear of tests, then getting into better schools, taking college entrance exams, or even civil service exams will be incredibly difficult for him! Such a good kid!]
[Hope Ian gets better soon. Don’t let a pest like her ruin your mood!]
[Naomi Kenway’s hardcore fans are being way too harsh. Is it really necessary? Rachel was just trying to correct Ian Shaw at first. Who knew he was so fragile? Nobody wanted this outcome, and Rachel must feel terrible about it too. Everyone, stop flaming her!]
[Is the person above one of Renee Jennings’s paid trolls? How can you even defend that?]
...
After all the cameramen had left, Ian Shaw’s big, round eyes popped open. He did a perfect kip-up to sit straight up in bed and whispered to Naomi Kenway, fishing for praise, "Mommy, how did Ian do just now?"
