The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 202: Ian is Proficient in French
[You really want your kid to be smart. If they’re this dumb, it’ll be hard for them to even take care of you when you’re old. I think a smart kid like Nathan is great, but he’s been a little disobedient lately. In that case, Sean is probably the best. Smart and sensible, just a bit quiet!]
[Seriously, what’s wrong with you people? Are you really sitting here picking them apart? They’re all such cute kids, do you have to tear them down like they’re worthless? Does being good at school mean you have value? Naomi Kenway herself hasn’t said anything, so what are you all so worked up about?!]
[I bet Naomi Kenway is worried. She has to maintain her persona for the show, but she’s probably crying in private! Anyone would be anxious with a kid like that!]
...
Ian was still in kindergarten, so the first-grade curriculum was a difficult adjustment for him. Naomi Kenway held Ian’s hand, her heart filled with worry.
Ian seemed to sense Naomi Kenway’s anxiety. He didn’t want his mother to worry because of him. "Don’t worry, Mom," he said, his young voice crisp and clear. "Ian will be fine!"
Naomi Kenway squeezed his hand a little tighter. "Okay. Mommy believes in you."
She watched her son follow the other young guests toward the classroom until he was out of sight, only then did Naomi Kenway look away.
Chelsea Raines scoffed. "Even on a variety show, she can’t forget to act."
Naomi Kenway glanced in her direction, only to see that Chelsea wasn’t looking at her, seeming to be muttering to herself.
Naomi Kenway turned her head away and let out a soft chuckle.
"If you’re that bored, why don’t you just go die, you stupid gossip."
Chelsea Raines whipped her head around, her eyebrows shooting up. "Naomi Kenway, are you cursing at me?"
Naomi Kenway gave her a look of feigned confusion. "This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone beg to be insulted. Are you a masochist?"
Chelsea Raines snorted coldly and said nothing more.
Naomi Kenway went forward with the other guests. The selection method was the same as before: drawing slips of paper from a basket.
Naomi Kenway casually drew a slip. After opening it, she saw the words "First Grade." She subconsciously let out a sigh of relief. This way, she could be closer to her son. Although Ian wasn’t as withdrawn as he used to be, Naomi Kenway still hoped to stay by his side.
*
It was the children’s first time at this school, and finding their classroom took a considerable amount of time. As the oldest, Simon Sawyer led the way, looking after the younger kids. After asking a teacher for directions, they confirmed the general location.
Suddenly, an anxious man walked over. He was blond with blue eyes, clearly a foreigner, and was frantically making hand gestures.
The children looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
Carina Sanders said, "Is he asking for directions? What is he saying? I don’t understand."
The foreigner gestured energetically again, speaking nonstop. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"He’s talking so fast, it’s giving me a headache," Jared Woods said, clutching his head. He poked Nathan Lynch, who was next to him. "Nathan, my mom says you’re really smart. Go talk to this foreigner. He’s blocking our way."
Nathan Lynch seemed to be in a good mood, and his tone with Jared Woods was relatively mild. He said, "I can’t understand him either. The only foreign language I’m fluent in is English. I’m just average at the others."
"Oh..." Jared Woods sighed. "So you’re not that amazing after all."
Nathan Lynch was instantly annoyed. "I’m not a god! I’m just a kid, isn’t it normal that I don’t understand?! Why are you always picking on me? Can you understand him?"
"I..." Jared Woods pouted but couldn’t say a word.
As the oldest, Simon Sawyer naturally carried the highest expectations, but he didn’t know how to handle the situation either. Just as he was about to try speaking English, he heard a young voice from the side. The fluent, standard French was absolutely jaw-dropping.
Everyone turned toward the source of the voice. No one could have imagined it came from Ian Shaw. He looked completely calm, communicating with the man naturally. There was a hint of boredom in his expression, as if he didn’t want to waste any more time with his companions.
The foreigner was thrilled and quickly replied. After just a few sentences, the foreigner bowed and expressed his thanks.
"Vesla!" a young male teacher called out as he walked over. He exchanged a few words with the foreigner, then turned to the children. "This is Mr. Vesla, a new foreign teacher who has come to volunteer at our school. He’s from Galia and usually speaks French. His Chinese isn’t very good. I just reminded him that he needs to speak English."
The male teacher smiled again, looking at Ian Shaw. "Were you the one who gave Mr. Vesla directions just now? What an amazing kid!"
He grew more and more surprised as he spoke, patting Ian’s head. "You look like you’re only four or five, right? You can speak French at such a young age?"
Ian didn’t pull away, only saying nonchalantly, "We have private tutors at home who teach these things."
The male teacher nodded repeatedly. "You must be one of the guests here for the task, right? You’re really amazing. You’ll definitely have an incredible future!"
Ian said, "Thank you for the compliment, sir."
The children didn’t snap out of it until the director reminded them to continue on to the classroom. They couldn’t believe that Ian Shaw—who usually seemed so dull and reserved, with such poor grades—could speak French so well.
Carina Sanders praised him, "Little Ian is so amazing! He’s really the smartest kid in the world!"
Simon Sawyer also praised him several times.
Nathan Lynch was also surprised, looking at Ian Shaw with a bit of admiration, though his expression was somewhat dazed. "Yeah, he’s amazing!"
Jared Woods crowded around Ian, chattering nonstop:
"Ian, is your dad from Galia?"
"No."
"Then is your mom from Galia?"
"No."
"Then is your grandpa from Galia?"
Ian Shaw looked at him, a hint of impatience in his eyes. "None of them are. I learned it myself."
"Impossible!" Jared Woods frowned. "How is that possible? It just sounds impossible..."
Carina Sanders snorted. "What’s so impossible about it? Little Ian is so smart, isn’t it normal for him to know French? Just because you don’t understand it, you won’t allow others to?"
Jared Woods’s face flushed red as he retorted, "I didn’t say that!"
"But that’s what you meant, isn’t it?"
"I did not!"
Seeing the two of them arguing, Simon Sawyer stepped between them as usual and began to mediate.
[Oh my god, Ian can speak French, and so fluently too! Who was it that said our Ian was a dumb kid?]
[To all those people who called Ian dumb, don’t you feel stupid now? Or can you all speak French? You bugs who can only get a sense of superiority on the internet!]
[Ian’s expression just now was hilarious, hahaha. I feel like he only spoke up because he couldn’t stand it anymore.]
[Such a smart kid! A little genius from day one!! (Thumbs up) (Thumbs up)]
