the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 834: No Mistress, Only You
Ignatius Leclair emerged from his bath, only to see her staring blankly at her own phone. Her frame was delicate and thin, often making him hesitant to exert too much force, fearing that he might accidentally break the fragile person in his arms.
When Delphine saw a photo of herself on his phone, her emotions were complicated. Seeing him step out in a bathrobe, she held her patience and said, "We need to talk."
For the sake of the photo, she was prepared to reason with him once more.
The handsome man’s almond-shaped eyes deepened slightly. He responded calmly and walked over to sit beside her at the foot of the bed. His long fingers swiftly slid across his phone and put it away. His photo album was filled entirely with her pictures, including various candid shots and even stills from her movies.
He was determined not to confess his obsession with Delphine until he was certain of her feelings.
The man spoke in a deep voice, "If this is about divorce, then there’s nothing to discuss."
"So, you plan to enjoy the best of both worlds, with a stable home and a string of affairs outside?" Delphine scoffed, her voice soft and weak, slightly diminishing her momentum.
Ignatius’s almond-shaped eyes deepened again, and with rare explanation, he said, "There is no other woman, only you."
Ignatius felt that women were overly sensitive. Emily Thorne, who was not the least bit aggressive, was viewed as an imagined rival. Although this matter caused some trouble, there was a strange sweetness to it in Ignatius’s heart.
"Are you jealous?" Ignatius grinned with pleasure, reaching out to embrace her slender waist, feeling the smoothness of her skin, his thoughts wandering.
"No, I have a cleanliness obsession." Delphine scoffed, pushing him away, thinking that no woman could tolerate another woman near her partner’s pillow, regardless of love or hate, driven by the obsession.
"Then I will send Emily away." The man conceded a step. Emily knew quite a bit about him, making it a bit tricky to handle, but since Delphine was unhappy, he should deal with it.
"Let’s not talk about Emily. Don’t you think many of your actions are pathological, incurable? Always self-centered, forcing me to do things I dislike, keeping me in this remote wilderness, and denying me from seeing our two children. Are you planning to hold me captive for life?" Delphine wanted to address all the issues at once.
The man’s gaze lingered on her thin lips. When she was emotional or happy, her thin lips slightly parted, and he could see a pink tongue tip, irresistibly cute.
"We’re on vacation. Once your health improves, we’ll go back."
Delphine felt like they were having a conversation akin to chickens talking to ducks.
"Ignatius, didn’t you always dislike me? Why not set each other free?"
The man’s eyes paused, and a change flickered within them. Over the years, there was only one woman in his heart. However, stubborn as he was, he never voiced it. Speaking it aloud seemed to let her grasp his greatest vulnerability, potentially using it to boss him around or even threaten to leave.
Ignatius disliked the feeling of losing control. She was his woman. He could pamper her to no end but never speak of love—that was his final line of self-defense.
He loved her but couldn’t lightly express it.
"I don’t dislike you. You’re the mother of my two children, and I can’t get used to another woman." Ignatius said in a low, sexy voice, his almond-shaped eyes slightly deepening. These were the most affectionate words he could muster.
"Sorry, I can’t get used to the enigmatic Master Leclair." Delphine responded coldly. There was an inequality and lack of trust between them, or rather, she truly lacked a sense of trust in this man.
