Chapter 1030: Chapter 1030: You Like Me, Want to Marry Me?

Drake Howard noticed something was off in his expression and squinted, asking, "Did your grandmother insist you marry her?"

Richard Shaw said nothing and continued to take a sip of the spicy Erguotou liquor.

"Will the wedding still happen?" Drake Howard felt a sudden jolt inside; the situation with the Shaw Family was different from the Howard Family. They only needed a clear family background and mutual feelings to find a spouse, but the Shaw Family was different. Such a prestigious family had only the grandmother left to depend on, and Richard Shaw often prioritized filial duty.

If the grandmother insisted Richard Shaw marry Crystal Landon, he could only comply.

"Not for now," Richard Shaw said in a deep voice and took another sip of Erguotou.

Drake Howard patted his shoulder, saying, "Crystal may be a bit of a little punk now, but she’s young, and no one guides her. Maybe after marriage, your feelings will get better."

Richard Shaw, with a cold face, used Erguotou to stuff his mouth, drinking late into the night.

Drake Howard drank too much, and eventually, he was crying messily leaning over the basketball pole, talking about his doomed first love. Richard Shaw’s head was also fuzzy from drinking, and he suddenly remembered the years spent in the Southwest Military Zone, the serene, chrysanthemum-like figure he once wanted to care for and bring to the Imperial City. Because of her family’s background, he had never told his grandmother. Now, as he was about to marry, he could only bury this love deep in his heart.

Richard Shaw finished all the liquor. After brief indulgence, he got up and tidied up his clothes, returning to his usual indomitable, iron-blooded Major General self.

The man reached over to lift Drake Howard from the ground, patted his face, and said, "Go home and get some sleep."

Drake Howard hugged his leg, snot and tears flowing, saying, "I’m heartbroken."

Richard Shaw furrowed his brow, tempted to throw him outside the wall. Drake Howard still had the chance to pursue true love; he, soon to be married and likely never to experience true love in his lifetime, wasn’t expressing his heartbreak—wasn’t this asking for trouble?

Richard Shaw called Augustus Howard to come pick him up before he returned to the Shaw Mansion.

The man returned to the Shaw Mansion; it was already deep into the night. He entered his room, took out the key to his private safe, and then went to knock on Crystal Landon’s door.

Crystal Landon had some insomnia at night, unable to sleep well. The happenings of the past few days felt like a dream. Hearing the knock, she got up to open the door and saw the man standing at the entrance.

The man was tall and imposing, with a handsome face and a stern demeanor, carrying a faint scent of alcohol.

"Can I come in to talk?" Richard Shaw asked in a deep voice.

Crystal Landon nodded, allowing him to enter and closed the door.

Richard Shaw entered the room, looking at the pink decor. His deep, slightly brown eyes gazed at Crystal Landon as he calmly asked, "Do you like me and want to marry me?"

Crystal Landon was stunned by his question. After the grandmother rested, Richard Shaw had gone out and returned with a smell of alcohol. Sensing something was wrong and with him suddenly asking such a question, she was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.

She had always liked him because he was the most honest and introverted man she had met who never paid her any real attention. Many people disliked her personality, but none could resist her looks. Richard Shaw was the only one who felt indifferent to her face.

Crystal Landon thought such a person was suitable to be a husband, as those flashy slutty people wouldn’t be able to entice him.

She nodded, her beautiful black eyes looking at the man who stood a head taller than her. Actually, she didn’t know what she liked about him, but she just wanted to follow his silhouette, feeling a sense of security.
