Chapter 1029: Chapter 1029: Getting the Marriage Certificate Soon

After Richard Shaw left the room, he called Balthazar Howard to invite him out for a drink.

When Drake Howard picked up the call, he almost doubted his ears. Drink?

"Red Mill, let’s finish the drinks from last time," Drake Howard was excited after just a few seconds. Richard Shaw was about to return to the Military District soon, and time was running short, so they had to live it up quickly. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Go to the school playground." Richard Shaw lowered his eyes and said indifferently, changing the meeting place to their middle school playground, "Remember to bring a lot of booze."

Men used to military life preferred living with the sky as their roof and the ground as their bed. Even when drinking, they sought a place with an open view.

By the time they drove to the middle school playground, the sky was starting to darken, and the school gates were tightly shut. Richard Shaw effortlessly climbed over the wall, sat on the basketball court, and waited for Drake Howard to bring the booze over.

Drake Howard drove to their old school, bought a few bottles of Erguotou from the supermarket behind the school, and also got a case of beer. He moved them to the back of the playground and shouted, "Come help me move the drinks, they’re heavy as hell."

Richard Shaw came over, grabbed a case of beer, and easily carried it to the basketball court, sitting down on the ground. When he saw Drake Howard holding Erguotou, his face turned a bit dark.

"This liquor is strong enough for you to enjoy," Drake Howard had bought out all the Erguotou from the small supermarket.

Richard Shaw didn’t complain and just opened a bottle of Erguotou and took a swig.

Seeing him like this, as if something was on his mind, Drake Howard didn’t press further and clinked bottles with him, drinking together.

With a bottle of Erguotou finished, they both felt a bit exhilarated.

"What’s going on, are you troubled by little Crystal Landon?" Drake Howard thought of nothing else but the Landon family’s affairs these days. He couldn’t help but put his arm around Richard Shaw’s shoulder and joked, "I think this girl is great. She’s beautiful, only eighteen. In a couple of years, what guy wouldn’t be captivated by her looks? Her personality is nice too, a bit flamboyant, but you can handle it."

Drake Howard chuckled and said, "Anyway, your grandma’s not usually wrong. Just marry her."

Richard Shaw nodded as he mentioned Crystal Landon, and in a low, indifferent tone, he said, "We’re about to get the marriage certificate."

The bottle in Drake Howard’s hand suddenly dropped onto his foot. He paused for three seconds before shouting, "Are you fucking kidding me?"

Richard Shaw smirked and continued drinking.

Drake Howard’s expression changed, and he sat down to seriously ask again, "Really?"

"Really." The man replied heavily, "After we get the certificate, I’ll return to the Military District. It’ll take about a year to be reassigned back to the Imperial City, so my grandma and my wife will rely on you to take care of them."

Drake Howard’s mouth gaped open, seeing the earnest look on his handsome and aloof face, he swore several times, saying, "If this news gets out, all the socialites in Emperor City will be heartbroken."

Both he and Augustus Howard were older than Richard Shaw, but this guy skipped grades like it was nothing, leapfrogging all the way up. Unfortunately, the two of them ended up as his classmates, and now even in getting married, he was ahead of them. It was really infuriating.

Drake Howard took another bitter sip of Erguotou, clinked bottles with him, and said, "Drink up, today’s your big day, let’s finish it all. How about I get Augustus Howard out, and we find a few good friends to celebrate for you?"

Richard Shaw shook his head, gazing with a faint loneliness at the gradually darkening horizon, and said softly, "There’s nothing to celebrate."
