The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 99: Ch : A Special Guest- Part 3
I managed to block the first hit of the mace, but the second one from the high priestess got me in my side.
Nothing was cracked, and yet, the hit managed to send me flying into the tree. The very next second, I rolled to the side instinctively as I felt the priestess trying to hit me once more.
She was giving me no time to prepare or counter as she kept on attacking me one after the other. I had no choice but to be on the defensive.
"Tsk, do you think blocking me would make me get weaker? You are not fighting one-on-one here, kid. And it’s time you learn what real despair is."
The high priestess told me, and I had seconds to dodge the blade that was thrown at me from my side.
Another monster rushed toward me and grabbed me as a third one attacked, not caring whether they would hit the monster along with me or not.
Suddenly, I realized that it was not a one-vs-one but a one-vs-many.
"Ah, this feels familiar. Looks like you are all group-jumping an innocent person like me. Would you all back off if I told you to?"
I asked the high priestess, and she just scoffed.
"You should give up now. Whatever advantage you think you have won’t help you anymore. Just accept that you are going to die and beg our lord for help. Maybe he will have pity on you and give you a chance to repent with your life."
The female told me as she charged her attack. She had no pity for her people, and her only goal was to eliminate me.
Since that was the case, there was no need for me to hold back either. It was not like I had anyone left here to protect.
"I see. If that’s the case, then let’s see what you can do. I am not afraid of you at all."
I told the female as she used her power to blast me away.
[Shield activated]
A transparent energy barrier blocked the attack around me, and a lot of monsters got caught up in the attack.
When the attack faded, the high priestess looked satisfied. But then, she felt a sudden electric touch on her cheek that made her look at the jellyfish-like thing floating near her.
Snap
The sound echoed loudly, and the high priestess had no chance to get away before a strong shock went through her body.
She managed to pull away, but the attack left her winded for a few seconds. That was enough time for me to attack her and send her flying back into a rock.
"You should never underestimate your prey, priestess. Just because I was not showing my claws up until now does not mean I don’t have them. Now, shall we get started?"
I asked the female, and the rest of the monsters around me looked shocked. But once that shock faded, they rushed toward me.
I just felt sorry for them all at this point.
"Just to warn you—I have no beef with any of you. The only thing I want to do is get out of here alive with my companions. So why don’t you get out of the way?"
I asked respectfully... right before my familiar exploded all around them.
The monsters were flung back, and many died in the explosion. It was total chaos.
"Y-You... how dare you come here and... do this to... us? Our lord... will not take... this... humiliation...!"
The high priestess seemed to be losing her mind over what happened. I could see her anger and her disappointment on her face.
"But isn’t this your fault? I told you that all I wanted was to grab my companion and head back. You were the one who stopped me, right?"
I asked her, not that it helped in any way. The high priestess had lost her mind.
"Why you...? Why does our lord have to bestow his favor upon you? I won’t accept it. I will..."
The high priestess tried to activate her array to get more power from their lord, but for some reason, their lord did not respond to her.
She, along with the rest of the monsters, looked taken aback.
Even I felt surprised as the light shining on the high priestess suddenly faded away as soon as she chose me as her attack target once more.
"M-My Lord... what are you... Why have you decided to abandon us?"
The female asked as she used her remaining power to make those pheromone flowers bloom around us all.
I knew what these flowers could do, and my pheromones immediately formed a barrier around me to neutralize that scent.
The monsters around me got even more powerful and aggressive, but I refused to succumb to that scent.
"If your lord won’t help me, then I will help myself. There is no resisting his power—"
One of my smaller familiars exploded near her face, and the priestess looked shaken.
"Why—? Why can you still move? Why can you still function properly when I...."
Suddenly, the priestess’s eyes widened, and she gave me a startled look.
"Wait... you are...? No way—! Why you—"
The female spoke as if she had just realized something, but I had no time for her words when I had a lot of other stuff to think about.
"It looks like I need to go now. I don’t know how much I am right about, but if I have even the slightest chance of being right, I don’t want to fight you because I will never win."
The female spoke as her body started to disappear.
"Hey, wait—"
I yelled, trying to stop her. But it was too late.
The last thing I saw was her smiling face that looked almost taunting to me. Not that I got to do much, because the monsters started to attack me and I had to focus on them instead.
"Let’s meet again... our lord’s special person."
That was the last thing I heard before the high priestess faded into nothing. The monsters around me also started to run away, and the dungeon started to fall apart.
’I wonder what would happen to the monsters left behind... not that it is any of my business. I should get going now.’
I told myself as I snapped out of my daze and quickly walked away.
For some reason, my feet hesitated to take me out, and I turned back to look at the flower-filled field that called my name. I wanted to step in it and allow the familiar scent to wash over me...
"Kyle, hurry up and get moving. Do you want to get stuck in here?... No wait... you are a human. That won’t happen to you. Still, hurry up and move. I’m risking my life for you."
Kuro grabbed my hand and snapped me out of my daze.
I blinked as I looked back, but the flower field I had walked out of was starting to fade now.
It was time for me to finally head out as well.
"We should... get out now. This dungeon is no longer safe to be in. By the way, where is Lynn?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
I asked, and Kuro gave me a reassuring look.
"He’s fine, but you don’t look fine. And I really won’t be fine if we don’t hurry up now."
