The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 98: Ch : A Special Guest- Part 2
Edward’s words were met with silence as the two alphas looked at him in shocked fury. They could not seem to believe what Edward had told them.
"Huh-! How can you even say that, hunter Edward? No matter how strong Kyle is, he’s still an omega and -"
"Also the no#1 hunter. He and his companion are also the only ones still conscious after that attack and they also helped us out. We have no ground to protest here."
Edward told the other two alphas. Unlike them, he had known me longer and he had also seen me in action.
So he had a completely different perspective regarding what I could and could not do.
For him, it likely did not matter that I was an omega he needed to protect. For him, I was a hunter who was more powerful than him and knew what to do.
"We understand that, hunter Edward. But still-"
"I know that it goes against your principles as well as your instincts as an alpha, but we need to look at this situation rationally. We are the weaker ones here, so we need to comply with Kyle."
He told the two alphas and they went quiet. They no longer had anything to say to me and they quietly took a step back.
I shot Edward a look of gratitude and then turned to look at them all.
"The exit to this dungeon is not that far away. Take Kesha and get yourself checked out as soon as you can. I will look for Lynn and take care of this dungeon somehow."
I told them all and they seemed to trust me enough to nod. Rhiner grabbed Kesha and then turned around to walk out.
But just before they exited, they all gave me one last look that seemed to be asking me to change my mind. But I had no intention of doing that.
So they all left and both Kuro and I were the only ones who could do something about this dungeon.
"Alright, let me take a look around. I am sure Lynn is somewhere in this dungeon as well. Hmm, I found him."
The system marked Lynn’s position and I pointed in that direction I could sense him in.
But weirdly enough, it seemed to be the same direction all the monsters in the dungeon seemed to be heading into.
I suddenly had a bad feeling that all the movement in this dungeon was related to Lynn and what happened to him.
"Kyle, do you think...hunter Lynn got captured by the monsters and is now being used as a sacrifice? I cannot think of anything else that could prompt such a huge sacrificial ritual." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Kuro told me and I immediately felt my heart sink.
"Huh-! Surely...not...?"
I wanted to be sure, but the more I thought about it, the more sense it made in my mind.
Lynn was strong, but I had also found that there were monsters stronger than I knew in this world. It wouldn’t be weird for Lynn to have run into such a monster and be taken back...
"We need to save him before the ritual finishes. Otherwise, humanity would lose one of their strongest soldiers and he would be converted into a monster as well. People don’t survive being sacrificed to our lord often, but when they do, they usually become a high priest as well. It happened twice before..."
Kuro told me and I felt my instincts telling me to hurry up. So I quickly ran toward the clearing where the monsters were heading as well. My only goal was to save Lynn now.
"Pull your hood up. Don’t let other monsters see that you are a human."
Kuro warned me as he pulled the hood over my face. We ran toward the central clearing where the high priestess had already taken her seat at the altar.
"Everyone, today is a special day. Thanks to the grace of our lord, we are able to offer him a second sacrifice in the same day. Now, rejoice and let your cheers fill the sky and reach our lord."
The female encouraged the other monsters and they all roared. Their loud cries made my ears hurt, but their intense aura was much more dangerous as it threatened to choke me.
Kuro seemed fine but tense as the cheers became louder around us.
The high priestess let them all cheer for some time before she raised her hand and everyone went quiet.
"Now, it is time for me to bring out our intended sacrifice. The person who shall become our foothold in the new world and make our lord happy is this human."
I watched as the high priestess revealed Lynn’s unconscious form. His shirt seemed to have been taken off and various patterns marked his body.
Monsters cheered around me once more, but my attention was more on Lynn and what I could do to help him out.
"It is now time for me to start. Everyone, start the chant..."
The monsters around me started to chant and I knew I needed to do something.
I formed my familiar and let it float toward the high priestess. She noticed the familiar but seemed to have no idea what it was.
"Huh-! What is this-"
And then, the small jellyfish exploded, causing smoke to fill the area.

I used my skills to get close to Lynn and grab him. I pulled him over my shoulder and started to walk away before anything could happen.
"You fucker-"
However, the high priestess recovered quickly and her clawed hand reached out toward me to grab me.
[Barrier activated]
Her clawed hand collided with the barrier I had formed and sparks flew. I did not look behind to see whether I had managed to stop her or not.
"Kyle, give him here. I will take him out."
Kuro told me from the other side as he used some kind of skill to knock out the monsters around him.
I quickly handed Lynn over to him right before I had to counter the high priestess’s attack.
"You fucker-! Why would you do this to us-? Don’t you have our lord’s blessing? You should be helping us...not hindering us, you ungrateful person. Just who do you think you are-?"
The high priestess had lost all her cool after her ceremony had been disturbed. I did not feel much regret for what I had done. After all, it was something that was bound to happen sooner or later.
"Sorry, but I never agreed to be on your side. As for your lord’s blessing? I don’t need it either. He’s the one who bestowed it upon me without asking. I never told him to."
I told the high priestess and she looked even angrier now. I could see her canines when she growled.
"You no longer have a say in any of this. You ruined the ceremony, so you will have to make up for it by replacing the sacrifice. I will make sure we don’t fail a second time."
The threat felt real and I suddenly felt a cold shudder go down my spine.
