The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 85: Ch : Pay A Visit- Part 3
I tried not to be disappointed as I heard my uncle and aunt talk about myself. As expected, they never even bothered to remember my real name... or likely ever paid attention enough to know it.
’What was I expecting from these people anyway? They threw me away as soon as they could and raised me for their own benefit. I should not even be feeling bad about all this.’
I told myself as consolation, but my heart still ached.
No matter how much I tried to tell myself not to get affected by these people, in the end, they were my family and even I had a small hope that these people had really repented for their action.
"A-Anyway, Ace-! It’s not like we wanted to abandon you. And about your name... does that really matter? What matters is that we had you in our hearts all this time. You are precious to us."
My aunt told me with a stutter in her voice. She sounded desperate to have me believe her at all costs.
But I was not someone to be swayed by mere words. So I decided to play with her a little bit.
"Oh-! Is that so? In that case, you surely have my inheritance with you as well. And you must also have all the insurance money and other money I saved up until I went missing, right? You should give it back to me now."
I told the pair and this time, they flinched openly before my uncle gave me a scared look.
"A-About that...I’m sorry Ace. Both your aunt and I fought hard to get your inheritance but the association was too much. They left us with nothing to your name. We were not able to claim anything you left behind."
My cunning uncle told me quickly, and pinned all the blame on the association.
Anyone else other than me would have believed his words. But I was not going to fall for it.
A little probing around the system told me that while the association had managed to get the majority of my money, my family had profited quite a bit as well from the split.
Most of the money had been spent paying back loans and getting their son set up in a high position by these two.
And now they had the audacity to tell me that they had none of my money? Just how low could these two fall in my eyes.
"Oh~ is that so? So you don’t have my money? But do you both know that I have a skill that lets me know when someone is lying? It comes in handy when I have to interrogate people."
I told the pair and they went pale. I could see the sudden realization on their faces when they realized that their lie had been caught.
"A-Ace that is not... do you not believe us? We are your family. We care about you."
The pair assured me and I scoffed.
When I thought about family, Emma and Ben’s warm smile flashed across my eyes. Those two had become my family.
’What about Theo? What is he to you?’
A part of me asked but I had no answer for it. I knew I liked Theo more than family but I did not want to put a label on my feelings just yet.
"Ace-! Believe us."
The pair below me begged for me not to cause them trouble and kept insisting that they were innocent. But I had heard enough.
"My dear aunt and uncle, since you care so much about me, I am sure you will find a way to pay me back all the money that you got because of my death. Isn’t my dear cousin doing too well? It should not be hard for him to get my money back."
I told the pair before I decided I was done humoring them. It was time for me to leave.
"I am not unreasonable so I will give you a week before I come after you. I hope you give me satisfying results soon."
I told the pair and I watched as their relief-filled faces were crushed at the timer I gave them.
As the pair panicked, I left the scene. I also thought about visiting my dear cousin and giving him a warning as well, but I was not in the mood to do that.
So after a shortish walk, I returned back home (Emma and Ben’s vacation house).
"Kyle, how was your walk?"
Theo asked as he rushed toward me like a puppy. But just before he embraced me, he paused and pulled back.
A pained look crossed the alpha’s face and his hesitation made me reach out and wrap my arms around him.
"It was fun. I think I was able to relax a little."
I told Theo as I took in his scent. He was calming for me and I wanted to lean more into him.
When I pulled back, Theo’s face was completely red and he was shuffling from one foot to another in order to calm himself down.
"I-I see... I need to go back to my room because I left something there. I will see you again..."
Theo told me as he bolted for his room. I wanted to follow him, but my eyes suddenly looked down and saw a tent in Theo’s pants that was... suspicious.
And then I decided that I needed to give him some privacy.
"Kyle, you are back. Come and help me set the table up. We should have lunch now and then watch the news. Apparently, the situation with the new dungeon is getting dire now. The top guilds might need to get involved. They are saying that this might be an A-class dungeon at the least."
I stiffened at this. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The fact that this was an A-class dungeon meant that there was a chance it could turn out to be an S-class as well. And if so, then there were not a lot of hunters that would be able to take it on.
’Tsk, should I step forward and check the dungeon out as well? But then I would need to give these people an excuse about who I am and why I need to head to the dungeon. I don’t want to worry Emma or have her change how she treats me.’
People often treated Ace differently compared to Kyle. I had seen a new world ever since I pretended to be a powerless person.
And truthfully, I liked the feeling of being able to rely on someone else. This was not something I wanted to trade for.
But if the dungeon and current situation threatened me and my loved ones, then it was only right for me to get rid of the illusion and help the people out.
’I should watch around for a little more time before I react and take action. Maybe Luminous Guild and others would be able to take care of the dungeon before it gets out of hand.’
That was one of my hopes as I followed after Emma into the kitchen. But a part of me told me that my worry was not for nothing. This dungeon truly was dangerous.
