"HOW DARE YOU TRY AND STOP ME? EVERYONE, CATCH THEM FOR THE SAKE OF OUR LORD-!"

The would-be high priest ordered and all monsters ran toward us with a single purpose in their mind – to kill us and take our bodies to their lord.

"Lynn, I need you to fight away from me. It has been some time since I used my powers and I don’t know if I would be able to control them properly at the moment."

I warned the alpha and he nodded before he took his fight a little further away.

Once I was alone, I took in a deep breath and looked all around me. I was surrounded, but I did not feel nervous. Instead, I felt excited and I took out a sickle from my inventory.

The tool looked unassuming at first but then it shined and I felt my powers stir inside my body.

Slowly, the air around us started to boil over and drops of water condensed around us. The monsters did not pay attention to those balls of water and that was their mistake as strong electricity hit them head-on.

"AHHHH-"

Cries of anger and hurt rang in the air as the monsters were charred by electricity. The condensed water droplets started to form a shape and then, jellyfish-like entities were swimming all around us in the air.

A few of those jellyfish bumped into me and made a rubbing motion of affection. These were my familiars which I had not summoned for some time.

"Ah, it is nice to see you all after so long. I’m sorry that I neglected you all. But I had my reasons. Anyway, that is not what’s important, right? Shall we get to work now?"

I asked my familiars and they all let out thrilled voices.

The monsters seemed to have no idea what was going on and I gave them no time to think about what was going to happen.

"Alright, time for you all to go to sleep. I will make it gentle for you."

[Ability used: Holder of familiars. All your familiars will be formed in their raw form]

This ability of mine had such a corny name that I did not want to take a look at it. But this was one of my best abilities for taking care of the small fries that did not have much power or hopes of resisting.

The monsters were quickly taken care of on my side until only the high priest remained.

"Heh-! Do you think your little trick would work on me? Our lord has given me ways to protect myself and I shall show you-!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

The high priest told me before he used his staff to concentrate his power. The attack was hard-hitting but my familiars collected in front of me to absorb the impact.

As a result, they all lost their form and became water droplets again.

"Wow-! You have a lot of raw power. But raw power alone cannot help you win."

I told the high priest as my familiars took back their form using my mana as their source of nutrition.

As long as I did not lose my mana, I could keep summoning back my familiars.

"Tsk, you have no idea what kind of power you are up against. A messenger of our lord like me? Your arrogance knows no bounds."

The high priest told me and I used the cover of my familiars to be able to go around the monster and launch an attack.

"Hmm, you talk big for someone who cannot handle me. Also, you are not the first high priest I fought and won against, so I am not afraid of your threats."

I told the monster and I watched him flinch in shock.

"W-What do you...no-! You can’t be-! I-I know you-! You are-!"

The high priest started to speak, but he closed his mouth. At the same time, the ceremony he was conducting lost its focus and the eyes looking at me disappeared as well.

"N-No my lord-! Please do not leave me...us like that. We need your presence. We need your guidance. Please-!"

The monster pleaded but there was no reply. Their lord had already left them to their own devices.

"Aww, did you get abandoned? Now, why don’t we stop this chatter and you tell me all you know about what is going on?"

I asked the monster but he was still in shock at being abandoned. And then, his shock turned into rage as he looked at me.

"Tsk, it’s all because of you-! I won’t forgive you. For the sake of our lord’s revival, you shall be killed here and now-"

The monster told me and the next thing happened too fast for me to know. The monster was close enough to pierce my body with his sharp staff and I could not react in time.

"ACE...KYLE, ARE YOU ALRIGHT-?"

"HUMAN, NO-"

Two different voices called out toward me as I felt pain washing over my body. I had a sudden thought that I often had during these times.

’Ah, this is what dying feels like. This painful yet peaceful sensation. I wonder how long it will last this time...’

I wanted to close my eyes and allow death to embrace me.

Unfortunately, my body had different ideas and a pattern appeared all over my body. The monster pulled its weapon back in shocked surprise as my wound began to close itself.

This fast healing was a torturous process. I could feel my body trying to tie itself back together as I gasped in pain.

It felt as if ants were crawling all over me and biting me. The patterns felt itchy and it burned at the same time.

Gasp

"T-That is..."

"The God’s favor...but why? He is not our lord...so why..."

The monsters questioned, and these words were a first for me. However, the look of shock was not new.

I had never bothered to pay attention to monsters before. Heck, I had not even known they could speak or communicate before I met the final boss.

"Kyle, are you alright? Darn, what is going on-! Hey, why are you stopping me like that?"

Lynn tried to run toward me but Kuro stopped him. I could only see it out of the corner of my eyes and I found myself following Kuro’s eyes to look at the sky.

It had started to bleed red and a pattern similar to my body was starting to stitch itself in the sky.

"O-Oh no-! These signs are...divine punishment-! Our lord is angry with us. W-We need to do something..."

The monsters ran around, now scared of what would happen to them.

It was one thing for them to die by human hands because they could be reborn with glory. But it was a completely different thing to die because they displeased their lord. Their shame knew no bounds.

"Human-! You spoiled everything for us. Because of you, we will be no more. My ghost will haunt you for eternity."

The high priest told me before the dungeon started to fall apart.
