The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 30: Ch : Become my Partner - Part 2
"You’re here to buy coffee as well? I see that you have refined taste as well. But unfortunately, this bag of coffee is mine-"
I let go of the coffee as soon as I heard Lee Minho’s voice.
The alpha looked surprised to see me give up so soon, but I did not care for his disappointment even a little.
After all, I could always grab the next coffee box on the shelf and be done with it.
"Tsk, are you not going to fight me for the coffee? You grabbed it first, right? Is it not a matter of pride for you?"
The alpha asked, now a little irritated that I wouldn’t bite the bait he was leaving in front of me.
"You can have that coffee bag. I can always get another... and I need to grab a few boxes, so I don’t mind losing that one to you."
I said calmly and Lee Minho looked at the coffee bag in his hands before putting it back down on the shelf.
"Tsk, now I don’t want to buy this coffee anymore today. Maybe I would swing by and drink coffee at your place. Where do you work? Is it somewhere famous? You have a decent enough face to get hired anywhere."
Lee Minho continued to pester me, but I ignored him and packed my coffee bags and headed toward the counter.
It was easy for me to ignore Lee Minho’s chatter, but what was not easy were the looks I was getting from people who recognized Lee Minho.
’Ugh, when will this man stop speaking. At this rate, I am about to have a headache.’
I made an irritated face when I looked at Lee Minho and I knew that he saw it as well. But he pretended that he did not as he continued to speak to me.
Once outside the store, I grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the alley beside it. It was time for us to talk.
"What do you want? I don’t think you are chattering aimlessly just to speak to me, right?"
I asked and Lee Minho made a wounded expression and clutched his heart.
"How dare you say that? Can’t you tell that I was putting my heart and soul into my speech when I spoke? How dare you say these things to me... anyway, you are right. I did want to talk to you about something."
Lee Minho’s theatrics melted away into indifference once he noticed that they had no effect on me.
I waited for him to speak what he needed to and he did not beat around the bush for long.
"You know about the hunter’s championship, right? We are legally required to have a civilian in our team. I want you to be in my team." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Lee Minho asked me with a straight face, but it immediately made me want to turn around and leave.
"Hey-! Wait a minute. Are you not even going to hear me out?"
The alpha asked as he reached out toward me to stop me from leaving. This was happening too much these days and it was getting irritating for me.
Still, since I was wearing the façade of a powerless omega civilian, I had no choice but to submit to him.
"Look, before you ask me why I chose you, let me assure you that I had a reason behind it. It’s because you are the only civilian whom I know entered the dungeon and came out. You won’t be as startled to enter a second one."
The reasoning sounded selfish but totally valid. Even I would have done the same had I been in Lee Minho’s place.
In fact, I would not have even given the civilian a choice in that regard and just made them enter anyway.
’I guess Lee Minho is better than me in that regard.’
However, despite knowing that I would do the same, I had no intention of cooperating with Lee Minho.
"Sorry, I have no intention of participating in any championship. I just want to live a calm and free life. You should select someone else who wants to be in this competition in the first place."
I told Lee Minho and he suddenly looked troubled. I had a bad feeling about it, so I immediately grabbed his collar to pull his face down to my level.
"What the hell did you do?"
I asked in a calm voice and Lee Minho’s face went red as he looked away from me.
"I... ah, I... don’t worry about it. I might have just... entered your name in my team anyway before anyone else could because I heard some people talking about it from Luminous guild..."
Lee Minho admitted what he did and I felt stunned to hear him speak.
"You did what-! Why would you... ugh, what kind of idiot are you? Do you seriously believe I would have agreed to be in the other hunter’s team when I don’t even want to be in yours? Go and fix it now."
I yelled at Lee Minho and he flinched at the highness of my voice.
’Maybe I should punch Lee Minho once with my whole strength. He’s an A-class hunter so he would survive... even if he might break some ribs, it would be better than letting my anger boil like that.’
I was debating what to do when Lee Minho looked away from me before he spoke.
"I cannot take your name back anymore. B-But you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to. I can always make an excuse that you got ’sick’ a day before the championship and it was a sudden cycle. No one would blame you for it."
The alpha assured and I realized that by being ’sick’ he actually meant ’in heat,’ which was a valid excuse.
Even with all this development in the medical field, suppressants were something that tended to fail at times.
"Fine, I will let this go for now. But remember, I have no intention of participating in the championship."
I told Lee Minho and he agreed.
"Sure. But if you do change your mind, call on my personal number. I’ll add that to your phone for easy access... I change numbers every three months as well for safety reasons, so I’ll message you my new number once I do. Call me if you change your mind. I am sure we can reach an agreement at least."
Lee Minho told me before he left.
He was an interesting person for sure. But in the end, he was an alpha and a hunter. Our worlds were not going to collide as long as I could help it.
"Let’s go home now. Ugh, this 15-minute coffee run sure turned out to be over an hour. I am sure Theo would find a way to complain about it one way or another."
I spoke as I looked at the sky.
A flash of red caught my eye in the sky. It looked similar to the S-ranked dungeon where I heard that voice that sent me here.
But before I could make sense of things, the red flash was gone. I was not even sure if it had been there in the first place or not.
